I don’t recommend this hostel for anyone, I booked a single room for one night by phone and when I arrived they said that room is not available now and we have another one but more expensive and unfortunately I had to take it, beside that the AC wasn’t working and when I ask the manager he told me that “you’ve to pay more money if you need AC” and he didn’t even provide a fan! , the windows aren’t sound proof and so noisy location I couldn’t sleep well, the room in general was disappointing and full of flies, folks avoid this hostel !

First the hotel name on the website and on the street does not match it was hard to find the place , then once inside the main entrance was very sketchy looked like an old abandoned building with offices inside the elevator was very scary and old. The receptionist were nice and helpful and room was fine but they should show realistic pictures in the future to not attract the wrong people. Breakfast was not interesting so we ate downstairs at the pizza shop thats open 24/7. One great thing about it is the location we are near the Nile and in the middle of downtown cairo which helped us move fast.

SCAM HOSTEL. This hostel scams customers by overbooking and moving the extra people to a different and lower quality hotel. The room was unkept, old and dirty (there were used flip flops on the floor), there were ants on the bed. In general it didn't have the same characteristics of the room we booked one month in advance. The lady at reception kept justifying herself by saying "it's just for one night" and lying saying that it's the same room when it was clearly not. We clearly stated that we were unhappy with the situation and they couldn't have cared less. The second night we spent there (we already had paid for it) they lied to us telling us a story about a sick man needing the room. When looking at other Google reviews we see this is a common practice. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOSTEL.

The best hotel I ever stayed in Egypt , the host has a great attitude to the customer , he will try to help you arrange everything he can do his best. Even delivery food from outside without asking tips . Highly recommend for other tourist and want to experience the Egyptian lifestyle !

The worst place. Not clean ,fake photos , the entrance was like thriller. We were scared to sleep there . The morning we quickly left the room . Very expensive too for this. No internet access no nothing.

The hotel is is in an excellent location downtown with the wonderful museum just across the road and so many places close by. Ahmed was very helpful, offering to arrange a taxi from the airport in for a good price before I arrived, at request he arranged a tour of the pyramids and a ride back to the airport. The staff were very affable and professional. The room was clean and everything worked well, the beeping of horns outside may upset some but it wasn't enough to affect my sleep.

Scammy hotel!! It looks nothing like the pictures and they thought it would be okay to put us in their sister property filled with ants and stained mattresses. Horrible experience and horrible customer service.

Absolutely superb location. The rooms are basic but do the job. The shower was the best shower I had in Egypt - lots of hot water and a rain shower. The beds were comfy but off putting as they do not dress the duvet. Instead a sheet is put down and a bare duvet put on top. This was horrible as it was dirty so I didn’t even want to put my bag on the bed. The staff were nice and the guy checking us in was helpful and had great English. I only stayed here one night and I was barely in the place so not much else to report. Left very early for the airport so didn’t experience the breakfast. They did leave bottles of water in the room which was nice.

You guys just the best. I'm really happy that we found you in the middle of the night after the long bus trip :) Clean room, hot water, private bathroom, fridge and aircon. We will definitely stay here again in our next trip to Cairo.

My 5 star rating is relative to everything I have experienced in Egypt over the last 7 days of travelling. This place is listed as a hostel but it by far better than some of the hotels we stayed in and paid 5x the price. Great location. Recently renovated. Small but decent rooms. Wi-Fi is actually working. The customer service is great. The check out is at 11am but they let us stay until 2pm as our flight is later in the evening.

Great location and super friendly staff who are always happy to help. Can’t beat the location if you’re visiting the Egyptian museum or downtown Cairo. Don’t be put off by the sketchy looking entrance, once you get upstairs it’s all ok 😉

Clean rooms, amazing staff who always were ready to sort you out!! Wafaa and Mona gave us hot fresh falafel straight out of the fryer every morning with the most pleasant smiles on their faces!! Check in and checkout was easy with Mohammed, this place is very close to the bustling downtown and the river Nile as well. Don't miss out on Aleby ice creams and kunafo w basbosa!! In the downtown. Overall very very happy , thank you team museum plaza.

I was wary of this place based on the reviews already here - and sure enough, I arrived to be told my room (booked months in advance) was “flooded” and we’d be relocated to “Cairo Dream” - this is in a scary, derelict building with a terrifying hallway and lift. I immediately left to find another hotel. Back at Museum Plaza reception, I also witnessed another couple being told the same lie and sent to “Cairo Dream”. Horrible experience. AVOID IT.

The main advantages are that it is in downtown and is cheaper than the average prices. It is just enough to sleep, do the morning duties and then go off site seeing. Don’t expect great amenities. The exterior is not great. As the name says it is more a hostel than a hotel.

The hostel is basic but clean. Great location, although entrance from the road isn't immediately obvious. The staff working here are very friendly, and go above and beyond to help you enjoy your stay in Cairo.

This is one of the best hostels that I have stayed in, hands down. The place is centrally located in Cairo, just a few minutes away from the Egyptian Museum and Sadat metro station. It is also one of the cheapest hostels in the area, and for the quality you get, you are basically staying for free. Ahmed, the hostel owner, and his staff are very friendly. They arranged a tour of the pyramids for me at a very reasonable price, and gave me useful tips (where to eat, where to buy souvenirs, etc). If ever I'll be back in Cairo, I will stay at the Museum House Hostel again.

(Translated by Google) When I arrived on Monday, September 13 at 3 a.m., the receptionist made up a story for me that the room - which I reserved several days ago - was not released by the guest. I was sent to the hostel next door which obviously hadn't been cleaned. At no time did they deign to call me to warn me of a problem related to my reservation! I strongly advise against this place which does not hesitate to take all reservations even though they no longer have rooms available! Lack of professionalism!

Desayuno pobre. Limpieza justa.

The rooms were not great to be honest. Be aware of rooms facing the main road, they are extremely loud overnight. The location is good. The staff was ok.. but not always available to make breakfast and sometimes keep their lobby TV loud overnight.

The entrance of the building is like a ghetto. When I got the hostal was a bit better but no so much, the price was around 50% more because "taxes" so I ran away from this place. You will find better accommodations in the same block for half of their prices.

This hostel, is at the heart of Cairo. All the rooms, WC, and the living room are very clean. It also provides you breakfast! The people of the hostel and specially Mr Ahmed the manager of museum hostel are very very friendly, open to every question that someone has and they always give you tips about every place that they recommend you to visit. This place is the best place that someone can live while he is downtown. I recommend it definitely!!!

It is the BEST place to stay. The time i spend in this hostel was the best of all my trips. Mr Ahmed is such a great men, he , and the staffs are always there to help you. I used Museum house hostel as a base point when i was traveling to another cityes, and i´ve never feel more peaceful , happy, relaxed and belonged than in this hostel.

Ahmed is the man. Good, helpful guy with a sense of humor. The beds are comfortable and the place is clean. Good chill atmosphere, and met good people there. Location is perfect. One of those places I planned to stay 2 days and stayed 6. And I'll be back before I fly out.

  • 4/5 Medha P. 5 years ago on Google
Me and daughter were on the trip. For me it was a first experience of hostel stay. The first impression of the building and the staircase dampens your spirit. But then the location, rooms and the people makes up for all. Rooms are good for the price. Ahmed and his family members are always there to help you. They really make you at ease. It was always very warmly assisting to be back after a long tiring day. At the end of our trip, I stayed I alone there for 3-4 days. But it was very comfortable and holly stay. I needed that. After all it depends on what you are looking for. Closeness to Taharir square and Cairo museum is the Plus point. Rooms are sufficiently comfortable. Of course at times they become little noise. But then location is the problem. For a solo traveler or only women travelers this place is the best. Immediately you get connected with the people. Then everything falls in to its place. Yes at times English becomes the problem with other staff. But then the owner is always there to sort out issues or guide you. I only suggest if the hostel provide us some printed littrature about sight seeing and do and don't of Egypt's travelling. Printed maps or informative littrature were the things we missed in our entire Egypt trip. If The Museum House put in efforts in that, it will be wonderful.

Scam hotel. Take price of higher room rates and give very very small rooms and also deny of breakfast. They don't help even and just say we don't have spare rooms and we are full. Please don't waste your money and book somewhere else. Fraud people .
