Great refurb of this handy inner city pub. Delicious food, beautifully presented, attention to detail bordering on fine dining. Steak was cooked perfectly and the cocktails also a highlight. Very attentive service and a bustling vibe. Looking forward to returning to try more of the menu.

Another iconic Melbourne pub that has been reborn after a long awaited refurbishment - and what a refurb !!. The room has a effortless cool vibe and the staff super attentive and efficient. We enjoyed the Wednesday night pasta special - which was amazing - and returned the next day for the weekly steak special. The steak was cooked perfectly to order; the accompaniments were great but overall the portion was on the small side (other reviewers have noted this too). The wine list and selection of beers on tap was right on point and, as mentioned, the staff were efficient and clearly knowledgeable.

Wow wow wow! Central Club Hotel in North Melbourne blow us away everytime. The food is outstanding! All ingredients are locally sourced and you can tell that careful consideration has gone into each and every dish to ensure the highest quality. This is a true fine dining experience at excellent prices. The staff are so friendly and knowledgable about their menu. The attention to detail is second to none with an extensive cocktail and wine list that pairs beautifully with the dishes on the menu. The decor is bright and modern and the craftsmanship has evident strong connections to the history of the building and the local area. This is the perfect venue to have a delicious evening meal or Sunday lunch after exploring the Vic Markets. Well done to Vinnie and the team!

Stalked this pub eagerly awaiting a night with the girls. Cocktails lacked kick. The Wednesday night pasta and wine was a hot pick. I had the steak which did not disappoint. Dessert was choc mouse delicious but small again. Overall lovely foot and we were both left pretty hungry. I will return again to try the Thursday night steak night and find the whisky Den which is apparently downstairs but not clearly accessible. Keen to give it another crack!

The meals here are top notch 👌 and the customer service is the best. It isn't an act it's clearly a bunch of happy workers who are easy to talk to and even hang around after their shift for a drink which shows how great a workplace family they have. Can't stay away. Oh and great live music!

Great spot to eat! The staff are fantastic and the food is just as good. I'm only in town for a week and I can't imagine eating anywhere else. Best of all, it was recommended to me! That has to say something. I can't say enough, the staff the food and even the company of other patrons is outstanding. If you're looking for a great place to eat hit up the Central Club Hotel. Cheers

Had a 30th birthday dinner here and the venue was perfect. The dining room was idea for 15-18 people, the food was delicious and I loved the clover club cocktail. Super friendly staff, all the guests commented on how suitable the venue was.

What an amazing place. A true Melbourne treasure. Our food was delicious and well paired with carefully chosen wines by staff. I had the hangar steak with chimmichurri - flavour bomb. I also tried the duck ravioli - so rich and perfectly done. The service is fantastic and welcoming. Vinny and the team have kept the history of this place intact by incorporating the old with the new in the making of the tables, picture frames and even the cheese boards from the old building upstairs. I can't wait to come back when the den is open for business and try some of those delicious whiskeys and even more of what's on offer on the menu.

We went in for a bite to eat. Looks very different on the inside compared to the outside. Quality place. Discovered a fantastic little basement bar with a 1930s feel. Dinner upstairs was really good. Duck ravioli. Yum. Coming back on a Sunday for lunch after the market.

Didn't have any food but it was $15/mains night, so would've been well priced. Excellent choice of tap beers and really good prices for the booze, the prices were really good that it might have been happy hour but not sure. Good bar.

My recent visit to the pub left me with mixed feelings. The establishment boasts a pleasant ambiance, cleanliness, and friendly staff, contributing to an enjoyable atmosphere. However, my enthusiasm was dampened by the exorbitant prices charged for food and beverages. The shock came when I received the bill for a modest order: six schooners of Carlton Draught and a plate of average-quality chips, totalling a staggering $72. $12 per schooner/COG is about $3- 75% GP, not bad if you can get it! to make matters worse, a tap surcharge was added, further inflating the already high cost. Unfortunately this pub is out of my financial means.

Have been here a few times, the first time on their opening weekend. We have been going back when possible. Such good food, friendly service, excellent wine list and the Guinness is just like home (I’m Irish). We will be back soon. Thanks Vinny and team.

Terrible bar service. Average burgers, not a patch on previous burger love experiences, thought it has been a fair while. Bar manager wouldn't ask the chef a question before we ordered, as he would get mad. They got our order wrong and when we pointed it out all we got was a blanket "no". I guess we knew what was coming, as after taking our money I was told it's the last night of the menu and the chef wants to go home. That was evident in the food. Chips soggy and lifeless- yes a loaded fries, but there had never been crispy. Onion stings close to black and cold. Fried chicken was also dark and dry. Clearly a filthy fryer used for it all. Not sure if the fault is with the franchise (Burgerlove) of the venue. The over all experience was a lukewarm disappointment.

Great refurbished pub with new menu Update Aug 2019 - the pub has revamped their menu and it is even better than before. Now it has a great chicken parma, wagyu burger, pasta and fish and chips. All of the traditional pub grub and it's all done very well. The pie even has flaky pastry that is amazing. They still have the kids meal which is very well priced and even comes with a scoop of ice cream for good behaviour. Whilst the menu has changed, the service hasn't - it's still as good as before. Upgraded to five stars due to the better food. I have also added a photo of the new menu. Wide selection of beers and burgers are great. Even my son thinks so. Photographic evidence attached. Back again for round 2 at the request of the little one. Updated photos attached.

Was surprised to see this great old pub has been refurbished and it looks great.Went to see what beers were on tap and was delighted to see a good assortment of craft local beers and they still had a few of the old favourites like Carlton on tap which a few of my die hard mates were happy about. Was surprised to see that the food offering is Burger Love which I hav fallen in love with so that was great to be able to get a cold beer and one of my favourite burgers at the same time. Definitely will make this my local.

They ended the partnership with Burger Love which was tragic enough. The new menu is okay, but the food is kind of bland. Not bad, just nothing to write home about. Went for a team lunch, one meal came out way later than the rest, and without the bacon that was supposed to be on it. The staff were apologetic, but wasn't a great experience. Won't be going back.

A nice change from hotels in town that are up market. I liked the old art deco features etc. Although the noise from the bar etc downstairs stopped at 11 pm, the backpackers place across the side street went to 7am! Bathroom down the hall needed work.

Cool pub opposite Vic Markets. I’ve been her before and it’s good. There’s a pool room, good food and tonight pub trivia. The very are nice, my first one a Mountain Goat Summer Ale and my second beer a Monthieths Dark Ale. Good to see that this place is a craft beer pub. Still alright and handy when your shopping till you drop lol.

The pizzas are awesome, we tried pepperoni & magarita - both we great! There are also great takeaway wines which are fantastic and great value. Get in there and support a good local Business.

Very happy to stop in on my way home from the market! Lured in by the wine clearance signs I was not disappointed. With COVID restrictions the hotel has been selling takeaways. Had a helpful man recommend a wine to suit my tastes. Looking forward to coming back when fully re-opened. Good luck with the return to more regular service!

Great little craft beer bar. Nice place to quench your thirst after shopping at QVM or have a solid session before you shop and see what you wind up with in your shopping bags!

Great pub opposite Queen Victoria Markets, casual, great staff, friendly and welcoming. Food is supplied from across the road. In this time when businesses are suffering it is good to see two in a symbiotic relationship keeping each other afloat. My support anytime!

Great selection of wines by the glass, fully Australian list which is rare. We enjoyed a glass of Adelaide Hill Gruner with their $25 Wednesday Pasta and Wine special. Would recommend.
