I spent 6 fabulous and memorable days (all too short) with Real Sudan Tours to discover the breathtaking country that is Northern Sudan. I had been communicating with Samir Abbass who runs the company for quite awhile and I am not sure why I did not jump the gun earlier, or go ahead with the longer agenda like I wanted. Nonetheless it was a perfect 6 days, and everything about the country - from its stunning geo-landscapes, archaeological wonders, vibrant culture to incredibly kind people - just wants me to go back now. I miss it already. Communicating with Samir was efficient and professional. He is responsive on Whatsapp and email. He structured a great agenda that covers a whole lot - Khartoum, Karima, Jebel El Barkl, Meroë, Naga, Musawwarat, and all these cities, nomadic villages and the desert valleys in between. The distances and days are long, but they are worth it for the things you see and the experiences you get. His team - Abdulsalem, Saleh, Jamal, Ikhlas - were all wonderful throughout. Abdulsalem was my primary guide - an archaeologist, inspector of antiquities pursuing a PhD. They all though were comprehensive in their knowledge of the country and its present day and history. They highlighted all these unique, nuanced details about Sudan, but also the challenges people face to survive. They exposed me so much to the people and life there. They were all responsive, kind, attentive, generous and just generally proud of their country and people. I enjoyed my time with all of them so much just learning. I have such a soft spot for Jamal - the kind hearted man with sparkling eyes would drive hundreds of kilometres and still cook you these amazing meals (Sudanese food is amazing). He would teach me Arabic phrases, and care about me like I am his own daughter. I felt sad just leaving the morning of my last day, but I know I will be back. Sudan is a safe, open and beautiful country with so much to see and offer and I can’t wait until the day my next trip there is planned.

Samir and his team made all happen with only a few days notice. Manal was my guide and her keen eye and wealth of knowledge made the pyramids and other structures that much more interesting. I would have missed so much if I was with a lesser guide. The lunch and transportation was great too! If in Sudan...you must book with RST for all your in or out of town adventures

Real Sudan tours provided us with an excellent ten-day tour of numerous archaeological sights. Habob Idriss was our guide and arranged for several personal visits with archaeologists. Jamal was a great driver and his cooking was superb - we enjoyed each meal. We were treated like royalty and everyone we encountered was friendly and welcoming. Come to Sudan - it will exceed your expectations!

With a small group we traveled to Sudan in February of 2018. Most of us had not been there although we had traveled extensively before. We were in for a wonderful experience. From the moment we got off the plane for the next 10 days we were enthralled by the culture, the history and the experience. Our guide, Rehab, was wonderful. Highly recommend you discover the authentic Sudan with Real Sudan.

I did a two day tour with this company in September of 2022 with my wife and two others. I couldn't say enough good things about my experience with them and with the country of Sudan. The sites, and food of Sudan do not disappoint. The biggest attraction though are the great people of this country. They are friendly, hospitable and curious. I never felt anything but safe during my entire stay in Sudan. The guide and drivers we had were courteous, knowledgeable, and simply amazing. Highly recommend to go out of your way and see Sudan with the help of this company. It's a memory I'll cherish for my lifetime.

We used Real Sudan Tours for a 4 day trip to Northern Sudan. We went in a large family group of 14 people, including small children. Samir, from Real Sudan was fantastic from start to finish. He created a bespoke itinerary for our group, based on our interests, answered all our questions and organised the trip flawlessly. We started and finished in Khartoum, visiting old Nubia, including: Musawarat, Naga, the Meroe Pyramids, the Merowe Dam, El Kuru, Jebel El Barkel, Old Dongola. The sights, history, pyramids and temples were amazing, stunning and beautiful. The people are the kindest and most welcoming in the world. Our guide, Habab, was an experienced archaeologist and fluent English speaker who enhanced our understanding of the sights enormously. The cars were well maintained 4WD, the drivers were friendly, safe and extremely professional, and our cook, Mahmoud, prepared a feast every day. We could not have chosen a better company to travel with, and were delighted to learn more about Sudanese ancient history. We would not hesitate to recommend Real Sudan, and would encourage everyone to visit this really incredibly interesting part of the world, that is relatively untouched by tourism. I would also add that we were there in late December 2018, so during the protests and popular uprising in Sudan. We had wondered if this would affect our trip, either in terms of organisation or safety, and if we should reconsider going. I can say that it was perfectly safe for us to be there, our drivers planned carefully ahead to ensure that petrol would be available in the current shortages, we avoided protest areas (which was quite straightforward to do) and we found no reason at all to be put off or to delay a visit. In fact, it is all the more important to go at this time, to support the local economy and people, and a local tour operator.

Samir and Adele from Real Sudan Tours were fantastic from the frist email I sent them. Due to weather factors (a large sandstorm in the region) I actually couldn't go on the first tour I organised so I rescheduled for a later date which was handled perfectly from their side. Visa organisation was quick and easy and the price for the whole tour was very reasonable. On the ground in Sudan the trip was superb - our guide, Sami, was an archaeologist specialising in Sudanese / Nubian history and was highly educated, personable and a pleasure to talk with and our driver / chef, Jamal, was excellent. I still don't know how he managed to cook such high quality food out of the back of a 4x4! Sudan itself is beautiful, very safe and has some of the friendliest people I've ever met. Infrastructure is basic, so don't expect everything to go smoothly all the time, but this just adds to the charm. I'm now an unofficial spokesperson for Sudanese tourism and I'm urging everyone I know to visit!

Sudan is a truly underappreciated country, and you won't regret it if you decide to go. When you go, choose Real Sudan Tours. My wife an I this past Easter traveled to Sudan for a four day tour, spending a day in Khartoum and than three days seeing some of the historical sites north of the capital, including the pyramids at Meroe. Samir and Adele at Real Sudan were wonderful in helping us plan the trip before arriving. Once in Sudan, our guide Ikhlas, a trained archaeologist, was the perfect guide and travelling companion. Very knowledgeable and fun to be around, we couldn't have picked a better person to show us the country. Our driver, Jamal, was also incredible - he would spend the entire day driving us around and then jump out of the vehicle to cook us our meals - by the end of the trip we were telling Jamal he needed to open his own restaurant. We had an unforgettable time in Sudan and Ikhlas and Jamal, as well as the entire package Real Sudan put together for us were a huge part of what made the trip so special. My wife and I could not recommend Real Sudan Tours more highly!
