Not a good place to work! Certain people have to work but if your friends with the lead CNA u don’t have to do anything THE LEAD CNA does nothing! Housekeeping does nothing all the work is on the cnas. Management only cares about having money left over from their bonuses so the residents get cut short. Not assistant living more like a nursing home with no equipment but one sit to stand for ONE PERSON

While no facility is perfect , Porter Place was perfect for my father. All of the staff took great care of him. He was a night owl and they were perfectly fine with letting him walk around all night and even give him little things to do. He was there for 2 years and just recently passed. My family was all there and the cook brought a plate of snacks and then they brought a cart of beverages. The whole staff came in throughout the day and evening and sat with us and shared stories about my father and they will never know how much that meant to all of us. I thank God for Porter Place and all the people in it.

Not a good place to work, the Mangement is messy, they show favoritism to their workers, they discriminate against people and their families, they lie to you about everything! They don’t care about you or your well being they always want you to work for them even when you’re sick, low pay!!!!!! It’s not a assisted living it’s a nursing home! They stuck me with the heaviest set a set that I couldn’t handle and wasn’t comfortable with and I told them that I wasn’t comfortable with working that set they didn’t care, and when my Boyfriend agreed to switch with me it was always a problem but if it was somebody else he can switch with no problem! The ADON is phony and fake she be talking about people! And the nurses are messy!! They all talk about everybody and ALWAYS UNDERSTAFFED!!! One side can have 2 people and the other side can have 2 people but most of the time it be 1 so it be splits most of the time! AND THEY DON’T DONT APPRECIATE YOU AT ALL!!!

Thank you with all my heart for the quality care and concern you lavish on my mother in-law. She has been there for over six months and this is now her home and community. Everyone and I strongly mean everyone that works here is fully invested in their job. Extremely clean and safe. I enjoy how the residents interact with each other. They adapted to there new environment and are stimulated by their surroundings If you have ever stayed in a quality Embassy Suites hotel this is a smaller version of it

I visited and investigated 15 care facilities for my father. Porter Place stood out far and above all the others--smart design based on current dementia research, outstanding training of staff, attention to the details that enrich residents' lives. My dad loves to walk and wander, looking at the beautiful displays and artwork. He loves the food. He is so comfortable in his room. Any issue that has arisen has been dealt with immediately. There is tremendous respect for dad as a veteran and former law enforcement officer. The words that always come to mind after I have visited Dad--front porch visits since March this year--or spoken with him on the phone are dignity and respect. My family feels so blessed to have found Porter Place.

We had to put my mother in law in a memory care facility. The first place she was in was not what they had promised at all. My wife went on alot of tours and Porter Place fit our needs. I am so thankful that we found Porter. We know my mother in law is being taken care the way she deserves. The staff is so wonderful and my mom is Treated the way she deserves to be treated. Thank you Porter Place for everything you do.

this place is horrible. It’s not clean. A lot of residents have been passing due to falls at this place. They don’t have coverage because the executive director don’t know how to treat her workers so they all quit. Also residents are not getting the proper care. This place is by far the worse.

I made a difficult decision to take my mother from her home to live at Porter Place. Since she moved in I could see she is comfortable there. She has 24/7 care and the staff treats her kindly. Porter place staff keeps her engaged and busy. It was such a relief after she moved in and expressed how wonderful everyone acted toward her. Alzheimer’s is such a challenging disease and it’s comforting to know she is being looked after with kindness and understanding.

I recently took a tour and was impressed by the friendliness of the staff. The rooms available were appealing as far as cleanliness and accessability. I would feel confident and comfortable having a relative stay at this facility and call their home.

My words of advice are, when you need to do something really important get as much information that you can. The time was near that I could no longer safely take care of my wife at our home. I had to admit to myself that she needs more help than I can give her. I felt that I had failed her. We spent a day or two at a few memory care facilities to get an idea of how they take care of the people trusted to them. I will not comment on what happened or the places we visited. I will say that I am very glad that we found Porter Place. The staff and office people are great to work with. Any problems my wife had in the beginning, the people there worked quickly to correct and keep her safe. They talk and listen to me and my family and know our names. I visit my wife four days a week and have never felt that I made the wrong decision. I miss my love every day but deep in my heart I know I did the right thing for her. She is my most important person, and always will be.

Placed my Mom in this Memory Care facility about 6 weeks ago. I cannot say enough good things about Porter Place. It is clean, exceptionally managed and centrally located. My Mom has Altzheimers and I was so concerned about moving her out of our home....I cried daily for weeks. Porter Place keeps her clean, well fed, active and safe. I visit her every other day and can finally just be her daughter and no longer struggle with showering/toileting/laundry/feeding/sleeping and everything else this horrible disease requires 24/7. Colleen who is the administrator goes above and beyond every day. Temperatures in January were expected to hit 20/30 below and I hear that Colleen herself stayed overnight...who does that?! She genuinely cares about the residents and it shows.

Porter Place is a great community for your loved one. The community is clean and they always have activities for the residents to do. The CNAs take care of the residents and the management team is helpful. The staff truly care about their residents.

Porter Place has been a God send for my mom and our family. She was in a different facility before Porter and things did not go well. My mom has been at Porter for 8 months and we as a family feel that she is in thr safest and most caring facility around. Without a doubt, we love Porter Place for my mom.

When having to make one of the most difficult decisions of my life by realizing my father needed more care than my family could provide, Porter Place was there to make an extremely stressful and heavy decision lighter. The entire staff conveys compassion, understanding, knowledge and so much more, all while being a true advocate for everyone of their residents. Porter Place offers a welcoming home for loved ones who need additional care and security while not reducing any residents sense of self worth. From the ever changing activity offerings to the availability of care giver support, there truly is no other option. While transitioning a loved one to a new and albeit unexpected life stage, it is comforting to know those we cherish are in extremely helpful and capably hands, as well as hearts. Thank you Porter Place for the care you provided for my father and all that you continue to do, such service does not go unnoticed.

After providing memory care for Bob in his home for over three years I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and staff. Bob seems very comfortable and at ease in his new surroundings. He seems happy, we feel relieved.

Finding Porter Place has been a blessing. Colleen, the Executive Director demonstrates great compassion, attention to detail, kindness and a focus on the dignity of the residents. As a result, these characteristics are embedded in the entire Porter Place Staff. The Staff is very responsive. The facility is newer, clean, and well maintained. The room is spacious, temperature controlled and kept tidy. The food is fresh and tasty. The overall environment is calming and safe. There is a continuous focus on care and dignity. Our loved one quickly improved within days upon arrival and is being well cared for. The meals and activities are well planned. Overall, I highly recommend Porter Place as a location for your loved one to thrive. The Staff has provided a premier experience for not only our loved one but for us as caretakers.

We chose Porter Place because of its reputation and because it focuses on dementia care and has residents at different stages of the disease (not just advanced). The director is excellent - warm and caring, and very good at relating to families and residents. The activities staff is also excellent. Some of the aides were wonderful and took the time to get to know our family, while others were a bit less skilled. The facility is clean and the food is quite good. Overall, our loved one received very good care, and we're glad we chose it.

The transition for us to place my mom here was extremely easy. All of the staff members are friendly and really care about your loved one. I know choosing to place your loved one in a memory care facility is extremely difficult, but the staff at Porter Place couldn't have made the experience any more easy. They keep you updated about your loved one and are willing to bend over backwards to make sure but only does your loved one gets the care they need but that you as the care giver get your needs met too.

Memory Care can be tough in choosing the right location for a loved one. I've been able to refer multiple families here when home is not an option. They have been able to take on residents that are struggling with multiple issues while meeting them at a place where they can still have a good quality of life. This is always a very personal decision for a family, but definitely worth checking out.

As a therapist who has worked in many facilities over the years I can say Porter Place is one of the best. The staff is devoted to keeping the residents happy, healthy and safe. Residents are treated with the upmost respect, compassion and above all love. The staff treats ea,h resident as if they were their own family member. During the crazy time of COVID the patients have been unable to see their families but staff have gone above and beyond to provide love and support as well as opportunities to see families through parades, face time and window visits. And when a resident just needs a hug staff are there for that too when families are unable to be there. During this pandemic I have heard horror stories about the spread of this virus through facilities. I have been so impressed with how well John from the maintenance department, his crew and the entire staff have done to keep the facility clean and germ free for the residents. Very impressive that there has not been one case of the virus in the facility. And to finish I must compliment the Executive Director Colleen who has worked tirelessly to keep everyone safe. TOP NOTCH PLACE!!

If you like to get verbally and physically abused by elderly people, like working short on staff, like management that don’t care about what type of facility they are, which is ASSISTED LIVING, they just admit all different types of residents who need to be in a nursing home, just to take their money, working with clicks and people who are messy, and working for a company that doesn’t put consequences on staff calling off multiple times. This is the job for you honey. Apply today!

Making the decision to move our mom into a memory care facility was one of the most difficult decisions we have ever had to make. But the people at Porter Place are understanding, compassionate and caring. They realize what is at stake and they help you through everything. And that is just making the decision. Once my mom moved in every single person is amazing. From Dawn and Brittany at the front to Colleen and Kelly to every person my mom comes into contact with. Each person is understanding and patient and really does want what is best for my mom. We can not thank Porter enough for their love and care!

Hello- My mom has been a resident of Porter Place since March of 2019. For more than 2 years, her care has been nothing less than superb! Colleen, especially , has been wonderful. She has a very understanding and caring approach to my moms needs over these last 2 years. Her and the staff have been attentive, professional and provided my Mother with a caring and safe environment - and i couldn't be happier. Thank you so much!

I am a former nursing inspector so when it came time to find a facility for a family member I choose Porter Place. I am pleased that I am informed with any concerns regarding her health or well-being. The staff show kindness and respect. The outdoor enclosed area is very nice and allows the residents a safe place to go. She loves the food!

Porter Place is a very welcoming home for assisted living/memory care individuals who can’t live alone anymore. From the entrance of seasonal decor, to the lobby, it gives you a sense of comfort that Porter Place cares about its residents. Having my mom at Porter Place has given her the care she needs and has given me peace of mind that she is well cared for. The staff, which I’ve come to know, are all knowledgeable about each of their positions: from medical staff, to aides, from the ladies at the front desk, maintenance, and house keeping/laundry, they will help you with any concerns or questions you may have regarding your loved one. Porter Place has daily activities to keep your loved one engaged socially. They have outdoor movie night that included staff making popcorn, snow cones, and hot dogs for the summer movie. The fall outdoor movie night had a fire to roast marshmallows for s’mores, hot chocolate, and popcorn. The staff handed out extra blankets to all that came to enjoy the movie, all the while keeping their residents comfortable and safe. Porter Place’s staff is very friendly and always greets you with a smile. The residents at Porter Place is THEIR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY! I highly recommend Porter Place and to ask to speak with Colleen, the executive director. Her and her staff will be very helpful and reassure you your loved one will always be in good hands.

My sister and I chose Porter Place for our 97 year old mother after visiting many facilities in Indiana and Illinois. When we visited, the administrative staff gave us a tour and spent so much time with us explaining their facility and answering all our questions. It was a hard decision to move mom out of her home into a facility. They made her ( and our ) adjustment easier by giving her added attention. Mom says it is so clean, beautiful, and the people are so nice to her! And we agree! They have a safely you system in mom’s room to alert them if she would fall- that made us feel so much more comfortable with her safety. They address any concerns we have immediately. We are very pleased with Porter Place.

Thank you Porter Place, i am so appreciative of your love and care of my mother. During this terrible time of covid it is wonderful to know that she is not only safe and cared for but is truly cared ABOUT. The communication from everyone is stellar, we always know what is happening, thank you for the skype visits and keeping her so busy that sometimes she doesnt even want to visit. She would be so isolated at home but now that she is truly feeling at "home" there her spirits are so much better, her anxiety has decreased and it is a joy to see her blossom. You are seriously the best that there is.
