Aug 2022. Staff very attentive and friendly and service was good. Food was excellent although I felt a little on the high price at over £13+ but It was very busy so for the area probably correct. I base my review on the strength of my pocket so others might think differently. Lots of space inside and outside. Pub/ restaurant has several different seating areas and the atmosphere in the place was very good. Nice ambience.

Searched hard online for non-standard food close to Delamere Forest and totally lucked out with the Fox & Barrel. The menu looked quite interesting but frankly I was seduced by the quality of the photography on the website; these people looked like they care about the details. Wasn’t wrong. This was an absolutely sensational Saturday lunch, with assured, confident cooking and some really interesting, original flavours. Service from Matt was great, the place is clean and smart and our dog had a lovely time as well. Pix show a few of our dishes and we also ordered oysters, sausages, fabulous chunky chips, broccoli and lovely wines at fair prices. We will all definitely return. So happy to find a new favourite eatery in this neck of the woods. Thank you!

Delicious meal, great service and lovely location. We had the olive and hummus nibbles, the delicious pea and mint soup, baby gammon, burger, fish and chips , various wines and coffees, and the stupendous creme brulee, white chocolate cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding. Everything was tasty and great sized portions. Highly recommend

The establishment is well placed by the A49 in Cotebrook, can't miss it!!!!! The entrance is inviting, well laid out, the eating area very elegant. The menu for a Sunday was mouth watering. We had crispy squid nibbles and olives with feta and onions. Gorgeous. We had for mains the burger and steak and ale pie, again totally fabulous and truly enjoyable. Well worth a visit.

I ordered the pork belly and I've got to say it was really nice, but come on guys! - you're proper stingy on the potatoes!! I had one potato that was the size of a slice of carrot. Be a bit more generous on this. It wouldn't have hurt to have three to four potatoes considering the small size, And you will have had a totally satisfied customer.

Dropped in here on a BH post visiting Beeston Castle ...didn't expect to get a table but was seated quickly in the cosy bar area. The back of the pub is larger and can seat a large number of people. The staff were very friendly and informative. Good selection on the menu with some unique dishes. The food was amazing...the layers of taste were remarkable! Would definitely recommend this place if you're ever in the area. Ample caring, just off the main road. Garden centre down the road and a fantastic farm shop just minutes away.

Had a really good meal with a mate, proper good steak and a mango desert for me with the different textures of mousse, sponge and meringue. The pub itself was very light, not dimly lit like many others, staff were great though it was quiet when we visited. Menu limited in choice, but this is a good thing as it will all be practiced and great

First visit to this lovely pub for Sunday lunch. The pub was busy as we arrived at 3pm but had a lovely cosy feel with log fires. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Our food arrived after a short wait and was delicious. Presented well, and with an excellent selection of lovely veg. Best Sunday lunch in a long time, looking forward to a return visit

Went camping nearby in a rainy and cold weather … been to a nice restaurant nearby but want to try something new so decide to give this one a go. Nice part: Food is good especially seafood related dishes and service is good as well. Improvement: Waited a bit long for the main course but not in a rush anyway so not a problem. Also little one is allergic to nuts but no allergic check when seated. When little one take a piece of bread (served with ice cream as in picture) luckily I spot nuts piece and take it away. Price is average at London level. Overall good experience.

On & off, over a period of more than 30 years I have enjoyed the hospitality of this fine pub restaurant. Whilst the menu, food, presentation & environment / ambiance were all excellent this review is more about the first class service. The manager clearly knows her stuff as the young people she has employed & trained; our waitress, the young man, on only his second shift, and others that served us were so polite & professional I’m going to say this was amongst the best service, in all categories, I have ever experienced. Well done!

Wonderful experience post lock down, very safe and welcoming and the food was excellent, I was in black pudding heaven. So lovely to see other customers smiling once seated as we didn't need to hide behind a mask. A sanctuary in our crazy world right now. Thank you for making our wedding anniversary a delight.

Absolutely delicious, perfect choice of food, wonderful choice of where to sit and enjoy our meal, no delay in getting served, and in a most pleasant manner... Nice bit of banter, makes us feel alive and normal again. I will most certainly be visiting here again, even though it is over 30 miles away.. Wonderful attentive service 😁👌 Many thanks Deborah Austin 👍 Crystal Labyrinth of Ironbridge 🏩

We popped into the Fox & Barrel impromptu stop on way home. Wow staff and our waitress expecially were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. I ordered whole fish and she even asked if I prefer... she could ask the chef to fillet the fish, wow don't often you get asked that. Yes, did get it filleted the whole meal delicious and cooked to perfection. My husband had the pie he said, ' it most definitely is the best pie he has had. The hanging baskets are a very colourful vision around this establishment, stunning.

We called here on a recommendation from the accommodation that we were staying at the time and we weren't disappointed. The food was very good at a good price and the drinks were also good at a good price. The food is not bog standard pub grub, that every pub turns out. Don't get me wrong. We had Steak pie and a burger, but it was on a different level than the standard Pub. I would have preferred to have seen something different on the menu for the main selection, as I felt it was the same thing as everywhere else, but thankfully it was good and different. As for the starters, now they were GOOD. A good choice and they were good. Would I return and recommend. YES.

So me and my missus booked for 2pm on Sunday. And turned up, went in and there was some confusion. Turns out I booked 2pm for 2 days later. The staff didn't turn us around and send us away, they managed to sort us a table is we were willing to wait about 20 minutes. As we live 50 minutes away we waited. And was it worth the wait!! The staff were all lovely and very friendly, the guinness was nice and the food was outstanding from the starters to desert, the menu is minimal and simple and everything sounded gorgeous so we need another visit to try something else on the menu. And lastly the place was immaculate, As a whole, we could not find a single fault with anything about our visit and would absolutely highly recommend this place to anyone. I would give more stars if I was able.

We lunched at the Fox and Barrel for the first time yesterday. It was a belated meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The place came highly recommended and as you can see from my rating we weren't disappointed. The food and service were both excellent. We shall definitely be returning soon. Highly recommended.

I love the Fox & Barrel! One of my absolute favourite places to eat Sunday Dinner! Booked for the week before Christmas, as it’s just such a lovely place! All 3 of us got the beef roast dinner! Hummus and pitta for starters, butternut squash soup (which was divine) and chicken wings! Also a portion of truffle fries! Lots and wine and ice cream with artic role for desert! Left feeling very happy and full :)

If you need a drink during your meal, then you need to wait for the staff to remove plates from the previous course because they are otherwise absent. The food was good, but no better than anywhere else at a lower price point, and the menu is very limited. We ate outside because of the weather, but that shouldn't mean a lack of service

Lovely pub/restaurant which has been refurbished to a high standard. Food excellent. Service also excellent. Matt looked after us and made us feel extremely welcome.

It may look like a normal pub but the fox & barrel is a comfy cosy hideaway from the world with genuinely friendly staff and some top notch food. The steak and ale pie was especially good. When it gets busy parking disappears fast so do be careful. If your tall watch your head as there are some low ceiling you can bump.

Love love love this place. Amazing food, great wine choice (although it may be depleted after this visit) and a wonderful atmosphere. Got the Chefs table and you can watch the team build your dishes. Steaks were on point and all other dishes were wolfed down. Can highly recommend the cheese soufflé. Delightful. 10/10 Cannot rate this any higher and am salivating at the thought of our return visit

10/10 Sunday roast After a lovely afternoon at hollies farm shop we decided to go for a roast and found the fox and barrel after seeing there great reviews. We managed to get seated immediately, we got the mixed bread to start which was amazing and fresh. The bread arrived warm which was a bonus. The chicken dinner was cooked to perfection. We asked for extra veg and gravy and the staff couldn’t of been more helpful. The pictures speak for themselves. If your in the area I highly recommend

Visited a couple of weeks ago. What a great pub. Atmosphere was good, service was v good and the food was delicious. Had the roast cod and it was probably the best cod I've eaten. Not cheap but quality was excellent. Defo return when I'm next in the area.

Recently been refurbished and really nice finish. At time of writing all covid restrictions had been dropped, however like ourselves many people wore masks while moving around. We only called in for a lunch, booking online via Google, so only had a light bite, was excellent and great value with great service.

We went for a family Sunday lunch and it was exceptional! The food was amazing and the service was exemplary! I had oysters to start and braised lamb for my main, the oysters were lovely and the lamb was cooked to perfection. The wine menu was very good with a wide variety of wines, and fairly reasonably priced too. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu soon, and I would definitely recommend a visit!

Fantastic roast, we visited as a family of 6 adults and 2 toddlers. The food was of a very high standard, as was the service. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Our waitress was very pleasant and the staff in general were so nice. Will be back! (table booked Sunday 13th March, surname Towers @ 1.15pm - please pass additional thanks to staff)

A lovely pub on the A49 at Cotebrook. A warm welcome and the best of care all evening, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We were a group of 9 and each course was served very efficiently so we could all start together and there was just the right amount of time between courses for us to really enjoy our meals. A very good selection of dishes for each course and children's menu available. Everyone was delighted with their choices. A great place for a special celebration.

Delicious food. The main courses we ordered were very tasty & impeccably presented. Portion size was ideal (not too little or too much) and excellent value. Wine is very reasonably priced for the quality. And as for the dessert menu - we would have been really happy with any of the desserts on offer. Service was excellent so really glad the other pub up the road was fully booked. The fact it’s dog friendly is a bonus. Will be back, if only to try the other desserts.

Will definitely go back and try more dishes. I would give more than 5 stars if it was available, absolutely recommend the Fox & Barrel !
