The hotel isn't like in the pictures on booking. The price it's too high for the offered general quality. Toilet it's literally in the room, a box without ceiling. Design is poor, lighting is very poor, room are very noisy. The service is the positive note: the staff is very kind.

I feel like I had to say something although I did not originally book with this hotel. I booked four nights with a hotel called New Hostgram. Due to my flight delay into Cairo, I did not get the room I had booked online. My quad bed room with balcony became a tiny one bed room. After informing the hotel owner, he said that for nights 3 and 4 I would be upgraded to a bigger room but at a sister hotel...and this is where it gets dreadful. I was transferred to Hotel Velvet ..and immediately I had a bad feeling..everything seems so unappealing starting from the reception...if you can call it a reception desk...like things are just put together in a day. When I saw my room, I was quite frustrated. There was no wifi reception anywhere in the room..I guess it because the room is at the end of the hall way. Every where is dusty and quite dirty..the bed sheets didn't even look clean..there where hair on there as if some one had just slept in it..bath room was as basic as it can be...there is nothing that suggest this place is a 3 star hotel as it stated online..and now looking back..all their photos are clearly just taken just to fool people. I ended up just going to Giza earlier ..called up my booking there and ask them if they have room available right away and got out of this dumpster. This place looks like a more like a bad hostel than a hotel. Please do yourself a favour, book somewhere else..its not like they are THAT cheap ..there are plenty of other choices.

My stay at Velvet 1889 was the worst hotel stay of my life so far. The receptionist refused giving me bed covers and told me to turn the A/C on instead. It is February, and it's Cairo nights are incredibly chilly. When I contacted the customer service, they told me the same thing and the A/C would be more than enough! I felt completely humiliated and dehumanised. The bedsheets had body hairs stuck to them and the towel I was given was already wet. I had to cut my stay short and leave the hotel at 12 a.m. to go and look for somewhere else where I could even have the luxury of having blankets. When I came out of the room, I found that the receptionist was putting together bedsheets for me to use as make-do blankets. The experience was disappointing through and through. They did not even once apologize or show any vague understanding of human needs, such as having a warm place to sleep in in such a harsh winter!

The cleanliness should really be improved as well as the basic equipment of the room (had to ask for towels, no bed covers, no shower gel/shampoo, no breakfast). However, it is very well located and I would like to give a special mention to one of the ladies at reception who went out of her way to keep my bag after check out while I visited Cairo. The room are cheap so you shouldn't expect a 5*, however I do believe as mentionned above some basic things should be improved. Thanks for having me ! :-)

This place is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Starting from the poor rooms condition, horrible and rude attitude from the receptionist “the girl who works in the morning”, to every single thing about this place. I wouldn’t recommend this place what so ever. I even got sick because of how it’s very unhygienic.

    1. There is no elevator (lift) as in the pictures, so we have to bring luggages up to 2nd floor. When we ask for help, they said, there is no one to help. That's okay. If you travel with big, heavy luggages please avoid. The lift operates from 1st floor to top floor only. 2. The lady in the reception ask for more money for 'tax', so we paid more than offered in apps. She asked us to cancel the booking, and pay by cash in USD instead. 3. The weren't enough towels for 3 of us. Need to ask. No toiletries, toilet paper (need to ask), no free bottle water (u have to buy). 4. My friend took 1 bottle water, but the lady insist that we actually took 2 instead. We should have took a picture before. 5. Breakfast did not start before 8 am I guess because no one is around when we go check at kitchen, so we left for a cafe nearby. 6. Location is okay but there will be non-stop noise at night. Light sleepers need to be prepared.

Noisy, badly illuminated, toilet offers no privacy. We had to ask to change rooms as the shower drain was clogged and it made the toilet become full of water

(Translated by Google) At first I was booking on booking The rooms were almost perfect, I mean, not in the required situation, but after booking more than 3 times, I met the manager personally and he gave me my request, which I wanted, and the most suitable price among all hotels.

(Translated by Google) It is nice, but the problem is the separations between the rooms, some of them are wood and there is no privacy and the mattresses are supposed to be more clean than that. The staff are very cooperative and their reception is nice for the customer and the room is considered complete with a screen, a refrigerator, a cupboard, and a private bathroom (Original)

Centrally located , very convenient, cosy room. it would have been better had there been a mirror and a dustbin in the room and a hook to keep the towel in the bathroom. The service is very good. Break fast and coffee are fine. The service of staff especially Mr. Bishnoy and miss Nourhan are excellent. .

(Translated by Google) A very nice hotel and very respectable people, especially Mrs. Marilyn, because she convinced me to stay in the Velvet 1889 Hotel, although I have seen many other beautiful hotels, but the honesty is so convincing that I felt that if I stayed there, I would lose a lot. Also, M / Rania handed over to Amr Zouk Very 👍👍 .... Thank you Velvet 😍😍 (Original)

We stayed here only one night. The rooms could be more clean. We had to ask for soap, towels and toilet paper. The man and woman at the reception speak good english and had some tips, and were handsome. The bathroom doesn't invite to take a shower, and there were some mosquitos in the night (and on the walls, from the previous guests). At night (because of center of cairo) it's noisy so take noise stoppers with you. Breakfast was not existing (and the kitchen prevents us from trying tea and so on). The pictures here gave a wrong impression in our opinion. Warning: we originally booked Hotel Velvet 1928, but we were told there was an bathroom problem and were guided to Hotel Velvet 1889. Dunno if it was the right information or why this happened.

I have never seen anything worse than this place in my life. It is very dirty and the employees take advantage of the customers and are not nice. The place is full of mosquitoes, and the place is very annoying from the sound of cars on one side and on the other hand it is annoying from the employees and their unpleasant voices. In the evening, the place is a gathering of girls and young men as if you are in a An immoral place, and I do not forget the bathroom without a roof and the bad smells emanating from it. The water there has a very bad smell. Believe me, I do not recommend it at all if you want comfort and cleanliness.
