Anywhere mother in law has made an institution and supported over the last ten years is deserving of the praise I'm about to pour on it. This place is just amazing. The food incredible. The service charming and the wine is absolute nectar. It's quite an an unassuming frontal situated in the old fishing port overlooking the main Calais harbour. Now I've been a few times. I know what I'm in for. It's a good time at a great price with an exciting gastronomical experience. The menu changes and is an intellectual fair-ground ride. That ends with you feeling brilliant about the world. This is a proud restaurant. The chef has worked hard here to build this place into what it is today. It's very French. Very good and very recommended. Matthieu Collin cares about the food and the palate sings in appreciation. One of my favourite eateries on planet earth. There's few places I'd go through immigration (twice) just for lunch. This is one of them I already can't wait to come back.

Absolutely fantastic, delicious food, appealing atmosphere and brilliant service , we were very well looked after. The price is reasonable compared to similar places we have visited in Europe. We will be back to Le Grand Bleu when next time in France.

Good looking dishes, but expensive and definitely not tasty. The service is maybe its strongest point. All in all an overrated restaurant...

Excellent food especially they are famous for fish and seafood.

Excellent food, and enough to make you satisfied before dessert. Wonderful waiters helping to translate their menu for a bunch of people that don't know much French. And even though it took us 2.5 hours it didn't feel like that. The food was served quickly, and I didn't feel rushed to eat. A good experience.

Lovely food and great price

The first thing i didn't like is that there is no menu on English (the city is at the border with Belgium and England). There was only one waiter who could talk, very friendly woman. But the others.. Is it so difficult to learn elementary things in order to make a simple conversation possible in the city with a lot of tourists? Now about the service... First we received the bread with FROZEN piece of butter, without plates. I asked to bring some plates, but they ignored me two times, so we decided to eat like this and when we were finished, finally they brought us plates... The table was full of crumbs, i asked to clean it. Two times they said 'one moment', but no one came to do this! About the food except frozen butter. We have got the first meal where one of ingredients was also frozen, so by eat it my teeth were cramped. I guess they had not enough time to unfrozen it and decided to give it just like that. For the second meal they asked, which tuna i would like to eat: Almost raw, medium or good baked. My mother asked for almost raw and me - medium. When it was ready, i've got almost raw tuna, exactly like my mother. So why do you ask me then, which one i prefer?! The dessert was bad either. There was one with citrus and i understand that it means that people should feel the taste of lemon, but not like you have putted in a half bottle of acid. Impossible to smallow. I see that the most of reviews of this restaurant are positive and it is nice that there are a lot of people who like it. But to me and my mother it was very bad experience. Beautiful presentation of meals and that's it. Weirdly combination of ingredients, we could not enjoy of the food and service for sure.

Service Excellence 110% A Multitude of Exquisite flavours with our mouthwatering dishes and the presentation is a visionary delight!!! Compliments to the chef indeed!! We was told or recommended to go next door ….I’m so glad they refused us due to our dog. All I can say is we stumbled upon a little gem of a restaurant . Who had know problem with having our dog lay near us out of the way ! Great ambiance, an opulent decor restaurant that provides wonderful high standard of food. Highly recommend
