If you're looking for a place to call home in Cairo, look no further than Madina Hostel. The location is perfect for walking around the city, the vibes are just astounding, and the staff are some of the friendliest people I've ever met. I stayed here for nearly my entire 2 week stay in Cairo, and the entire experience was amazing. The tours that Madina offers are very affordable and extremely interesting. Breakfast is always tasty, especially the mango juice 🥭 I made so many friends at this hostel, I can't wait to come back!

Amazing hostel! The room was clean and beautiful. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We loved our daily breakfast. And the location is so close to the major areas of downtown cairo. Easy walks to museum and major streets so you can easily find things. Also close to metro station. Even the common areas were great. This place is a gem! HIGHLY recommend

The appearance of the hostel is highly deceiving as what they advertise is not fully accurate. The elevator seems like a ride to hell – it's very old and scary to ride. The entire building gives the impression that it could collapse at any moment. On a positive note, I did receive good hospitality. However, I was disappointed to find that the hospitality seemed to be exclusively geared towards foreigners, and as someone who was hoping to meet and interact with locals, this came as a shock. If you're looking for a budget-friendly hostel, this might be a suitable option, but I can only give it one star due to the concerning state of the elevator

We had a great stay for 2 nights in a dorm in Madina Hostel which was opened in 2020 (everything is new). The hostel is very clean, the staff is kind and we would visit this place definitely again. 100% recommendation.

Great value!! Nice facilities! Clean, modern, cool rooms with air conditioning!! The balcony was fun and the staff was friendly. A great alternative to the expensive hotels. They offered tours around Cairo that would have been worth it because navigating Cairo on your own is not advisable or enjoyable.

Mustafa and the staff at Madina Hostel are top notch! Special shout out to Abdu for being so kind and warming! I also want to recognize Dua (sorry if I spelled your name wrong) and Roshi for always being their for me as a guest! Madina hostel is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in traveling internationally. This hostel is modern, extremely clean, and is located downtown Cairo which makes getting around so easy! This hostel is located near a busy square so bring ear plugs for sleeping. My only suggestion would be to improve this hostel is for Madina Hostel to have more activities for guests to interact and get to know each other.

The Madina Hostel is a small modern tenth-floor hostel in the heart of Cairo that accommodates a range of tourists including singles, couples, and families. The majority of rooms are private but there's one six-bed dorm. The highlight of course is their balcony view. The staff are kind and generous and happy to help.

Madina Hostel it's a great and comfortable place, super good energy. Mostafa is such a nice guy, he takes care everyone, he is always there if you need something .The place is right in the downtown , great location. The dorms are clean, the hostel offers a nice breakfast included. Another cool thing is a mix between balcony and rooftop, considering you can look above the city and enjoy the sun, I'm sure you enjoy your stay :)

I had a great stay at Madina recently and would highly recommend this hostel. I was in a private 1/1 and everything was great. The staff were amazing and a special shout out to Dowa. She was the nicest, sweetest, kindest person I met in Egypt. I had come back from a terrible Nile River Cruise and was so nice to be welcomed so warmly by her. Breakfast was great and they even cooked an amazing dinner for us 1 night. If I ever return to Cairo, I will definitely stay here.

Giving it a 5 star as the staff made our stay worth it. They were genuine, gave great recommendations and don’t have intentions to scam off you (which we find, is quite common in Cairo). The rooms were clean, we were in a private twin room with a shared bathroom and it felt like they cleaned up after most showers. Complimentary breakfast and a communal fridge. Only thing to note is - they have a bit of a dodgy lift but it adds character. I would also suggest booking an Uber from the airport rather than a pre-booked taxi which cost us $19usd Good location, close to all the fancy hotels but also walking distance to the corner store

One of the best hostels on Tahir square. We took a room with privat bathroom, was clean and very cozy. View from the window is amazing. Hostel has good breakfast as well, you can ask for tea and coffee all the time or do it for yourself. Few rest areas in and out. Everything was amazing and receptionists are so clever, friendly and helpful. Definitely my recommendation. If i go to Cairo again, will stay only there

The attention and interaction with everyone in the staff, specially with Mou and Doaa, was wonderful. It always feels like home chilling with friends. Mou and Doaa attention and tips were great, so thanks a lot. At night everyone is sharing experiences in the common room. The breakfast is really tasty and home made, offering local food. The mango juice was the best! We stayed 2 nights in the triple room with shared bathroom: the room, installations and the hostel in general is modern, clean and very very comfortable. Location is great, in downtown next to the Egyptian museum. Don't be intimidated by the building entrance and elevator.

Wow, what a magical place in Center of downtown Cairo. I travels many times to Cairo and this is definitely the best place for people who want to spend their trip in a lovely place. The free breakfast is mind blowing and always the perfect start a day in this crazy city. Mustafa and his team are giving you the feeling of having a home even if you only stay for a night. Also you are surrounded by dozens of restaurants, cultural institutions, historical places and the real life in Cairo. Will definitely come back. Much love and thanks for this beautiful time.

The room was perfect to stay. Breakfast were nutritious, with all the fruits yoghurt. However, the first room we got was not good. AC not cooling 🥶. First night was not sleep 😴 good. Second was perfect. T’was perfect 🤩 with perfect balcony to capture amazing places. The only concern for us and hoping to make changes about their policy towards bed sheets. They will charge 300 pounds for oil stains. It can be easily washed out with detergent. It made me wonder, If there was no oil stains present in the bedsheets, will they change the bedsheets?

The rooms in this hostal were OK. They should add more hooks for people to hang things in the rooms and in their dorm beds. The service is amazing because the people working there is as such. They will give you all the tips you need and arrange the tours for you in a reasonable price. I think the location is perfect. Very central and close to most of the things by walking distance. And because it's located on the 10th floor, the incredible noise from Cairo's crazy traffic actuality doesn't bother much. They offer a modest breakfast which is the same everyday.

This is one of the best hostel I have been! Well located, I found drugstore, bakery, restaurant, ATM, exchange, definitely everything 5 minutes walking. The staff is amazing, they are super respectful, good vibes and helpful. The hostel also offer tours with very reasonable prices. During the morning I had a delicious Egyptian breakfast, one of the best . Clean spaces, towels and a comfortable bed . I’ll come back!

Initially difficult to find, because there was no clear signage on the outside of the building. However, once you negotiate the ground floor and reach the top floor, via lift, to the Madina Hostel there's a shift of perspective: a modern and clean environment; comfortable and homely. A very safe and pleasant place to stay. The Staff were friendly, accommodating and informative. Couldn't fault their hospitality. Our room was adequate, with double glazing to keep out the outside noise, although earplugs are recommended if you prefer total silence. However, the bathroom needed an extra shelf to place toiletries for 2 people. Breakfast was generous and delicious - ample for brunch. I would recommend the Madina Hostel to anyone who is looking for a reasonably priced place to stay in downtown Cairo. It's perfectly located near Tahir Square and the Cairo museum of antiquities, banks, restaurants, and shops. I loved it!

You usually get what you pay for but as Madina hostel they give you more than what you pay for. Staff are the best I’ve seen in the hospitality business and the culture they create is a welcoming one to all. A great breakfast is provided every morning, this was especially awesome during Ramadan due to many places being closed. The rooms are at standard for what was paid (I stayed in the 6 person room), the beds are comfortable and some privacy is provided by curtains in front of your bed. The staff also provided me a lock for a lockers as I had not brought my own. The only downside I see is for someone with mobility issues as the beds are bunk bed style. Overall I loved my stay here and will be coming back again

This place is highly recommended! People working there are really friendly, welcoming and helpful! The hostel is clean, really well organized, comfortable, and the location is central in Cairo. Home sweet Egyptian home. I love this place. So much so that I stayed on 4 separate occasion during my month long tour of Egypt. Comfy beds. Gorgeous bathrooms with great showers. 73 countries in 5 continents and had almost everything go wrong in this place. Some of it wasn't the hostels fault. Pros: (1) air con in the room is amazing. With the rising temperatures the room was kept cold; specially at night (2) When mistakes happened the owner went above and beyond to try to rectify it. (3) Location. You are downtown and a few blocks form the museum and restaurants. (4) Bed. It's bigger than normal. Bed frames are bolted to the wall thus avoiding cracking when someone gets in bed Cons: (1). I was trapped in the elevator after it broke. Not really their fault but this place has a sketchy elevator. I was able to be freed after a few min but the hostel is in the 10th floor so stairs is not something I want to do everytime. (2) Spotty to no internet. Internet stopped working on numerous days. Especially upstairs where the majority of the rooms are located. Ended up using my SIM card from the airport as primary use of data because even when it did work it was way too slow. (3) Lackluster tour information by staff. I arrived in Cairo and immediately wanted to see what the hostel provided. Numerous staff personnel failed to either care or give correct info on the tour. Miscommunication by night and day staff caused a massive fumble in plans to take the "historic Cairo" tour. I in turn cancelled all tours bought and requested a refund. Owner did follow up to apologize for their mistake, refunded my purchase and comped me some nights in the hostel. (4) Excessive amount of flies in the hostel. Don't take it as they are swarming but they are rather a nussaisance. If you're in the common areas you will be swatting one away every 10 seconds. Don't know if mosquito nets on windows are an option but it would definitely help (5) Light in my bed doesnt work. (6) Floor boards crack thus negating the bed frames being great

Fantastic hostel very close to the Egyptian museum. The staff were all extremely welcoming and friendly, starting with Doah (sorry if I misspell your name!) who welcomed me in the early hours of the morning, made me coffee, helped me settle in, and made sure that I got a delicious free breakfast included with the room cost before leaving on my tour at 8am, and continuing with every person I met throughout my stay. The facilities were very nice, with air conditioning in the individual bedroom. I would gladly stay again!

The customer service at this place is second to none! Ie. Fabulous!. I booked a dorm and needed to checkout early thennext day so they gave me a very large egyptiam breakfast when I checked in (almost like a very nutritious lunch). The reception area is very welcoming and there are very nice views here even from the balcony. I dropped 2 stars for 2 reasons. The 6 bed mixed dorm was very small and squash. No privacy, no lockers and hard find space for your things. Also the top bunk i stayed in had no lamp. The others did. The aircon as well I think is monitored by staff. And secondly a major safety issue with their malfunctioning lift. The hostel is located on the 10th floor so there is a common lift inside the building but it appears it has not been working properly for some time but they still allow guests to use it which is very dangerous especially as I actually got stuck in the lift. It stopped mid way and the door to get out wasn't even in my view as it went all pear shape. To fix it they had to turn off the whole thing so it went pitch black the whole thing lasted like 5 miniyes but we all know in more developing countries there would be a very large red sign OUT OF ORDER to avoid anything like this happen. I told them this is very very dangerous. Not help being claustrophobic. So I had a small panic attack. PLEASE CLOSE THIS LIFT UBTIL FULLY WORKING 100%. such a shame as the staff were very good in other aspects but SAFETY COMES FIRST. !

Very nice and convenient hostel for travellers in Cairo wanting to escape the busyness of the city. We stayed in both a dorm and private room which were clean and stylish with AC and decent wifi. The free breakfast is brilliant and location is central with good access to the Egyptian Museum and Zamalek. Be warned that the property is on the 10th floor and there’s an ‘eventful’ elevator journey to reach it!

I thought that a month here would have been too much but I was wrong, it was too little. Madina Hostel has given me some of the best memories that I will cherish forever. My experience in Cairo would not have been so beautiful without it. This place feels like home: it is so clean, comfortable and has such good vibes…people there are just amazing. After one whole month spent there, there has never been something I complained about (strange, because I’m usually picky). I was in the female dorm which was kept very tidy..I even saw the lady cleaning the wall so that no stains stayed. The air conditioning filters were often cleaned too and the shared bathroom didn’t look shared at all…it was always free and neat. I hope I can return there one day..I highly recommend it!

I'm incredibly grateful for the wonderful and hospitable reception I received upon arrival, complete with a comforting cup of tea, thanks to Doaa! Unlike previous experiences at other hotels/hostels in Egypt, I was pleasantly surprised by the honesty and integrity demonstrated here. There were no attempts to overcharge or manipulate with hidden fees or excuses. Payment can be made upon arrival, in dollars/Euros or Egyptian pounds, either in cash or by Visa. They strive to accommodate the client as much as possible. It was truly refreshing to encounter such transparency and fairness. Tea and coffee are available all day, and the breakfast was very good. I received a towel free of charge, and there's a nice common area where you can meet and discuss with people from all nationalities. The room and bathroom were very clean. If you have an issue with the internet, they fix it promptly. Everything is in working order, and if not, they repair it right away. It is in a great location, downtown and close to everything. You can leave your luggage and/or stay in the common area if your flight is late at night. Thank you for setting such a high standard of service! I wanted to come back, but it was fully booked, and then they had to temporarily close as they were undergoing a government audit, like many hostels in Cairo right now. I look forward to coming back again in the future. I usually don’t take the time to write a review, but here I had to because thanks to them, it changed my perception of Egypt. I recommend this hostel. Thank you so much Madina Hostel team!
