A very cool and nice place to visit. There are many activities to do there like high rope, low rope, captain rope, and more. People are very helpful and nice. Driving is certainly better than public transportation. You might not find the best food there; so it is preferable to get sandwiches with you. If you are physically fit and a risk-taker, it is better to skip easy activities ex. low rope and do high rope or captain rope.

A different spiritual experience ♥️ The atmosphere and the welcoming people there make you feel so relieved. Um sure I will go there again and again. The place is like a complex which has many different zones with different activities. Also, it’s so easy to go there. Anyone in the area will help you with their best ♥️

Route to reach there is too crowded and full of garbage shops. It's a horrible experience for me. You will find some kind of smell everywhere.

The area of the monestary is part of a bigger complex that includes the Cave Church as well. There is even a zip line operation. It is a lively place were tourist mix with locals. A good and safe experience .

You will have to face two things before you experience this cool, intersting and visually stunning place The complicated way of getting there and the unpleasant smell of "garbage city" With that being said It was worth it for me. P.s you could miss some of the stuff there because of the sign system so ask the people there if you are missing anything just to make sure

This was the first and last time to visit this place. I don't recommend it it for anyone, not local or foreigner. In order to get into this place, u have to go all the way through the garbage city, which was a complete disaster nevertheless the smell. When i finally arrived to the destination the first thing i saw there was 3 Asian tourists leaving or trying to leave the place but the people were surrounding and harassing them they even pushed me away to get to them and this is completely unacceptable. The smell of the entire place was horrible. I really didn't like going there at all.

This Egyptian church is like a cave in mokatam mountain in winter it is cold but in summer it is cool you can't reach here by touristic bus but you can use a mini bus or smaller vehicles and I wish the ministry of tourism would enhance the roads leading to this touristic church.

Impressive church building inside the mountain. Quite difficult to get to, narrow and smelly road.

Beautiful! Not the best scenery on the way, as you have to go through garbage city, but well worth it!

Nestled at the heart of Mokattam Mountain in southeastern Cairo, St. Simon Monastery, also known as The Cave Church, is the largest church not only in Egypt but also in the Middle East. The Cave Church is located in an area known as the Zabbaleen city, meaning literally ‘garbage city’. This city has the largest population of garbage collectors and recyclers in Cairo.

One of the must visit place in Cairo. Although it is far off the tourist track but still rewarding. If you are coming by yourself, you will need to go through the city with lots of rubbish. The journey is quite unpleasant.

It's an amazing place The whole monastery is inside the mountain There is a parking place but the way to the monastery is totally in mess, no signs or indications and the way itself is not smooth Once u enter the place u will definitely know that you are seeing something different The church is huge and totally inside the mountain in amazing panorama view

Nice senic spot but not easy to get there. The traffic to get there is terrible and the lane/road very small. Also need luck to get taxi willing to pick u up from the church. Dispite of the traffic, it's a five star place to visit.

Must visit!!! I loved it!! People are friendly and helpful! It is very clean inside and the cave church is just amazing! Virgin Mary and Saint Simon Cathedral It was a cave ( ceiling height was one meter) It the biggest church carved in the world. It was carved in 1986 until 1991 and It has 21000 seats. Absolutely marvelous and breathtaking! To come to it you drive through the Garbage City (which is also worth seeing) and then you arrive at this rare marvel of peace and tranquillity. Only huddled is to reach the chruch (if you are going to use UBER or any public transportation). Quite a challenge to get there through a very rough neighborhood not even taxi or uber want to go to the top have to take a auto rickshaw (tuk tuk) to cross to reach the top but once you get there be prepared to see something really unique.
