BEWARE!!! The mad hatter inn keeper is paranoid. She told me she “recorded” a private conversation with my wife in our room. In fact, there was a security camera in the room!!! I don’t know if I should notify there police or just write it off as a bad, nutty experience. She has a vague unclear rule about required masking but serves a very meager open buffet breakfast with not much on it. The toilet in the room was actually IN the room not a separate bath and was stopped up. Sad experience. The innkeeper seems to be struggling emotionally and financially to keep the rabbit hutch open.

We absolutely loved our stay here. We stayed in the Golden Chest room. Beth is such a great hostess and is very welcoming. The entire location is very warm and cozy. The common area is beautiful. There are nice and comfy couches to relax on and coffee available in the common area too. The Harvey House is in a great area. It's minutes away from downtown Oak Park and from the Green Line. The area has so many dinner options available in the area. There's on street parking available in front of the Harvey House. For breakfast, there were plenty of delicious options. Chocolate croissants, savory scones, hard boiled eggs, quiche, fresh juices, granola, muffins, etc. The room was absolutely beautiful. Even though the house was fully booked, you would never know it because it was so peaceful! We can't wait for our next visit.

Absolutely loved our stay here. The host Violet was very warm and welcoming. She made our stay very comfortable. We came here for our wedding anniversary and we are really happy with our choice. This is a beautiful house with many beautiful rooms that we're planning to check out for our future visits. They make breakfast for you in the morning and it was yummy. Thanks for the lovely experience.

Absolutely wonderful and quaint place to stay. The kitchen area was so cute that we wished we could have stayed longer for breakfast. The tub in our room was amazing

Harvey House is a gorgeous brick inn standing resolutely in a row of nicely appointed but not ostentatious Oak Park houses. The walk up to the front door from the street parking is impressive but not out of place for the neighborhood. The smart lock on the front door quietly lets you in (assuming you know your code) and the beautiful decor greets you inside. The dining room seats many and the kitchen and lowered living room, sporting a bright white baby grand piano, impresses immediately. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the is self serve tea and coffee available at all times, plus some small healthy snacks like granola bars (but I advise you bring some of your own favorite munchies as options are limited). The rooms are as grand as the rest of the place, with ample floor space and high ceilings. Everything was clean, crisp, and modern, with a two sided fireplace and wonderful hot tub for two (other rooms may have different options). In our room, the bathroom was in a separate space, cut off from view, but not in a separate room. We were perfectly comfortable with that, but understand that's not for everyone. The only negatives had to do with technology. If you're planning to come here to unplug, this might not be too important to you. They offer free WiFi, but it was spotty at best; the signal was always strong but about half the time, we couldn't get to the Internet, so we kept having to turn it off on our phones. There was a nice little flat screen high definition TV in the room, but it was the way it was connected to the little cable box only gave it a low definition video, which was fuzzy and both pillar boxed and letter boxed (or stretched out of proportion). The air conditioning was a window unit and the central heater controls were locked at to high of a temperature, so we needed to fight one with the other (we did get to a comfortable temperature but it felt terribly wasteful). On the positive side, the AC's fan blocked out the sound of the trains rumbling by on the elevated tracks less than a block away. Even with those issues, the rest of the experience was so positive that we would return again.

Drove 3 hours to be told that reservation didn't exist even with proof that it did. Lady on phone took no responsibility. Left in the lurch trying to find other accommodations on a very busy weekend! Soo disappointing!

Harvey House is a delightful alternative to a traditional hotel. The environment is beautiful, the beds comfortable, and the service impeccable. Beth, the proprietor, is an absolute delight! I very much enjoyed the last four days staying at Harvey House - and it will be my top choice when I return to Chicago.

Beth is kind and friendly, but also gives you your privacy. The house is so incredibly charming, and each little detail is anticipated. We stayed in the Jimmy Stewart suite, and from the towel warmers to the lovely bed linens, every inch of the room was relaxing and comfortable. We will definitely be staying here anytime we come to Chicago or Oak Park.

My husband and I stayed here for a small vacation in Chicago. It's a very cute place, with a georgous back patio area for a nice relaxing breakfast. It's in a quiet neighborhood but is right next to the train, so it may be a small issue on noise for some, but it didn't affect us at all. In fact, it made our lives super easy since we could get anywhere we wanted via the trains. The owner was super nice, giving us whatever we asked (wine glasses, bottle opener, plates, etc) though she is super talkative. My ONLY issue is the room layout. Our fridge was literally right next to the toilet in the bathroom. Within 2 feet from the royal throne! Which is not sanitary at all. There were a few times that my husband went to put something in it while I was using the facilities and it just freaked me out and told him to wait until I was done (for sanitary reasons, not for modesty reasons). I am not one to care about germs as much as other people. But that is YUCK! And that is the only reason I am giving a 4 star and not a 5 star review.

Wonderful accommodations. Very clean and friendly setting. Between the cat escort to our car... truly a sight to behold and freshly made specialty coffee that my wife raved about, Beth and the Harvey House have set a high bar. Thank you for a most enjoyable stay. Highly recommended!

Beth is a wonderful host. I enjoyed my stay and will be returning. The room was spacious and spotless. The patio area is magnificent! I enjoyed the breakfast area. Lovely selection and great coffee. As a woman staying alone i am appreciative of the security awareness. Cameras in the common areas. Not in the rooms as was in a prior review. I also appreciate Beth wore a mask. I have several people in my life with various medical issues and cannot be reckless with there lives. 10 out of 10 !
