Food quality is excellent and consistent. Very clean dinning room with a warm touch. Service has been a little slower recently. May be a result of being slightly understaffed. DeNovo has a second new location in Edgewater.

Great experience, the train passes right in the front of this restaurant. The food was delicious and my colleagues raved about their drinks. I ordered a piña colada, minty juice and I absolutely loved it.

De Novo European Pub is a top notch, trendy restaurant with superb staff and food. We started with the grilled octopus and cauliflower for appetizers, and were very pleased with both. We had two orders of tuna and one mushrom pappardelle for the entrees The sauce and seasoning on the tuna and asparagus were phenomenal, and the mushroom pappardelle us a fan favorite for a reason - it's delicious!!! The refurbished train venue provides a delightful dining atmosphere, and everyone loves that the have their own parking lot in Montclair. Highly recommend De Novo European Pub!!!

This is such a beautiful restaurant with amazing cocktails, amazing food, and amazing service. I immediately felt at home at the bar when I stopped for a quick drink with a friend. George was our bartender who turned out to be a server. Johnathan took over and then Josh the manager stopped and introduced himself. He is the manager since opening. Food was absolutely incredible and they had so many different options the drinks have tons of variety. A quick stop turned out to be an entire fun day affair. Tons of locals come here because the amazing quality. If you have live in Montclair and is not in here. You were totally missing out I love you Morristown and my friend Tammy and Text Siri is young places to go to and we are totally foodies

Drinks were good and food was tasty, ambiance was also so nice! We got farmhouse cocktail, gnocchi in tomato sauce and salmon with avocado and watermelon salsa. Loved the salmon dish. So flavorful. Will go again. Their creme brûlée was really good too.. better than lots of other places

I recently hosted a baby shower here on a Sunday from 12-3. Lulu was my contact and very prompt in replying to my questions, providing information and had the tables ready as we discussed the day of the event. The staff was very helpful, very attentive to guests, and very polite. The food was amazing - we received many positive comments about the meal. The only negative for me was the ladies' bathroom.

The food looked good and tasted great. The waitress was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and professional Excellent ambience and beautiful restaurant decor. I like the large outdoor seating area.

Delicious food, great and friendly service. We had a wonderful night with cocktails, fresh mushroom pappardelle, and jumbo lump crab cake. Everything was delicious and the servers were very friendly and very attentive. The only thing I noticed is that our table was sticky so much that the flatware was stuck against the surface of the table. It would probably be a good idea to wash the tables more frequently between diners.

Excellent lynch! Fig and prosciutto Flatbread was excellent. Only complaint was the menu...when I go to eat, I don't want to scan a barcode and look at my phone. Lunch is a time to shut down and get off the phone.

NYC vibe place. High-quality food and creative menus. Service is efficient. It is a bit loud inside. The patio dining is heated in the winter but still cold. Inside is tight seating, so it is not the most intimate of dining experiences.

Patrick was an excellent server from start to finish! He was pleasant and attentive and made our stay a good one. Every dish was delicious. The octopus was well seasoned and so so soft! The crab cake was great, despite it being fried and the avocado arugula on top was a nice accompaniment. The French fries and shrimp tempura roll also did not disappoint. The ambiance is sexy and a complete vibe. And the intermittent passing NJT train is not disruptive by any means. We’ll def return and you should give it a try!

We were there with a bunch of friend and Tatianna took care of us. She is lovely and the service was really fast. The foods are not fantastic, I mean branzino was delicious but I am not craving this restaurant dish after a while, it is an important indication, isn't it? So, all is good but not wow, out of 10 I would say 7, 5. I eat branzino (my fav there), and scallops for my husband. We had calamari, gnocchi (which was tasty), chicken wings (which looked good, but I didn't taste them), and Burrata salad in the middle. As a dessert, Lavander Crème brûlée ( we ordered, u can taste the lavender. It was ok), Panna Cotta ( mostly blueberries and strawberries plate) and pistachio tiramisu ( I don't like tiramisu so no comment) The place is located right next to the train station so don't be shocked when you hear the noise. It's not much disturbing tbh. Might be a plus to the restaurant’s atmosphere.

I was in the area with a friend and decided to check out this place. So glad we did! We came in fairly early when the place was just setting up for the night. There were just a handful of customers at the bar, but never did I feel ignored or overlooked. Jorge and Jonathan at the bar were wonderful! The cocktails were fantastic, and they immediately made us feel like long time patrons. Josh the manager was a pleasure. He introduced himself to us and just like Jorge and Jonathan, he too made us feel right at home. He hugged us at the end of the night as we were leaving. The food was spectacular. We had vegetarian risotto and fried calamari. I cannot wait to come back again! Fantastic place and I’m sad I didn’t know about it sooner!

It's kind of funny that this place calls themselves "European" because it is your classic extremely rushed American restaurant. We went here for a special occasion and my family members drove an hour and a half to get here. We were very hungry when we arrived so when we ordered our drinks, I asked if would be getting bread. Our server replied that we would get bread after we order our meals. The whole time we were eating, we were rushed to finish our meals, with the server going to grab a plate from two members of my party before they were finished. My brother was excited to try their drinks (he had heard they were good) and ordered a second drink with his meal. It was clear he had to chug it because they really wanted our table. Also I had the gnocci and it was very mushy. Maybe since they added the sushi they are overwhelmed, but this used to be a good place.

Came here for drinks and food and left very happy and full. Apps: grilled octopus is very flavorful and perfectly cooked. Clams were plentiful and well seasoned Mains: halibut- it was the special of the day and it was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing.

Super cute spot!!! You would not even think there was restaurant in that location. Gets very busy so I suggest make reservations. Open at 5pm. Lots of drink choices. Food was tasty, you Can tell they take time and make an effort to make sure the food is good. Food presentation awesome. Great customer service. First time at De Novo. Lively atmosphere and cool little spot. Awesome parking lot which is rare in Montclair. Service was a little slow to get to us, but they were slammed. Everyone we interacted with was nice. Food was great as well as the drinks. Calamari appetizer was very good. My main course of the Black and White Tuna was cooked perfectly. Would definitely stop back in for a meal in the future.

We drove 35 minutes for this restaurant to get out of town on Valentine’s Day. It felt a little far, but when we got there we immediately realized it was completely worth it. The ambience was great; we sat down at the bar and the bartender was awesome. Everyone seemed happy to be there and when we ended up sitting at our table our waiter was phenomenal as well. The appetizer options were awesome and our entrées included homemade pasta. Really fast service too!

Took my fiancé out for her birthday dinner service was horrible when her meal came out she tasted it. She did not like it so Call over the waiter explain to him that the meal was very fishy did not offer to replace the meal but asked her if she would like to wrap it and take it home which to me makes absolutely no sense he also did not tell the manager she literally had two bites of it and still charged us for the meal which is not a problem but it did affect his tip I would not recommend this restaurant I know you can’t make everybody happy at least make an effort

Josh is super warm & welcoming! He made my date and I feel so at home- seated us at the bar for drinks and small plates and we had a beautiful night ! The bartenders do a stellar job and are so accommodating and friendly. I couldn't recommend a better place to go on a Saturday night even when super crowded you are made to feel super welcomed! Great food great ambience great attitude! Do not miss De Novo!

What a magical place - food is amazing. Service as friendly as it can be… our plates were delightful, desserts 🍮 and drinks as well. Wait for the train to pass as there’s a station right outside. Highly recommended!

Good food with rushed service! I was in the restaurant industry a long time managing 3-4 star restaurants so I know what to expect when I’m paying $33 for a hanger steak & $28 for salmon….Customer Service! We felt rushed from the moment we sat until we left; this was a Sunday night. There was no reason for the waitress to approach our table of 2 as many times as she did. We felt as if we were at a turn & burn diner instead of a nice, unique restaurant in Upper Montclair. People can get good food anywhere, but what they want is the full restaurant experience. DeNovo is more interested in your money. We won’t be back.

Disappointed... four of us, not too busy, ~$380 w alcohol & tip... for that amount, I expect little things... you know, like getting our order correctly. Also, the food was good, but I don't know if it was good enough for the price.?. The best thing about the place was the key lime pie. I don't plan on going back.

Food was absolutely delicious! Will come here again with friends! They even have gluten free options for my fiancé! They have the most amazing BREAD as appetizers and the service here was nice, quick, and smooth! I would definitely come back to try other foods! Amazing atmosphere! All their cocktail drinks were delicious! Ordered the Burrata Ravioli! Huge fan of pesto pasta! Only downside was the portion, it was on the smaller end, however the taste was absolutely amazing!

Very fine spot! We had a table on the patio. The train is loud when it comes by, but it's just occasional! Very kind server, and all our dishes were good, even the coffee! Lively atmosphere. Highlights: fried artichoke hearts, and the occhi di lupo, a spicy veal bolognese pasta dish. Will return!

Amazing ambience. Out of the world cocktails. Super yummy food. It was my sister's first time in USA, she was super happy to visit De Novo. Quick service & courteous staff. Would go again & again.

Second time we came here for dinner and it was just as spectacular as the first time! We had the same server who was sweet enough to decorate our dessert for our anniversary. The service was quick and from the drinks to the food it was creative and savory. We took a Tres Leches cake home for my dad and it taste as good as my mom’s tree leches. This time we skipped appetizers to have room to try dessert. They also have specials.

Awful, we arrived and we were seated right away. Good first impression. We ordered our drinks and appetizers. The drink came out. The appetizer was very good. Then we placed our order. WE SAT AT OUR TABLE FOR ONE HOUR. Our waiter said 2 minutes until our food comes out. We waited another FIFTEEN MINUTES until we had enough and left. Would not go again. Service was bad as well.

My mom held my baby shower here last month, and it was perfect! The manager, Lulu, was always available to answer her questions and even met with her more than once. The entire staff was helpful and accommodating throughout the day. The space was set up perfectly to allow for us to mingle, take pictures, enjoy the dessert dessert table, and see the gifts. We chose the sit down menu (there is also a buffet option) and everyone loved their food! It was the best way to celebrate my baby.Thank you!

Loved everything about this Montclair treasure - great atmosphere delicious food wonderful staff - it's definitely a place I would recommend and return
