Great place for 1 day picnic. Visit the place during summer season. You will be able to walk inside the tunnel. This place could be a wonderful tourist destination for those who like nature, Very few visits the place. A must see place. But little risk is there if you want to go near that tunnel. Should be very very careful when visiting with children.

Free of cost, best time to visit in monsoon season, nice ambience and very dangerous to get close to see because of potholes and slippery. You see and enjoy the view of the tunnel, the tunnel is 5 km long, also the waterfall is beautiful during the rainy season.do no think about bathing because the water force is extremely dangerous

Awesome destination in Idukki district in Kerala, Adventure place. Anchuruli tunnel is a 5.5-kilometer tunnel carved through a single continuous granite to connect water from Irattayar to Anchuruli Idukki Reservoir on Kalyanathand Hill. Mornings and evenings are best time to visit. Also better to avoid entering the tunnel. Many lives has been lost there because of unawareness and Adventure. But it's safe to enjoy the beauty of Anchuruli tunnel and waterfall with Idukki Reservoir. Be safe and enjoy your trip.

Really amazing and breath taking of the size you must consider standing under the tunnel and do really mind it's really dangerous Be really really careful while you go near the tunnel and i was really careful while doing and while I am writing this review ,today there was an accident at the same place of 17year old girl , slipped and fall!! Do really mind that apart from that it's one spot that must be visited in idukki

Anchuruli Tunnel is a captivating destination, showcasing the impressive engineering of the Idukki Arch Dam. The tunnel is surrounded by scenic landscapes, and the reservoir adds to its allure. The drive leading to the tunnel provides breathtaking views. It's a must-visit for those interested in the marvels of architecture and natural beauty in the Idukki region. Keep in mind that the weather can influence the overall experience, so check conditions before planning your visit.

Such a beautiful place to visit. Really wanted to go inside the tunnel but the water level was too high during our visit. We were only able to watch the tunnel from shore. And please be careful while looking the tunnel and be cautious not to slip into water. Those who are planning to visit please do take care of yourselves 💯✌️

One of the scenic spot in idukki district. Located in ayyappancoil. During monsoon you can enjoy the water flowing through the tunnel but we cannot go inside the tunnel. And if you want to see the and walk inside the tunnel better to chose summer season. A little walk is required from parking area to the tunnel. There are two view points in the same spot one is the tunnel and another one is lake view.

Anchuruli, sometimes spelt Anjuruli, is a well-known tourist attraction in Kerala state, India's Kanchiyar panchayat in the Idukki district. The 5.5 km (3.4 mi) circular tunnel connects the Erattayar dam to the Idukki reservoir. The place has a scenic view. Its advisable to come during the sun sets or during dawn to see the golden sun. There are parking facilities for both bikes and cars. There are eateries nearby the location.

Anchuruli Tunnel is Very Beautiful place. Great view of Idukki reservoir. Be very careful because the reservoir is very deep. Even if there is no rain in anchuruli there is a chance of water flow from the tunnel. Tunnel is constructed to bring water from Erattayar diversion dam to the Idukki reservoir.

More comfortable for family and wedding scene locations for wedding shooting. We can easily use this location at night fishing but that not legal.

Quite an experience when you stand in front of the massive entrance overlooking the tunnels beyond. One should be very careful when water is flowing through, as the rocks are very sharp and it can slip easily. The vibe of the place is stunning with the tunnel going all the way inside for 5.5kms. A must go when you stay in Idukki or passing by the place. The road is decent and there is parking for both cars and bikes.

The 5.5 km long circular tunnel carries water from Erattayar dam to Idukki reservoir. During monsoon, the water flow is very harsh and one cannot stand near the tunnel however during summers one can enter the tunnel. No entry fee required, the view of the nearby area is amazing.

Even though it is an artificially created tunnel which connects the water body to Idukki dam, it is actually very scenic beauty and feels like it is a naturally formed tunnel. Beware that the water flow may come unexpectedly and I am not recommending anyone to go deep into the tunnel. Be in a distance where you can be in a safe place when water flow is there from the tunnel. All necessary facilities like parking, toilet facility, snack shops are available here. The road to here is very narrow and not suitable for speed cruising. Kindly don't throw or put plastic or other wastes in the premises and put it in the waste bin available there. Please visit the place and let me know your valuable comments and thoughts. No entry fee is there for the time being. Thank you!

It's a good place to visit, to see how water comes to the reservoir. The water was flowing when I visited so we were not able to go inside it. Has a great scenic beauty. Ensure that water is not coming and pay a visit.

The Anchuruli Tunnel is a must-see destination that provides an incredible experience! The view of the Idukki reservoir is simply breathtaking. Although the water level may be low during the summer, I highly recommend visiting during the post-monsoon season to fully enjoy the scenic beauty. It's important to exercise caution as the area can get slippery, but the waterfall provides a lovely atmosphere. Best of all, it's completely free of charge! Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to witness the beauty of the Anchuruli Tunnel.

The tunnel waterfall I visited was a truly mesmerizing natural wonder. As I approached the entrance of the tunnel, I could hear the soothing sound of rushing water echoing through the cavern. Inside, the tunnel was dimly lit, and the walls glistened with moisture, creating an ethereal atmosphere.

The Anchuruli waterfall and tunnel is located in Idukki district. The main attraction of this destination is a man-made tunnel constructed to drain the water overflowing from the Idukki reservoir and the waterfall. It is 10 km away from Kattappana. It was built during the British time. The name Anchuruli is derived from the 5 small hills which are submerged in the reservoir and they look like inverted vessels, that is, anchu (meaning 5) and uruli (meaning vessels). This tunnel is built in 1974 by the Kerala State Electricity Board

It is a 5.5 km long tunnel. Can go inside the tunnel but not advisable to go deep inside as you may suffocate due to the lack of oxygen. In the tunnel water is there till the waist, but at the entrance there's only water upto the ankles. Good for taking photos

Good place... Due to high flood and for the safety of visiters the authority build a fence.. so be careful.. land slide may occur if we go beyond the limit.. otherwise.. it's nice to see and the scenery is so beautifull.. parking area is good. Some shops are closed nearby. But limited numbers of shops are available.. may be because of COVID 19 some shops are closed. Toilet facilities may be limited according the shops. Only one shop having the facilities for the rest rooms. During the heavy water it's better to avoid the slope areas and land and water borders. It's only a 3 to 5 km from the Kottayam to kattappana road. All vehicles can reach there. But narrow roads for large buses. Food and meals availability may be less.. The view to the tunnel is so beautiful during summer seasons. Also walking through the tunnel may be dangerous. Also during the rainy times the tunnel may be slippery and the water flow may be unpredictable.. so better to avoid entering the tunnel. Many lives has been lost there because of unawareness and Adventure. But it's safe to enjoy the beuty of anjuruly. Be safe and enjoy your trip.

The elevation of Anchuruli ranges from 740 m (2,430 ft) above mean sea level. It lies in the Kanchiyar grama panchayath in the newly formed Idukki constituency. The place can be accessed from Kanchiyar (3 km) which is on the Kattappana - Kuttikkanam state highway (SH-59) *Be careful while entering into the tunnel in rainy season because water may get pumped through the tunnel without any warning*

Anchuruli Tunnel is one of the wonders of Kerala. The whole area is beautiful ☺️. The tunnel is 5.5 km (3.4 mi) long circular tunnel that carries water from Erattayar dam near Kattappana to Idukki reservoir. The only drawback is No safety for the visitors. Even anyone can enter the tunnel without any restrictions.

  • 5/5 Dalbin M. 10 months ago on Google
Anchuruli Tunnel is a unique and fascinating tourist destination located in the Idukki district of Kerala. The tunnel is 5.5 kilometers long and was built in the 1960s to carry water from the Erattayar Dam to the Idukki Reservoir. The tunnel is a popular spot for hiking, photography, and adventure sports. Visitors can walk through the tunnel, which is a great way to experience the natural beauty of the area. There are also a few waterfalls near the tunnel, which are a great place to cool off on a hot day. The best time to visit Anchuruli Tunnel is during the summer, when the water levels are low and the tunnel is easier to walk through. However, the tunnel is also a beautiful sight during the monsoon season, when the waterfalls are in full flow. I highly recommend Anchuruli Tunnel to anyone who is looking for a unique and fascinating tourist destination. It's a great place to experience the natural beauty of Kerala and to enjoy some adventure sports.

Anjuruli is a beautiful tourist spot in a small village named Kanchiyar, which is located at a distance of about 45 km from Idukki. The nearest town from the spot is Kattappana at a distance of around 9 km. Anjuruli is generally famous for its 4-km long tunnel that connects Idukki reservoir to Erattayar Dam. This marvellous tunnel is the prime attraction of the village. Anjuruli is also noted for its scenic beauty which is present in the form of a peaceful and serene environment, lush green surroundings and towering hills.Anchuruli tunnel is recommended to visit during summer so that there will be less water and you can take a walk through the tunnel.

I don't recommend a visit to this place during rainy times. Because the tunnel will be with water and during summer one can visit because there wont be water coming from tunnel. But a great ambiance of silence during week days and avoid weekend due to crowd and pandemic.. But one who love to click will love this place for sure...Stay safe stay healthy..

Beautiful place where we can enjoy the water flowing through the tunnel to the Idukki dam reservoir. The safety measures are less and people should be careful as the path to tunnel is slippery.
