Interesting, but not a must-see if you don't have much time or not interested in taking a taxi so far out. Not very deep, and you don't see much, but the guide's stories are interesting, and it's a short, manageable tour. If you're interested in the mines in this area, this is the only one worth seeing. Don't go to any of the others! Those are tiny in comparison, just holes in the ground.

Hello tourist! If you are in Guanajuato and you come by the mines, you should stop and see this church. It's architecture is worth a couple photos (barroque-esque facade and golden-detailed interior); just remember you can't use photo flash inside. Entrance is free of course and they have a tray for tips. They reason I say "if you are by the mines" is because the visit itself is fairly quick and the trip may not be worth to everyone. Outside the church, is a very pleasant small plaza where you can eat some popular mexican snacks to continue your adventure!

This is one of the inactive entrances to an active mine. There are stairs so you can go 60m below surface. Not adequate for claustrophobic people. There's a part in the tour when the lights are turned off to demonstrate how it was before mining technology. Very interesting place.

You get the chance to go 150 meters underground. The story about how people used to work there is amazing. Even people who are not sporty can take the tour without much trouble. It is a bit demanding going up though.

What people say about having to tip the guide is true. There's no way not because one feels awful watching older men walk down and up so many flights of stairs. Most of the experience is stairs. Learning how the indigenous mined is a horrendous reality dose. Depressing.

You can go 60 meters deep. That is how deep you can go safely, so this mine it's the best option in Guanajuato. The guides are really good and you can ask them about everything, but they only speak Spanish so maybe you'll need a translator

Interesting tour of the mine shaft. Going down the stairs is easy, going up is when the challenge begins.

One of the most beautiful churches I've ever seen. Unbelievable.

Fantastic church, too bad we weren't allowed to sit and pray, with the pews all roped off and a guard watching. Made it feel like a museum rather than a church.

Amazing spiritual place. So peaceful to sit and admire the altar pieces and the craftsmanship. The sad story of how families were forced into slavery for mining all these precious rocks, gold and silver

Its a surprise after the short tour to the nearby San Ramon mine. The inside is very well preserved, and the ceiling looks very impressive.

I was there many years ago, but I still remember it well. the colonial architecture is amazing. I was told it was one of the first buildings built when the town was established. the lower portion of the gold alters shown signs of gold being scraped over the years. a great place to see.

Is a sacred space. The church is finished with gold at the inside.
