This is NOT the ASUR Museum of Indigenous Art. The institution located on San Alberto is the CETUR Community Tourism Center. Go to the Recoleta to visit the original ASUR Museum of Indigenous Art and textile museum founded in 1990 for a much better experience. ASUR Indigenous Art Museum 314 Pasaje Iturricha Zona La Recoleta (opposite Hotel Kolping and near the "Plaza de Anzurez" and "El Mirador") Sucre Bolivia The information currently on Google Maps is incorrect.

Interesting museum. Alot bigger than it first appears. There are clean bathrooms. There are guidebooks in many languages that you can use to understand what you are looking at. All items are numbered and easy to find in the book. Free coffee or tea.

(Translated by Google) It has a good collection and has quality. It is the first time that I have so concrete and simple information about the textiles of this area. The initial guide knows and explains calmly and well. One has the time to see and feel. It's not very big, but very educational and visual! (Original) Tiene una buena coleccion y tiene calidad. An absolutely amazing museum. The works are intricate and beautiful. The exhaustive descriptions provide a lot of context and are also deeply moving. They are available fully in English if you ask. The picture ban means I have to cherish this visit forever solely in my memory. Many thanks!

This has to be one of the best museums I have ever visited. The layout is well thought through, the display pieces very beautiful and interesting. The books printed in other languages are a nice touch. Well worth a visit!

I was amazed by the artistry. 8 months 8 hours per day to make a 3'x4' amazing depiction of the underworld, and the gift shop sells some of them for $500. I really wanted to buy one.

I really loved this museum. It is original in content and layout, and remains authentic to its history. As a self-guided expo, you can take as much time as you'd like. The shop next to it offers hand-made textiles and is a non-profit. We bought our most treasured items from there!

Very interesting exposition however not very interactive so it is pretty demanding as yiu need to read very long descriptions from the guide they give you

Wow this museum has a great and vast collection of art pieces. I was really impressed. Super interesting and educational. 100% worth a visit. Also the handmade items there are absolutely amazing and worth buying. Super high quality. If I could I’d give 10 stars :)

Must-visit if you’re in Sucre. Beautiful walkthrough if local indigenous textiles, music, and dance with great options to purchase textiles when you leave. I bought a scarf that I will love forever. Note that it’s uphill from the town center, so if the altitude is getting to you, plan to go slowly or grab a cab.

Such a hugely interesting content, great purpose...and such an awful way of presentation. Please really consider passing on the information in a more entertaining and interactive way. This is why nobody wants to go to museums. You come, you get a book of text, you walk and you read. And read and read and read. I am a person who's always interested in everything in all museums but this was really too much text to digest.

A small museum about the indigenous people of Bolivia and their life. Very interesting and beautifully made.

An immense amount of information and weavings from the people of the Altoplano heritage and culture. Pre-Columbian artifacts, colonial influences, and how the people today are saving their artwork from going extinct. Celebrating the revival of these skills was amazing.

Phenomenal museum, must visit in Sucre. Detailed description in English with a lot of cultural context. Art throughout many sides of daily life

  • 5/5 Steve C. 8 months ago on Google
Really enjoyed our visit. Well organized and well maintained. Don't have to pay for a guide like most places....you just pick your language, get given a very comprehensive guide book and you stroll around at your own pace. Perfect.

  • 5/5 Maike F. 6 months ago on Google
Definitely worth the walk up the hill! Wide selection and we each got handed an extensive guide book in English to read through, with text clearly marked up to each exhibit. No photos inside, but allowed on the shop which also has a great selection of hand made goods with proceeds going directly back to artists. A great view point of the city is just around the corner.

An absolutely amazing and well-laid-out collection of exhibits on regional textiles, music and dance, and historical artifacts. This is really a must-visit in Sucre. Written guides to exhibits are available in multiple languages including English and French (and of course Spanish). Budget at least two hours for a visit, there’s a lot to see and you’ll want to see it!

(Translated by Google) An excellent source of information on the life of the natives. There are explanations in Spanish, English and French. The tour in more than an hour. The place is not easy to find. Very close to the terrace with a beautiful view where there is a small cafe just under the terrace. Do not confuse with another Google place. Best place to buy indigenous hand made textiles, garments, accessories and apparel. The best quality handicrafts shop in Sucre. Not like the ones around the museum that offer very low quality, factory made things. The museum is worth to visit to understand the development and iconography of the textile Indian art.
