Hello my name is Cat and my boyfriend and I have been living in hampton for 4 months now & when we first moved here we were given alot of promises that have yet to be fixed. I have submitted multiple maintenance requests and they complete them when nothing has ever been done. They just want your money so once you move in no one cares. They have multiple people that works in the office that also lives in our complex that doesnā€™t have to go through any of the problems that we do have paying $1534 a month plus a $35 service fee. Please donā€™t waste your time or money, THIS NEW MANAGEMENT ONLY WANTS YOUR MONEY!!

I would never rent here again! My husband and I lived here for about three years. The first year was great, we moved in 2019. We didn't have no complaints. After the first year, new management came. No one answered the phone, it always went to voicemail. Our apartment was outdated. The rug was horrible and needed to be changed asap but was told the carpet gets replaced every 6 years .. that is ridiculous. It smelled and was told that it was shampoo two times before we moved in. We always have centipedes and silverfish even after putting a request in. When we put in a work order for pest control and after the apartment was treated, over the next few days, the centipedes and silverfish came back. There is no way that bugs should be in any apartment. Make sure you do your research before moving here, highly not recommended. They was also money hungry and always charged for every little thing. Some staff were great, but others had attitude.

Please DO NOT MOVE HERE. When I first moved in this place was well-kept, ladies in the office had sweet attitudes. It has turned into a money-hungry trash complex, they will NEVER do repairs, your rent goes up every year, the people they allow to move in are reckless. Doing our best to get out of here, the pandemic kept us stuck as the housing market has changed. This place has gone down, all they care about is the upkeep of outside and they barely do that. Your visitors cars will be towed from the visitor's lot and will have to pay $250 to get back... RUN, there are better places than this one. Believe the reviews!

Friend and I came in looking for information and availability as we plan to move within the next 1-1.5 months. Everywhere Iā€™ve ever gone, it usually takes some advance notice and obviously we didnā€™t want to wait until a week before we need to move to look for places. The woman in the leasing office who ā€œhelpedā€ us was incredibly rude and seemed annoyed to have to speak with us. We walked in and neither women addressed us and then went back and forth about which would help us. When told we were looking to move for august, we received a condescending comment about needing to ā€œā€˜make a decisionā€ before we could be helped further and that it was too far away to really get any information or helpā€¦.august is 2 weeks away. Definitely a major red flag.

The staff keep asking, asking and asking you to do things (AND PAY for things) but it seems there are no responsibilities for them. Also, they are always in a bad mood and make you feel uncomfortable every time you want to ask for anything. As a resident you will have tons of (monetary) responsibilities but no rights and you will have to pay for utilities you wonā€™t even use in your unit. Electricity bills are crazy expensive because of the poor insulation and the amount of hours you will have to turn the heating on to compensate. They only open the gym while the leasing office is open, so unless you are retired, if you have a normal job like 99% of the people you wonā€™t be able to use it. The pool is always closed and they keep lying with respect to it. Resident clubhouse and ā€œcyber cafeā€? Beautiful but donā€™t dare to use them as soon as you sign your contract because you will get dirty looks from the staff and you will hear murmurs about you. Finally, you can definitely feel how they are lowering the standards in terms of the people the allow in. Managers here are just money hungry and they donā€™t think about anything but stealing more and more money from you. If you want an uncomfortable place to live, welcome to Hampton in Highland.

Things to remain aware of, including experiences we had while living at HIH from 2022-2023 (annotated for those interested in further details): Upon entering the apartment for the first time, the toilet lid was broken on the floor and the floor tiles were falling out in the bathroom. The building we were in was noisy and not insulated well. Our Nipsco bills were always high, no matter what we tried. -- Also, we could hear our upstairs and downstairs neighbors at most times of the day. We didnā€™t file noise complaints, because we assumed that the building was just old and they couldnā€™t help that the floors were thin and creaky. My brand new car was towed on the 4th day, because management wrote me an expired parking pass. -- Due to having temporary plates at the time, they were unable to give me a permanent parking pass. First, they were adamant that I had to pay ($260-280) because the pass was not incorrect. Then, they were able to confirm the pass was expired and wrote the fee off. My partner had to call off work that day, and a friend had to pick us up to retrieve our car, because we only have 1 vehicle between us. I could write a whole separate paragraph on my complaints of the towing placeā€¦ When having a maintenance request filled, we were almost charged a few hundred dollars for something my partner fixed within 5 minutes of watching a YouTube tutorial. -- I noticed an issue with our blinds that needed to be looked at, that I hadnā€™t originally placed on the request. Without actually checking the blinds to see what the problem could have been, the maintenance employee went to ask his supervisor for help and returned stating the blinds were unfixable, and we would be charged for the replacement. Absolutely no complaints in regard to that employee, he was very nice, just not well trained (in my opinion). We were fined an extra month worth of rent ($1279), because they require a 60-day notice for lease renewal decisions, and we notified them 2 weeks late. -- I will say that our lease did state this policy, although it was difficult for me to find this clause because of how it was placed and written in the contract. They sent our Move-out Statement to collections 10-days before the specified due date, and because we were not given the originally stated amount of time to pay the balance off, we will have a 7-year delinquency on our credit reports. -- Management originally stated that the bill was due 30-days after moving out (in writing). However, after sending the balance to collections earlier than that specified time-frame, we were then told there was a separate ā€œgrace-periodā€ for when they could send the balance to collections, but didnā€™t specify what that entailed. Iā€™m waiting on a response as to why we were not notified of this grace-period. -- UPDATE: I received a response which stated, "Our grace period is an internal one that is not disclosed for collection purposes, we want everyone to pay within the allotted time." Do with that information what you will... I gave this review more than 1-star, because... -- The amenities were nice and the neighbors were all friendly for the most part. However, if you work a regular 9-5, donā€™t expect to use any of the amenities in the clubhouse (pool, gym, etc). The office closes them when they are not open from 6pm-10am and all day on Sundayā€™s. The un-renovated apts are not cleaned well and VERY outdated; we had stained plastic counter tops in our unit. The laundry rooms have 2 small washers and dryers per building (15 units), but they were always being repaired so we couldnā€™t use them that much. The traffic noise was really loud where our building was located. I hope this is of help to at least one person! Let our experiences serve as a lesson on doing thorough research before renting ANYWHERE. Don't just listen to what places have to offer, be aware of the actions management/landlords will take towards the tenants they claim to care so much about... The time you took aside to read this is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I love my apartment complex and how fast they handle any issues I am having. I have lived here for almost 10 years and cannot say enough amazing things about the office and maintenance staff. I literally put in about 6 work orders and BOOM...Done! If you do not live here you are missing out on the efficiency and environment. The property is beautiful-When I sit on my balcony I often feel like I am on vacation.

Very happy. Fixed the leaking faucet in the shower, the noise is gone and water pressure is better!! The only request I have is that the maintenance crew introduce themselves when entering. But he was very professional and courteous. Prompt service as well
