Sultan Al zahir baybars Mosque One of the most ancient historical mosques in egypt, it looks nice and beautiful, and its architectural view is most lockable and mind-blowing.

Finally I could write a review on one of the most waited moments. Finally I could say that it's a must visit place for it's authentic vibes. One of the most important Mosques in Cairo, is finally finished after years of Renovation. ❤️ The place is opened during prayers, you can visit with your families any time. Everyone is welcomed to visit this place. The main room is a must, as it took them a lot to get it done.

Large, heavily restored mosque from 1269. Originally built for refugees displaced by Mongol invasions, using marble and timber Baybars acquired in his campaigns against the crusaders. The government of Kazakhstan recently paid for a complete renovation. Most of the windows, columns and stucco are new, with just the area near the mihrab having some original elements. It still makes for a wonderful site, especially the vastness of the space. I took the metro to El Geish, visited here, and then walked south into Islamic Cairo, which worked out great. No entry fee. No hassle from the mosque attendants. Only entry is from the south.

I like that precise place & everything about it...yet it's risky to go pray there as its been almost more than a decade & it's under renovation & reconstruction operations that took a lot of the spirit of the place! Mess is the word when you tour the place....
