Not only the castle but an amazing back yard. 20 boliviano includes the virtual tour, tour of the castle and the large back yard. Bus 4 from centro will bring you there (terminal) for 1.5 boliviano. Take same bus and go to the cementerio.

A nice place to visit. You can walk freely through most of the castle and it's gardens or use a guide. We had a very good Bolivian English speaking guide with a lot of kowleadge on the history of Bolivia and the castle (and it's family). The guide comes complementary with the tickets (20 Bolivianos). Nice place to spend a part of your day.

This location is about 20 minutes out of Sucre, and takes about 1 to 2 hours to look around thoroughly. The castle is next to a school and some military baracks, and rests between the road and the river. We took a taxi there and back. This should be about 15 to 20 bob each way, and your driver may wait for you, but you'd have to negotiate that. There is a local bus that goes to and from - may be cheaper and is likely caught from the main plaza in Sucre. You pay your entry in the long building on the right after entering through the castle gate. The castle is a self guided location, and is mostly empty. Not ghostly empty at all, but our child took some convincing to go into the cool and dark cellar room.. until we found the light switch! Explore the castle inside and out. There are stairs in/out, and for those curious enough there are about 110 spiral stairs into the round tower where there is an interesting view of the grounds. If the top tower door is shut make sure you give it a firm tug to open it if it is not locked. (A visitor told us it was locked, but it was not, only kind of stuck a bit tight.) There are two main levels to explore, that include the bed and bathrooms, entertaining areas and more. The grounds/garden is expansive, with an interesting finish on the fountains and other garden structures. You will also see the remnants of a greenhouse and the fountains (not-functioning on our visit). The history of the castle is interesting, and you should do the Mueso del Tesoro in Sucre first, as there is a very connected history with people and architecture. The internal floors, ornamentation, and facades give you a glimpse of how fancy this castle must have been in its hey-day. As a small traveling family this was a nice half day adventure that was a quiet location and where we could wander around at our own pace. It's a great place to get some interesting photos as well

Nice castle but it is not in great condition. The paint is peeling off, the fountains do not work, and the garden is not well maintained. Furthermore, most of the rooms in the castle are empty so you are left to imagine how it was when the rooms were used.

Beautiful, tranquil, but a bit bare. It's in, what looks like, a military base so taking the local bus there was a little confusing at first. Overall, wonderful architecture and colors.

There is not much security, they make you pay a camera fee to take photos, which costs like one more ticket and nobody gets to control it. The place is not very well cared for and there is no access to many areas, in addition to being a "museum" the truth is that it does not have much to see, almost everything is empty. But the place is nice to walk around, it's big and quiet.

This is what I like to call a tourist trap. Not even walking there was appealing. The castle itself looks fine from the outside but inside is just abandoned and ugly, not even well preserved. Definitely not worth paying 20 as a foreigner, wouldn't pay a dime to be fair. Not recommended.

Beautiful historic castle. I wish it had more furniture or paintings but most things got stolen from the castle when the owners died. We were one of the few people there. A must see!

Must go spot in Sucre. If you find the ambiance to be a bit heavy you'll probably understand why during the tour.

Really loved it. Even tho not maintained that well I always feel like "abandoned" places have something mysterious as well. So for me a bit of cracks in paint adds something to the place. :)

Worth a visit. Easy walk from the town. The entrance is easy to miss as it’s the same entrance as the military base. Catch a bus back to town from the car park.

Little cute castle with some information posted on the wall inside the building. I like the walk up the round tower but go a bit slow because it can really make you feel dizzy 😵‍💫 good view up the top.

It's a beautiful castle and it's nice to get out of the city for some nature. Linea 4 takes you right there. You can go in all the rooms and in the beautiful park, but the guided tour was a bit dry.
