This
location
is
about
20
minutes
out
of
Sucre,
and
takes
about
1
to
2
hours
to
look
around
thoroughly.
The
castle
is
next
to
a
school
and
some
military
baracks,
and
rests
between
the
road
and
the
river.
We
took
a
taxi
there
and
back.
This
should
be
about
15
to
20
bob
each
way,
and
your
driver
may
wait
for
you,
but
you'd
have
to
negotiate
that.
There
is
a
local
bus
that
goes
to
and
from
-
may
be
cheaper
and
is
likely
caught
from
the
main
plaza
in
Sucre.
You
pay
your
entry
in
the
long
building
on
the
right
after
entering
through
the
castle
gate.
The
castle
is
a
self
guided
location,
and
is
mostly
empty.
Not
ghostly
empty
at
all,
but
our
child
took
some
convincing
to
go
into
the
cool
and
dark
cellar
room..
until
we
found
the
light
switch!
Explore
the
castle
inside
and
out.
There
are
stairs
in/out,
and
for
those
curious
enough
there
are
about
110
spiral
stairs
into
the
round
tower
where
there
is
an
interesting
view
of
the
grounds.
If
the
top
tower
door
is
shut
make
sure
you
give
it
a
firm
tug
to
open
it
if
it
is
not
locked.
(A
visitor
told
us
it
was
locked,
but
it
was
not,
only
kind
of
stuck
a
bit
tight.)
There
are
two
main
levels
to
explore,
that
include
the
bed
and
bathrooms,
entertaining
areas
and
more.
The
grounds/garden
is
expansive,
with
an
interesting
finish
on
the
fountains
and
other
garden
structures.
You
will
also
see
the
remnants
of
a
greenhouse
and
the
fountains
(not-functioning
on
our
visit).
The
history
of
the
castle
is
interesting,
and
you
should
do
the
Mueso
del
Tesoro
in
Sucre
first,
as
there
is
a
very
connected
history
with
people
and
architecture.
The
internal
floors,
ornamentation,
and
facades
give
you
a
glimpse
of
how
fancy
this
castle
must
have
been
in
its
hey-day.
As
a
small
traveling
family
this
was
a
nice
half
day
adventure
that
was
a
quiet
location
and
where
we
could
wander
around
at
our
own
pace.
It's
a
great
place
to
get
some
interesting
photos
as
well
