I visited this Mosque in Al khalifa district (called Darb Al Sebaa or Darb ال البيت)Mosque of Sayyida Sakina Bent El Hussein is one of the popular placed in Cairo. El Sayyida Sakina was the daughter of El Husein, grandson of Prophet Mohamed, the wife of Abd Allah Ibn El Zubair Ibn El Awam. She witnessed the War of Carbalaa where her father and her two brothers and a large number of her relatives and of the Muslims were martyred. Numerous people usually visit the mosque especially in the day of Mulid El Sayyida Sakina, regarding it as a more blessed place. This mosque dates back to the Umayad period and this appears clearly in its style of decoration. The façade of the mosque is handsomely decorated with Kufic inscriptions and geometrically patterned Islamic decorations. The portal of the mosque is surmounted with a medium-size dome with fascinating Islamic decorations and floral paintings sided by a Minaret of Ottoman style. In one of the corners of the interior plan, stands the mausoleum of Sayyida Sakina with cleverly decorated silver screen around it. Worth admiration in the interior plan of the mosque is the magnificent marble inlaid Mihrab and the wooden Minbar with fascinating star shapes and other geometric patterned ornament. Remarkably, in one of the corners of the mosque stands a luxurious wooden seat with Islamic decoration known as Dikka where the retailer of Quran usually stays to be heard by all the people in the mosque.

A beautiful Mosque located in the heart of Cairo in the old city. I really loved the mosque, they are renovating it. We had the chance to pray at night and quietness and great peace were in us. The value of the mosque stem from that it contains the corp of Sayyida Sakina daughter of sayduna Al Hussain who is the son of sayyida Fatima daughter of the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. Moreover, the Mosque is a peice of Islamic architecture which is unique and loved by Egyptians.

The mosque houses the maqam of Syeda Sakina, the beloved daughter of Syedna Imam El Hussein, who witnessed the brutal martyrdom of the male lineage of the Prophet in Karbala, Iraq. This mosque is on the road to the mosque of Syeda Nafissa, and is well worth a visit if only to witness how the non affluent citizens of Cairo honour the legacy of the Prophet's household.

Place is clean,quite, beautiful you can feel good feelings but place's size not big

The mosque looked magnificent. Unfortunately, I was not able to go inside the mosque. You will find the mosque in a very down to earth neighborhood, but that's how unique it is. I was worried about the security of the neighborhood since I walked in a bit dark street before arriving there and since one of the people in the neighborhood asked me for money because I took photos of the mosque. Apparently, he was joking. I believe that some of the unique things about this mosque are its unique and beautiful architecture and big size in that neighborhood. Also, it is really wonderfully litup with green lights and that makes you feel as if you exist in a world of magic.
