One of the dirtiest parks I’ve set foot in. “Guard” at the entrance won’t let you pass unless you pay 10 EGP, but he won’t give you a ticket. Good for spending some time if you need some shade, as it’s one of the very few parks in the area, but that’s about it.

History was made here. This garden used to be for free for the people living around. Om Kolthom sang her memory making live songs in this garden. Nowadays, entry to it is charged. This garden contains rare trees that are more than 100 years old.

This is a wonderful place which dates back to the sixties of the nineteenth century. The Opera square and Azbakeya Garden contained famous hotels, like Shepherded Hotel; theaters like Azbakeya Theatre and many interesting places. The statue of Ibrahim Pachá on his horse is considered as a symbol of the Egyptian Modern Renaissance.

(Translated by Google) 😔😔 # Ataba_Opera Square 😔 Remains of the ruins of the second most beautiful garden in the world after its complete destruction # Azbakeya Garden Who dreamed of the establishment of Khedive Ismail after he ordered the filling of Birka al-Azbakeya in 1872 AD and commissioned the French engineer Barel Dashan to build it on an area of 18 acres and wrapped the garden with iron walls from the outside 😔 Azbakeya Garden is one of the oldest botanical gardens in Egypt. In 1864 AD, the pond, which was in the middle of the square, was filled in, and in its place in 1872 AD, the Azbakeya Park was established by the French engineer “Barrell Deschamps Bek”, on an area of 18 acres surrounded by a wall of masonry and iron and doors were opened on all four sides. Khedive Ismail set up two theaters in the southern tip of Azbakeya: the French Comedy Theater, which was established on November 2, 1867 AD and opened on January 4, 1868 AD under the management of Khawaja Mansi, and the Khedivial Opera House. The other, and many official and popular celebrations for foreigners and Egyptians were held in the park. In June 1887 AD, Queen Victoria's Day was celebrated by the English community in Egypt, and the French community celebrated July 14, and the Egyptian celebrations in the garden were the most prominent of which was the celebration of the Royal Seating Day and the celebration of charities. And Masonic lodges, and the military musician was playing in the first celebration, in addition to the establishment of marquees in the celebrations of associations and singers' parties, the most famous of whom are Sheikh Yusuf al-Manyalawi, Abdo al-Hamuli and Muhammad Othman. In the era of the "Nubar Pasha" ministry, the Green Shrine was used as the seat of the mixed court, and then it was turned into the High Court House, which is now known in the area called the Medicaid Square. In the middle of the nineteenth century, a civil hospital was established in Azbakeya Square. In addition, a number of hotels were built in Azbakeya, including Shepherd and Continental, in addition to Windsor and Eden Palace. After the Cairo fire that occurred on January 26, 1952, Azbakeya Square underwent many changes. The airline offices that were located in the Shepherd Hotel, which was completely destroyed in the fire, were transferred to Tahrir Square, and Azbakeya Square itself, with its huge area, was divided into four places that now include The new Central Bank building, a petrol station and a garage of the Republic, and two buildings belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health Insurance, while Al-Azbakeya Park was also divided, and part of it was built by the Opera Central, and it was penetrated by the 26th of July Street, dividing it into two parts. Amazing place rich of history. One of the best attractions for me where I like to go back every time I am in Cairo. Great place for photography though. You could also find some antique shops there. Walk from the gate until you reach Khan Al Khalili. You will enjoy the walk and experience.

The garden contains some very old trees but is in a rather poor condition and lacks supervision or good maintenance , wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a quiet place to calm your mind , it also attracts some very shady individuals so it isn't really a safe place for female visitors
