I honestly can't believe that people are so irresponsible.its wonderful but... always throwing garbage or leaving it abandoned where they swallow. Do not leave anything, everything you carry is yours, take it with you, take care of nature

O M G ! Spells Amazing! I love the view, I love the wonderful people and most importantly. I love the stairs, did you know stair climbing is better than jogging? I love cardio fitness this is my new second home.

10/10 recommend these trails and the stairs! Beautiful any time of year and so many options for short and long walks/runs/bike rides. Depending on your child(ren) and stroller, it's definitely an option to use it though the ride is bumpy and sometimes muddy. Also very hilly, so be sure to bring a stroller strap for safety. I've been here for personal fitness, too. The stairs are a good strength and cardio option for someone who likes being active outdoors. They are partially shaded, depending on the time of year and day, but be sure to bring plenty of water! If you're looking for an option for your baby, I've brought mine here in a carrier and backpack and we've wandered the trails for hours (and took a turn or two on the stairs). It takes some planning, but again, be sure to bring plenty of water as the hills can bring on a good sweat. Many trails also allow leashed dogs, too!

This area is popular for a reason. The trails are beautiful and well kept. Ups and down on slight hills. A few bridges. Lots of creeks. I saw a gorgeous horse with its rider. Oh and a blue Jay! That was cool. When it's humid or after a rain just be prepared for mosquitoes. Like others said, some days there's more horse poop then others but usually not bothersome. Not too many bikes, mostly joggers and walkers. The stairs. The limestone stairs. Back in the day I'd kill those stairs. Now I almost died going up only once. But that's the really cool thing about the stairs - everyone is pushing themselves for whatever personal goals they're on and there's never any judging. It's like an unspoken respect and understanding. They are a wonderful exercise hot spot. So there's really something here for everyone. You can stick to the stairs for an intense workout or enjoy the trails for a walk (or jog). Oh and keep in mind, Dogs allowed on the trails but not on the stairs. Plenty of parking in the north lot (off rt 83) plus they recently added a cafe Pavillion- though I'm unsure of the hours. There are 2 Porta John's at the lot as well that are always well kept. My small bladder is grateful for that. Highly recommend these trails at swallow cliff.

Nice trails, beautiful scenery. Was covered in wildflowers when I went. A bit busy on weekends, seems like a popular destination. FYI, Swallow Cliff South is pavilions and walking trails. North is the stairs, but there is a trail from the top of stairs North to South. This is what confused me at first as well between the two.

This place can’t be any more encouraging. Many people pushing their goals, sweating and even kids having fun up &d own the hill. If you’re looking for fun and fellow strugglers of fitness, this is the place. Did I forget that the place has a trail close by? A cool place to burn calories during the Summer. Watch out, Summer Body. Here we come!

One of my favorite suburban trail systems - there are lots of connecting trails here, so you can really hit the mileage you're looking for by just mixing and matching trails. The trails are well maintained and wide. Lots of hills as well as the infamous Swallow Cliff Stairs. The only downside is that on portions of the trails there is a lot of horse poop to dodge.

Great trails and lots of them. Lots to see. Bring plenty of water, wear good shoes. Don't trust Google's posted hours. Got a ticket for being out 20 minutes past sunset.

The trails are very nice and expansive. You do find horse droppings from time to time 🙂. The stairs are great for exercise, but when we visited on a Saturday morning, they were a bit to crowded for my taste and too few people were wearing face masks.

This is a wonderful spot to begin exploring the forest preserve. The paths are wide and easy to walk with subtle grades. There are some truly majestic trees to admire as well as ponds and savannas. You can get to the Swallow Cliff stairs from the trails here if you want a really good workout. Just remember that if you go down them you have to go back up again. These trails cross 104th but other than that you get far enough away from traffic that you can't hear it. I think that's what I like best, the quite.

Nice trails . Bathroom facility. Clearly marked paths.

Great place to take a baby for a walk in a stroller as long as you've got a bit more of a rugged stroller with bigger wheels. As it had been raining some of the trails were muddy, will be even better in summer when the ground hardens.

The view is always beautiful frome the tip of the hill. I like the fact they made the stairs one way for covid. They also have a lap counter at the top. Trails are dry, plenty of views to see.
