👍👍 Now, the name of the place PIR BAHARAM is something misleading...in old nostalgic sentimental Bardhaman ( Pairakhana Gali ) you will find the place PIR BAHARAM...which is actually a mausoleum of not only famous Pir Baharam Sakka, but also many of his disciples and at the same time in this mausoleum... People often mention Sher, Afghan, Bardhaman, Tomb, Mughal, tomb, Khan, Jehangir,

Now, the name of the place PIR BAHARAM is something misleading...in old nostalgic sentimental Bardhaman ( Pairakhana Gali ) you will find the place PIR BAHARAM...which is actually a mausoleum of not only famous Pir Baharam Sakka, but also many of his disciples and at the same time in this mausoleum you will find the True History of Bardhaman..the Tomb of Sher Afgan and that of Kutubuddin. But religion is always more powerful than history...the place is famous as Pir Baharam, not Tomb of Sher Afgan, the mighty ruler of Bardhaman. Pir Baharam Sakka was a Chagtai Turk during the reign of Humayun, famous for his love of people and self sacrificing services. He distributed water among the thirsty, that's why he was SAKKA... Water Distributer. He passed away in 1563_1564 AD in Burdwan. Here you will find that famous mausoleum, properly maintained .... a place of worship.🙏🙏🙏

Rare glow of history. Connected with the Mughal Flavour of India. Ali Quli Khan married Meher Un Nisa. Got the title of Sher Afghan by the Mughal Emperor Akbar. Meher Un Nisa, being the Muse of Salim Jehangir, had to marry Sher Afghan and leave Agra. Both came to Bardhaman for a new settlement. Jehangir, being aggrieved of this fact, sent his cousin Kutub Ud Din to elope Meher. Kutub and Sher Afghan fought and killed each other. Since then they have been lying here. Meher was dragged back to Agra and later married to Jehangir and became Noor Jehan, the most illustrious and powerful queen of Mughal Dynasty.

Tomb of Sher Afghan, Bardhaman CATEGORIES:HISTORY Attractions near Tomb of Sher Afghan, Bardhaman Attractions similar to Tomb of Sher Afghan, Bardhaman < BACK TO PLACES TO VISIT IN BARDHAMAN Tomb of Sher Afghan is one of the prominent tourist place in Burdwan. Numerous tales surround Sher Afghan Khan, his rise to power and eventual demise. Sher Afghan Khan who was the 'tuyuldar' of Bardhaman during Mughal Emperor Jahangir's rule was accused of having conspired with Afghans against the king. He was eventually killed in this confrontation and his wife, Mehrunissa, famously known as Nur Jahan, who was believed to have been extremely beautiful eventually married the King himself. His tomb is one of the most popular sights in Bardhaman. The tomb of Qutbuddin is adjacent to that of Sher Afghans. The Tomb of Sher Afghan can be visited during timings 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM. The tomb remains open for all days of week. Please like, share & subscribe my YouTube channel "Yaatra Anytime".

This is the place where the tomb of Sher Afgan can be found. It is not really a tourist spot, but if you are a history enthusiast, you may visit here. There is nothing much to see anyway. The road to the place is very narrow and not suitable for big cars. Bikes will be a better choice.

This is a sort of historical place. If you are travelling by car then please note that the road is very narrow and you will have problem if you are travelling in SUV. You can see the tomb of Kutubuddin and other people here. There is also a Mazhar in this area. Locality is not safe and so don't visit after 4 pm.

Tomb of Sher Afghan subedar of the then Bengal and Husband of Mehr Unnisa who married Jehangir to become the Mughal Empress as Noor Jahan. He was murdered in Burdwan in the year 1608. A remote serene place worth visiting for history buffs.

Just east of the Pir Baharam’s tomb lie the twin tombs of Sher Afgan Khan and Qutubuddin Koka. Khan was a Jagirdar of Burdwan under Mughal emperors Akbar and Jehangir. He was also the first husband of the famous Mughal queen Nur Jahan, formerly Meh-un-Nissa. The tale goes that Jehangir was infatuated with 17-year-old newly married Merh-un-nissa and around the same time Khan revolted against the Mughal rule and courtier Qutubuddin Koka was sent to deal with him. The men died in a fatal battle and were laid to rest next to each other.
