Omg we had such a great time here! Video game arcade games from my childhood, pinball machines, photo booths, interactive and coin operated machines, and carnival like machines of all types are here! Everything pretty much a quarter or .50 cents. Took me back to the time. Had a blast. A great way to pass time for a few hours. Laughing Sal was here!!!

Goodness this place is amazing! Was not what I expected but what a great surprise. Soooooo many cool, antique mechanical games, pianos, etc. and amazingly they all work! Free to get in and most cost a quarter to play. You won’t find a better day’s entertainment in SF! Met the owner working on thing that day - super guy! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This place is magic! Definitely I recommend =) I came here 3 times already, and everyone that came with me to see for the first time loved! Last time was the parents of my wife, the connection between them, the past and the moment was so beautiful that I tried to capture all on my phone! If you have your old ones still with you, bring them here! Your kids as well, for sure will be an amazing experience..

I love it! It’s completely free to walk around and look at everything. There is an ATM and a change machine. Bathrooms nearby. Hand sanitizer everywhere. This is a super fun place to spend the afternoon. I am so glad that this place exists for kids to get a glimpse of history they might care about. It was an honor to visit such a collection. Oh and the foot massage machines that they DON'T have at county fairs anymore! Did that one twice! :D Definitely check it out. There are some parking lots nearby if you drive around.

Love this place so much! It has arcade games that you no longer see anywhere else, and you can actually play with it. They also have many vintage/historical artifacts that are still working well. It's very interesting to see what people used to do as a form of entertainment. This place is so fascinating and definity a gem. Remember to bring a lot of quarters (or cash that you can exchange for quarters), as the games only accept quarters (and some, dimes).

Such an awesome piece of arcade history. The vintage arcade ‘games’ are kind of just mini experiences, but that didn’t stop us from cashing out $20 and playing them all. Pictures don’t do it justice (but I can’t post videos here) There are some regular arcade games towards the back and they have SUNSET RIDERS!

A fun place to visit for "free". You can walk in the door without spending a dime, but to really enjoy the place you should plan on spending a bunch of quarters. Some of the items are really eye-opening as to what was acceptable entertainment in the past. Some don't work so well, but some are amazing for their ingenuity. It's deceptively large inside and we spent a lot more time there than we expected, but we had a blast.

A wonderful museum highlighting some classic arcade style video games. Make sure to visit this place if you don't want to spend a lot of money and still have fun. There's a lot of interesting things in here as it's part museum. I had a great time taking a trip back down memory lane.

Decided to go on board the liberty ship at Peir 45. It was very informative and inspiring. Be sure to go through the whole ship, especially the engine room. They engine was used for the movie, Titanic! Last fully functioning ship of its kind. Wish I took more photos, but I guess you have to go see for your self.

Don’t skip this old-fashioned spot featuring antique coin-operated vintage mechanical instruments & games as you stroll the coastline of The Embarcadero. Resist the tempting aroma of Bay Area chowder or fish & chips and step into a world of nostalgia (if you can relate or have heard your grandparents talked about) at Pier 45 near to Taylor Street. This is a treasure chest of privately owned mechanical musical instruments and antique arcade artifacts, which you can play with a quarter or 50 cents. Admission is free. Let the pictures speak for themselves and see if you recognize any of these before the days of computers and mobile devices.

Weird, wonderful, quirky and awesome! Take lots of quarters, it’s very interactive!! Amazing to see the really old mechanical machines, and you have to see Laughing Sal! She’s spooky and weird at the same time. Also, you can re visit your younger game days when you had to go to arcades to play! And it’s free to get in!! A must see place to visit, they don’t make museums like this in many places.

this is such a unique and fun experience. You have to try it if you are visiting fisherman‘s wharf, they have hundreds if not thousands of antique arcade machines in this warehouse type of building and you can spend so much time just walking around looking at all of the old machines almost all of them worked and we’re quite fun there are no restrooms or snacks or drinks in this building, so bring some if you want to spend a lot of time in here

  • 5/5 Kathleen G. 2 years ago on Google
An amazing place with endless arcade games as old as the 19th century as well as more modern games like Pac Man and pinball. It was so fun and also a cool history lesson. There’s a change machine on site. One of the highlights of my trip. I loved it.

Stopped in while on vacation in San Francisco... free to walk in... huge selection of antique games that they keep in working order... very impressed with their collection. It was so much fun to see them in action. They have an ATM there for quarters.

It was really fun. These are old games, so rarely seen in our time. With $5-10, you can easily have a good hour of fun. There are change machines on site. The machines work well, they are in good condition. Thanks!

This was great! Such a fun activity for the whole family, and you can spend as much or as little time and money here as you'd like. I loved seeing the amusements of days gone by, and the ones I grew up with too! Such fun!

Everything is by quarters and seem like a better deal than other arcades. No entry fee and there’s a side door that allows you to go out to get fresh air in between games. I loved the classic pinball machines.

FREE to enter and look at awesome arcade machines. Some of the stuff would not pass the vibe check today 😂. We had some quarters so we used it to see how the machines moved, princess diaries was also filmed here. Some machines ate our quarters and didn’t work but these are super old. Definitely check this place out, even if you do not want to spend anything here, there’s plenty of people using the machines anyways. There’s double doors that lead to the pier with views of Alcatraz island.

Love the vintage arcade game. The spy hunter game brought back some good childhood memories. Alot of fun. Some machines didn't work, but most did. A little crowded on weekend but still left with a handful of fortune teller cards.

This place is AWESOME! So much history in one building! The place is filled front to back with arcade games old and new and they’re all mostly coin machines. Bring your dollar bills! I loved this place because there’s so much variety! And the place was featured in The Princess Diaries, which is one of my all time favorite movies. If you have kids or are a kid at heart, this is the place to visit while in San Francisco. Plenty of parking around the area and is just a short walk from Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Warf!

This place is amazing. It's like stepping back in time to what arcades used to be like. Everything is operational and runs on quarters. Whether it's machine generated music with a puppet choir, a moving model of a fairground, skee ball, or a handle driven bicycle race, people of all ages will enjoy themselves here. Entry is free, and change machines are available for all of those quarters.

We had a fun time here. They have a lot of old interactive mechanical games and plenty of arcade games. Price ranges from 25¢ to 2$ per game. There are also 2 claw machines if you would like to get some souvenir, one of them has 100% win rate, so you will get an item guaranteed. Overall an interesting interactive museum and the entrance is free!

This is a wonderful place of history and games of all types. Free admission, be sure to get at least $20 in quarters if you want to try out the various coin operated machines. These machines are meticulously taken care of and well loved. Mr. Dan Zelinsky is the owner of these beautiful machines most of which is passed down from his father. I remember him from the Cliff House days because of his roller skates which he still uses here. Bring the family, you won't see another place like this in the San Francisco Bay area and have fun for everyone. For those of us that remember "Playland", "Laughing Sal" is here too, give her a few coins to remember her laughter.

  • 5/5 Vulpovile 5 months ago on Google • 52 reviews
Incredible place. One machine may seem expensive for what it does, but it's well worth the money, the lamp truly is beautiful. The rest are very well priced and kind of make you wonder *how* they keep running them, especially in such good condition. Some machines do have slightly unfocused CRTs, but still having CRTs in them in the first place is impressive! Everything still takes quarters too (or dimes), none of those stupid card things which is always a massive plus in my books. Some of the machines are absolutely ancient, and function notably differently because of it, so be sure to read the instructions when inserting the coin, otherwise you pay the stupidity tax!

We are a couple in our 40's travelling alone. This was one of our first stops when we got to SF and we thoroughly enjoyed it! We figured we would stop in for a peak as we walked to pier 39 and ended up staying there for an hour and a half! There were plenty of vintage and antique arcade style games. Many of which I remembered from my childhood. There was no entry fee and plenty of change machines around. For context, I changed a $20 bill and, as the quarters started spilling out, I thought I had made a mistake and would end up not spending them and have to walk around with a pocket of quarters. I was wrong! We went through them all and had a blast. I would definately recommend this to those who spent time in an arcade as a kid. The nostalgia was strong here.

This was a happy surprise during our stroll along the piers! It’s a free museum filled with antique arcade games and so so fun. You will feel like a kid in here, especially because you can play all the games. Definitely recommended to visit!

I remember this place from my childhood, yep, when it was at the Cliff House. The cost of the machines have gone up a bit, but worth the time. I promise it is the only museum where you get to touch and interact with the actual art pieces. So, go visit and take quarters. If you don't have quarters no worries, they have an ATM inside and change machines which dispense only quarters. WARNING: NO FOOD OR DRINKS ALLOWED.

  • 5/5 Jim C. 2 years ago on Google
Great old time arcade. While the video games are interesting, I found I preferred the ancient mechanical machines better. Some were just absurd and others quite interesting to see. Well worth 25 cents.

  • 5/5 Lara E. 2 years ago on Google
Very eclectic assortment of machines. Free admission, and interesting just walking around and looking at the machines. Those who posted negative reviews about boring machines and everything outdated just didn't get it. So many bizarre machines! We loved it! Honestly, I can't believe they allow people to play these. They seem way too priceless to trust to tourists.

  • 5/5 Kevin G. 2 years ago on Google
One of my favorite places to visit in San Francisco. The machines are very fun and not too expensive. The antique machines are great! They have modern arcade games towards the back.

Fun, free, and funky. Bring cash or quarters to play with machines! I like the rubber duckie crane drop, win one or you get to play again till you do.

Super duper fun. A hidden gem and glad we discovered it during our visit to SF. Loved activating all the player pianos and mechanical instruments. Cheaply too!

This place is literally a blast from the past ! Lots of old mechanical anitromic and video games from the turn of the century 20s 30 thirties on up to the 80s . A look into arcade games of the past. Admission is free only cost is just to play the games from 25 cents on up. This is a very fun and inexpensive place the whole family can enjoy .

  • 5/5 Jacinda K. 9 months ago on Google
A neat arcade with all coin operated antiques/vintage games. Lots of coin changers around and most games are around 0.25 or 0.50 a play, seems reasonable to me. What a collection! Lots of neat old sports themed games and old carnival type machines. FREE entry, you don’t even need to pay, just walk around to see the variety and watch others play.

  • 4/5 Adrian W. 1 year ago on Google
This was very unique and fun place. It's cheap, there is easy access to quarters (to operate the games), and it has a great nostalgic quality to it. I definitely recommend it. I missed seeing a few games that I thought would for sure be there but they can't have them all!

  • 5/5 Daniella V. 1 year ago on Google
Loved this place so much! It’s free to go in and you can see all kinds of vintage entertainment and arcade games you can’t find anywhere anymore. You can play most of them for a quarter. There is a machine for changing money and an ATM too. It’s so interesting to see the older games too, to see what people used to do as entertainment.

  • 5/5 Marcus B. 4 years ago on Google
Very cool location with old coin-op games and entertainment. Make sure you play the "Song of the Prairie." My daughter and I thought it was well worth our $0.25.

  • 5/5 Beth K. 1 year ago on Google
Felt like a little kid again as I went in and played antique video games like pacman, old time throwing games, marionettes in action, pinball machines, etc. for just quarters. I loved seeing all the old machines in action as they are apart of history. My 84 year old mother loved seeing things from Playland especially Laughing Sal. It is free to visit and costs small change to play the actual antique games.

  • 5/5 Yereen O. 1 year ago on Google
Definitely one of my favorite spots in SF. It’s like a museum but where you can touch the exhibit. Very close to Maritime Park and Pier 39. Yes, some of the machines are outdated by today’s standards but that’s what makes it fun. 4 adults spent about $10 and that was pretty enough. They have lots of change machines available but bring cash. I would not recommend this place for small children.

My first time at this event and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I suspect it had something to do with the novelty of it being new to me, but it was fun nonetheless. I've seen pictures of previous events and comparatively, this crowd was really light. But it's getting cold so maybe that's why. In any case, I'll be bringing everyone I know in the coming months. You should too.

An absolutely amazing place to stop if you love old coin-ops. They have an incredible selection of gaming and mechanicsl machines from over last century and a half. Also some modern arcade games as well. There are tons of fortune telling machines that are quite a joy. Most things take quarters and they have change machines on site. $10 will last you a good while.

  • 5/5 Davin W. 4 years ago on Google
An outstanding place to come and see hundreds of antique coin operated entertainments. It’s free to get in, and only cost what you wish to pay in quarters, but even just browsing and spending nothing at all, can be an hour or more entertainment. But you’ll likely want to bring a few of the devices to life with a quarter or four. (Change machines are sprinkled throughout, if you don’t want to drag a bag of quarters over) I’ve been here 4 times already, but I think I still haven’t seen all of the machines. If you are visiting Pier 39, then you should take the time to walk over here, it provides entertainment at what ever level you wish to spend and also has souvenirs in the form of smashed pennies that feature images of the museum itself as well many surrounding tourist attractions, and they also have a vending machine that sells the booklets that you can store, display and carry those coins inside.

Visited this classic arcade on February 17th with friends. We had a blast! Spent way more time there than we thought we would, there was a great mix of the old and new. A kind old gentleman offered me a penny when my friends and I were frantically looking for one. Whoever that man is: thank you, you really made my day.

  • 5/5 Harry C. 4 years ago on Google
It was an amazing experience to look back and get to play some arcade games from the past, especially those interesting games I never knew that existed. Will surely be back with a couple of friends who used to love arcade games! Nice to go here with younger family members for them to have a great learning experience of what people used to play before "Facebook" era ?

Really cool place. A bunch of old arcade machines and other old entertainment units. Everything from make a penny, air hockey, basketball hoops and a lot of things I don’t even know the name of. Good thing to now is that the make a penny for Alcatraz is now located here together with golden gate and some others.

One of my favorite spots in sf. With 20$ of change you can get through a lot! My favorite machines are the $00.25 pianos and the large orchestra piece at the front that sounds and plays like the one at carousel in Santa Cruz. Such a grand thing to have in a city with so much history ?? good tourist spot or a place to go on a date

  • 5/5 Stephen L. 4 years ago on Google
Bring back the child in you! The entrance is for free, and you will find a huge hangar with lots of old and nostalgic games you can play for small money. I had lots of fun walking through this place, hearing the sound of the games. Would definitely come back in my next San Francisco visit.

One of the best places I have visited. 300 plus games that cost a penny or 25/50 cents. Hand crafted games from way back and nostalgia for days. Michelle was a great guide and helped me navigate the place. There are about 10 more arcades in the area, but this is THE ONE. Only downside....crowded w tourists at certain times.
