The most iconic square in all of Cairo and also in the Arab world, the square is located in the city center of Cairo and it gained its fame from the 25 January protests in Egypt in 2011, currently the area around the square is full of policemen but that has nothing to do with one’s movement or anything, and also Anwar Sadat metro station is located in the square area and if you ever found yourself in Downtown Cairo I’d suggest walking by the square.

El Tahrir Square is one of the most beautiful places you like to visit in the middle of Cairo.. After development, the Square became an ancient aesthetic and historical symbol.. God bless Egypt. ❤️

Well it's beautiful after modification. But it's not allowed to stay there for a long time (now adays), and sometimes it's not allowed to take pictures due to security conditions

Tahrir Square is one of the most famous squares in Cairo and all of Egypt. It is surrounded by important areas such as the Egyptian Museum and the Qasr al-Nil Bridge. It is characterized by the presence of the obelisk of King Ramses II and Statues of 4 Rams.

Beautiful section of Cairo, especially at night. Be careful crossing the streets, pedestrian crossings exist but they are completely ignored.

This is simple a junction in the Cairo city Downtown used by the vehicles as a roundabout. The history says it is a place where a revolution took place. You don’t need to separate a day for the visit, just come across the square when you travelling in downtown Cairo.

Tahrir Square (Arabic: ميدان التحرير‎ Mīdān at-Taḥrīr, ], English: Liberation Square), also known as "Martyr Square", is a major public town square in downtown Cairo, Egypt. The square has been the location and focus for political demonstrations in Cairo, most notably those that led to the 2011 Egyptian revolution and the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak

Visited 7 October 2022 A free site to see in Egypt ( there aren't many ) Journeyed here from the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation via Uber. To all travellers wanting to get around Cairo use Uber it is safe, simple and very very inexpensive. We got dropped on one side of the square and had to make our way over to the other side. Luckily there is a pedestrian crossing which you can use instead of trying to cross by yourself. Though when you get the hang of crossing the street it is very easy and a very exhilarating experience especially on some of the larger roads. At the centre of the square is a large roundabout with an obelisk of Ramses The Great which was removed from the Tanis archaeological site in 2020 I believe. There are also four Ram sphinxes surrounding the obelisk. The square is famous for the site of the political demonstrations that ousted the Mubarak government in the Arab Spring of 2011 You will find the Egyptian Museum at one end of the Square.

Of course I love this place but I went there a week ago I could stand there and look at anything or have a visit there are police members who prevent us from standing and watching the place or the restaurants or the view of the square or anything and kept pushing us to go away which is not a good thing for Egyptian to not feel safe to walk in the streets of Cairo

Remarkable square looks like the Arc De Triumphs in Paris, where many direction will come out of the big square. Surely, politically important as it reflected a marked change in the modern time. I recommend that you visit it in the late evening. Keep an eye on the renovation around the square that is astonishing especially at night with light reflecting on the architectural art of the surrounding buildings.

Tahrir Square in Cairo is a historic and significant landmark that should not be missed. The square has played a central role in the political and social history of Egypt, and has been the site of many important events and protests. Visiting Tahrir Square is an opportunity to witness the energy and spirit of the Egyptian people. The square is always bustling with activity, and it is a great place to people-watch and take in the sights and sounds of the city. It is also a great place to learn about the history and culture of Cairo and Egypt, as there are many monuments and landmarks nearby that commemorate important events and individuals. In addition to its historical and cultural significance, Tahrir Square is also a beautiful and well-maintained public space. The lush green lawns and elegant fountains provide a peaceful contrast to the busy streets surrounding the square, and make it a great place to relax and enjoy the sun. I would highly recommend visiting Tahrir Square to anyone traveling to Cairo. It is a must-see for those interested in history and politics, and is sure to leave a lasting impression on all who visit.

One of rhe most famous locations in the heart of Cairo. Made famous during the revolution in 2011. However it has been a location for political protest for nearly a century. Designed and built in 1865 in the French style because Khedive Ismail loved the French designs.
