As you’ve read in reviews, no photos allowed, which is ridiculous. Personally, Rivera’s art on display is not near the best of his work (although we don’t think his work is great to begin with). The museum, the commie artist, and the ranking is overrated.

Great museum in the house where Diego Rivera was born. The museum chronicles Rivera's artistic evolution as time progressed. I really enjoyed seeing Rivera's other artistic interests and works. Some of the styles he experimented with and the works produced are truly captivating. A must see if you are in Guanajuato City and have an interest in art and Mexican history.

it was amazing to be able to visit Diego Riveras house. the staff weren’t the kindest, no one told us upon arrival that masks were mandatory and they allowed us to purchase tickets and enter, but then demanded we leave since i forgot my mask. while i totally support wearing masks and almost always do, i think they should communicate their requirements before allowing you to purchase tickets. the museum itself was cool and there was so much to see, but it was hard to enjoy after being talked to so poorly by the staff. long story short, don’t forget your mask.

Not busy at all during weekdays. I went at 5pm and was able to get a ticket at the front desk. It takes less than 45 min to cover the museum completely. They have a wide private collection of pieces from different eras of Diego, early landscaping, cubism and so on. They don’t allow to take pics upstairs!

This is the house were Diego was born. Enter fee was 45 pesos. Really cheap and well worth it. The house has 3 floors full of furniture and his paintings. On the top floor theres a theater room with a great view of the city. Only bad thing is that they dont let you take pictures, only in the theater and in the outdoor areas. Great place to visit if you like Diego Rivera 👍👍🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽👍👍👍

It's a must to visit this town. The Diego gallery was beautifully done beautiful home.. I wish there was more of his work but its understandable why there's not.

I enjoyed the collection that the museum has. Being that is was the former house of Diego Rivera, made it the more interesting!! and the period furnishings, it definitely gives you a perspective of how wealthy families lived during that time period. On another note...the entrance fee affordable, including the gift shop. It's a must do on your bucket list; if you're visiting the city of Guanajuato!!

Surprisingly great! Really fascinating selection of Diego Rivera sketches and paintings and collections of other artists (photography / paintings). Nicely curated. A highly informed museum staff member provided some fantastic extra info in a couple of rooms which added greatly to the visit- thank you!

Loads of amazing artwork, include those of Rivera, as well as his contemporaries. It was larger than I expected, spanning through a few floors of the beautiful building. I only wish they allowed you to visit the rooftop. Photos are not allowed, which I obviously didn't know at first!

Diego Rivera home as child. Beautiful building and nice works of art to see. One of my favorite pictures is of Notredam. Cannot take photos.

What a fascinating art & history museum we stumbled upon! Although Diego seems to some of us as a dark shadow of his iconic wife, there are hundreds of rather insightful stories and objects crammed in in this well curated museum which portray depths of his intellect and his art approach. Got to be your no. 1 place on your list this town if a bit of arts and loads of culture interests you.

It is a very interesting museum. It was neat to see the place where Diego Rivera was born and how his art changed along with the different stages of his life.

A collection of Diego Riveras work in his birth home. There is old set up of house onn1st floor and paintings on the next floors. There are also other featured artists and photos if Diego Rivera and friends. Its not a giant collection, one can easily get through the museum in an hour Mos of the historical explanations are in Spanish.

How did Diego Rivera cement himself as a prominent Mexican figure? How did Rivera’s signature style develop with time? These are the questions this museum seeks to answer by presenting you with works and commentary and leaving you to get in the head of Diego Rivera. It can be quick if you just want to glance at the artworks which I saw people doing. As a Spanish learner, I spent about 1.5 hrs here reading the descriptions, translating, and learning new Spanish vocabulary. By the time I got to the temporary non-Rivera exhibitions, I was tired and didn’t really look much at them. Still, I had a great time. A great half-day activity. 30 pesos as of August 2023. Very worth it for the experience.

We visited the museum on a Tuesday morning and saw an amazing collection of furniture, as well as an amazing art collection. The art was well laid out and is on three floors with either stairs or an elevator. There’s also a fourth floor with a small gallery with seating to really spend some time and enjoy the art. We spent approximately 90 minutes at the Museum and saw everything. There are bathrooms on the top floor but no canteen or refreshment area.

Nice museum, however ridiculous to have to wear a mask inside.

Interesting visit. The house itself is magnificent. I give it 4 stars because there is very little English...

Large house with many floors. First floor has furniture of Diego’s home. Upper floors show his paintings. Very informative! Even his death mask. Gift shop has many art books - some bi-lingual. Only 20 pesos entrance

Natal place of the great mexicsn artist. The engineer"s collection show myriad techniques of DR when he was starting as an artist until his muralist movement years. Worth the visit.

Diego's work and his life will always fascinate me but I also appreciate that this museum hosts other artists. When we were there an artist who works with clay was there;Julio Sahagún Sanchez. He took the time to chat with us which I always appreciate. His life cycle work was fascinating.

A must visit when in Guanajuato. The paintings are beautiful and you will always get to see temporary exhibitions. Photos are not allowed for level 1 and level 2 where most paintings are presented.

Fantastic museum with works from the span of Diego's artistic career. Look for rotating exhibits from other celebrated artists.

If you are visiting Guanajuato city in Mexico, don't miss this opportunity to visit the museum, if you line art, this is an important reference to understand the life but also the style of one of the most important artist in Mexico, amazing.

I boycott museums that don’t allow photography or video. I don’t care anymore. No excuses. museums that do not allow photography or video aren’t friends of the public because the ability to share the experience of the museum helps educate others and maybe even inspires others to visit the museum. So for that reason I boycott this museum.

A very interesting house a worth a visit. Has other exhibitions that confuse the main porpoise of the trip - it’s good to show new artists … I’m all for it but here they blend the whole thing together
