Magnificent Parroquia de Nuestra Senora marking the birthplace of the Mexican Revolution against Spain in September of 1810. Father Hidalgo made his famous call to war to the local population on this plaza. After over a decade of bloodshed the costly conflict gave way to Freedom for Mexico in 1821.

Visiting this site for 10 years. Extremely historical to all of Mexico. It is the site where Father Miguel Hidalgo stood on the steps in 1810 to shout, with his fist raised high in the air, "There will be slavery in México NO MORE! " With this, he joined the fight, and eventually he had to flee. He was captured in Coahuilah state and delivered to Chihuahua where he was executed. Patriot Father of México. The city of Dolores Hidalgo is registered as the "National City of Independence" and shows up on maps as "Dolores Hidalgo, C. I. N." (cradle of independence) Be sure to visit the museums and the restaurants, of which there are PLENTY.

Dolores hidalgo Is known as "la cuna de la independencia" or the cradle of Independence. This church is probably one of the more popular ones due to its importance in Mexican history.

Magnificent architecture! You can see bullet holes from a long time ago engraved in the front of the building. The inside is incredible and the design of this place is breath taking. So much history to be learned from this place. This is where Mexico fought for its independence long ago. The Cry of Dolores or “Grito de Dolores”, was when a priest rang the bells and triggered the start of the Mexican war on September 16, 1810.

Start of Independence for Mexico, great place to walk a little and take some pictures of the parish church.

This beautiful church stands tall among the local buildings. Please keep an eye out for the intricate details found on the front facade, which are made of cantera. Construction first began in 1712, and three centuries later it still remains as a prime example of baroque churrigueresque style. Upon entering the facilities, gaze up to the ceiling and you will discover a taste of centuries past.

I recently visited Dolores Hidalgo that had a beautiful church called Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores. The church was located near a lovely plaza in the center of town. It was a quick stop for me before I headed to San Miguel de Allende. The town had a charming atmosphere and I enjoyed my short stay there.

It is a very large and well-preserved church. Walking through its corridors, one can see the care and maintenance dedicated to keeping it in such a great state. It's one of the most ostentatious churches I have seen while visiting Mexico.

A beautiful church, and since it's facing the main plaza, you can have some of Dolores Hidalgo's famous ice cream at the outdoor stands there after your visit. This church figured in the Mexican independence movement; there are several interesting, inexpensive museums a few paces away.

Miguel Hidalgo, known as the "father of the independence" freed 50 prisoners and walked to this church with an image of the Virgen Maria and encourage locals to raise against the Spanish Emperor. The rest was history.
