When we came to this location the big waterbody was still used for fishing, bathing and so on. From my house I would often look at the simmering water. It was very calm and soothing. But like all good things on the earth the tranquil waterbody got covered with hyacinth. Fishing and bathing stopped. The market nibbled at the area. Today practically it is hidden from the view. There is notice informing that it has been acquired by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation as the owners of the pond has failed to maintain it. But the KMC is yet to spruce it up and beautify it like other waterbodies of the city.

You can say the cheapest market in kolkata. Very useful for fresh vegetables & fish. The area is very crowded. The large pond at the back of the market really needs to pay attention. Again the construction work for underground sewerage should not delay as it hampers the traffic on B.H Road. If these issues are solved in the near future, it may become a good place to reside. For the Thakurpukur bazar metro station, local people can enjoy a smooth communication with the major parts of the city.
