Nice little cafe with lovely staff - I also really liked the chill music playing. I got an iced matcha and a spicy tuna melt toastie. The iced matcha had perfect flavour, but I do wish I got a hot one instead - I only got iced because I was worried about the spice from toastie lol. The tuna melt was amazing! The spice wasn’t overbearing, it was actually perfect - although I’d like maybe a bit more mayo in it, that’s just my own preference though! Would definitely come back, can’t wait to try more things from the menu. I recommend this place!

Only been in Richmond for a week, and this is definitely become my favourite Cafe! The coffee is fantastic, consistent, served by friendly staff, and I had the chance to try the food today, which knocked it out of the park! The chilly crab scramble was delicious, and the chicken salad was on point too - highly recommended.

ORDERED: 🥪  Chicken toastie: free range chicken breast, avocado, fried egg, chilli mayo ($15.50) + cheese ($1.50) 🥪  Reuben: smoked brisket pastrami, mozzarella, sauerkraut, american mustard, russian dressing ($16.00) It was <$20.00pp which included a latte for two. REVIEW: 💖  MUST get the reuben toastie. It had an amazing crispy top that was savoury and the best amalgamation of meat : cheese : "salad" ratio. The golden ratio that didn't guilt trip you into feeling like you needed to go on a 1km run after to work off the carbs. The smoked brisket pastrami was perfect - rich, smoky and slightly spicy. BIG love from me. ❌  The not so enjoyable was the chicken cheese toastie. Compared to the reuben toastie, I really felt the lack of vegetables. This toastie made me consider walking around the block 10x in order to justify the feed of cheese & chicken. 🤧 ✔️  Service was so friendly! Served by a brunette waitress, she was all smiles and good vibes. Definitely felt comfortable here, even though the tables were a little cramped inside.

Tried the ham hock toastie, it was massive and absolutely delicious which was great considering the $15 price tag. It had structural integrity so didn't fall apart when eating it and it wasn't greasy or oily at all. The bread was crispy and paired perfectly with the insides. The coffee was fantastic and service was quick, especially given how busy it was (10am on a Saturday). Staff were friendly and speedy. Update: the Caprese is also delicious!

Visited on a very busy Sunday morning but it only took a very short wait to be seated. The service was great and the waiting staff were lovely. Ordered the Acai Pancakes and I have to say it was probably one of the most beautiful plates of food ever put in front of me, a real feast for the eyes. Absolutely delicious too. My friend got the Mushroom Omelette and said it was the best he's ever had - and he likes his omelettes. Needless to say we'll be returning!

Simply the best lunch and coffee I have had in the city thus far. veggie fritters was the best lunch I've had in memory. The toasties were piping hot and so good, especially the mushroom truffle for the vegetarians our there. I recommend the pumpkin grain salad as well. And the Baristas can make anything you can imagine with plant based milks. Chai Latte and cold brew were our favorites! We were impressed with the staff too who were both attentive and super sociable. It seems the crowd is all neighborhood regulars who know the staff by name and vice versa. Eating outside under the umbrellas is the perfect weekend ambiance. Every experience has been 10/10 for me. Easy to see understand why after the first visit.

Great quality sandwiches and prompt, friendly service. We went on a beautiful sunny day to sit outside under their nice undercover outdoor area outfront. Both the Reuben and Spicy Tuna Melt were really nice, on delightful buttery toasted sourdough. Absolutely loved The Reuben most with perfectly smokey tasty pastrami and winning Russian dressing. Would definitely return for it!

Great food, toasties are on point every time & keep me coming back! Go to is the Reuben however the food across the board is good including the egg dishes. The venue is a little small however staff make you feel comfortable when there is a wait.

A great cafe serving some impressive fancy toasties. The coffee is also really good. Do keep in mind the cafe itself is small so they can get quite busy but well worth it.

I really wanted to like this place, but I was honestly slightly disappointed in my dish, I chose the Cafe based on all the photos of the beautifully plated food and my one looked like they gave up on all the creativity. My Avocado on toast had no garnish, no colours, no effort. The flavors were okay.. nothing too exciting, but my partner absolutely loved her Rueben toasty and the service was friendly so I would like to give it another go and hopefully get a bit more love next time.

Staff were super friendly and welcoming. The reuben toastie was full of flavour and packed with quality ingredients. Great experience overall. I'll definitely be visiting again

I ordered Rueben, Chicken, Mushroom and Truffle toasties and chicken salad and they were delicious. The service was great and all the staff were lovely. Highly recommended.

A cozy local cafe with great coffee (the latte art looks cute!) We had the green fritters and the chicken sandwich, both are flawless.

Amazing coffee, I think its the best Latte I have had in Melbourne. The Tuna Melt was amazing as well! Perfect spice level for a spice sensitive.

Imagine my delight when I accidentally stumbled across this unreal cafe. In all honesty I was on the way to another I go to when I’m in Melbourne every fortnight, but they were closed. So glad the other one was closed. Black Gold was sensational. I always have eggs for breakfast but the look of the toasties were too compelling not to venture outside my comfort zone. And I did. The Ruben with extra pastrami. Holy smokes… what a toastie!!! I will 100% be back again. Do yourself a favour and drop by. Thx waitress was so friendly and make the experience even better.
