5 stars for the upstairs bar and restaurant. 1 star for the live music venue downstairs. At full capacity, I turned a corner and it was like walking through the gates of hell. They need to sell less tickets. The restaurant is really nice, great food and really nicely put together. Interior design is top notch. Downstairs, who thought placing columns throughout the viewing area was a good idea? You will be soaked in the sweat of a stranger who favours organic deodorant. The sound is atrocious. Upstairs has a fantastic ambience. Never have I been so torn when writing an interview.

The best pub steak I’ve ever had. Cooked medium rare, very tender and delicious. Went really well with the chips and salad. Make sure to make a reservation otherwise you may not get a table. Good service.

OK do not go to the Corner Hotel for its food. 4 of us seeing a band who were performing an early show so thought would have lunch beforehand. Big mistake. Ordered vegetarian pumpkin risotto which was actually inedible. Thankfully I had ordered some chips too so even though they were pretty average at least they were edible. The others had chicken parmas which they said were average. Also had coffees (flat whites and soy lattes) which were average too. In fact just come here to see a band! So the band area itself is standing room only and we were packed in like sardines, so if you can cope with that great, if not then definitely don't visit the Corner Hotel. But regardless of venue it's always good to support live music venues particularly those that feature Australian artists. So do yourself a favour, as Molly says (note statue of him) and go at least once.

Great venue for some live music. A great rooftop bar too for drinks afterwards. Staff were very friendly and fast at getting orders out. Would highly recommend a weekend night out here

Always a good vibe at the corner hotel. We ordered the burrata, wings and fries. The burrata was really good and the wings were super moreish and tasty. Can easily spend hours sipping on wine, munching on food and enjoying the sunshine on the rooftop courtyard.

Returned after 4 years, probably for yet another great gig. Great place, great vibe. The security could be a bit better with the crowd. Long story short, I was in line for hours for the gig, went in, and ran to the toilet and back to the main gig room, and the security denied access and asked to stand back of the line, which was bit too much knowing that I was there the whole time.

Great venue, plenty of room, yet intimate with the stage presence. Love that it has an old-school feel about it in both front bar and band room. The sound was good, but don't stand too close to the front side of the stage if you want real clarity, too close to speakers. Mind the pillars too. Obstructs your view, so be mindful of finding your place in a packed gig. Drinks are high priced, so make sure you fill your pockets if you intend to eat and drink your way through the night, or just don't look at your bank statement the next day.

Don’t bother making a booking and confirming multiple times, they will just deny you at the door because they can. Booked months in advance for my birthday, spoke to multiple people on the phone, even took my cake in earlier in the day. At no point did anyone mention that they don’t accept people playing Pub Golf. I understand you can deny whoever you want but maybe add that disclaimer to your website or mention it over the phone?!? Nearly ruined my birthday, luckily the Richmond Club Hotel across the street made room for us last minute. They were more than happy to take us.

It was a long wait after many lockdowns and cancelled shows That we waited patiently for this Extraordinary guitarist by the name of Daniel Champagne and his support act Flynn Gurry Two amazing young men doing what they love They are both superstars in their own rights Wow you really have to see them to really understand what l am saying Remember their names And when you get the chance to see them Don't Hesitate You will never regret it for a minute

Great venue, even has zero alcohol beer for drivers now. Sound was great, service and food were excellent. Well ventilated for covid, lovely helpful staff.

A very accessoble place for gigs! I visited for Groove Tunes in my mobility scooter. There's a wheelchair accessible entrance around the corner. An accessible bar was also next to the bar. An elevator goes to the rooftop (which is GREAT! So many Melbourne venues, especially rooftop venues, are stairs for ableds, only!) Screens next to the stage showed lyric vids and an auslan interpreter was there for the gig. There is also a lift for disabled artists to safely access the stage. Unsure if all Corner gigs will be as accessible but there will still be an accessible enterance, elevator, lift to the stage, and the staff were SO friendly and helpful to my needs. Highly reccommend.

Great pub. I have gone to the Corner Hotel on about 20 occasions for a mix of company and personal events and it has always been a consistently great experience. They often have live music tend to have some reasonably good artists. The food is a tad pricy but of a good quality. Great place for a Friday pub lunch.

What a great place. Went for the Angels concert it was electric. Security was fantastic but not in your face they made you feel safe. The original Angels guitarist was superb as where the rest of the band blew the roof off absolutely outstanding performance.

We ate lunch here on Saturday afternoon and it was great. The staff were really friendly and the food was delicious. I had the Pan Fried Chicken, which was amazing, and possibly the best dish on the menu. Great atmosphere on the rooftop on a warm afternoon/evening. 👌

This place always has a vibe. Upstairs renovations have come a long way and it’s a great place to listen to some music but also have a chat without it being too loud. Downstairs can get quiet pretty early, but the drink choices are great and the gigs here are always so intimate and really hit the spot.

Staff were friendly and atmosphere was nice. Lovely up on the rooftop. The margaritas were delicious but I didn’t enjoy the wines as much. A few more upscale options of whites would have secured a 5 star review!

Delicious cocktails and enjoyable snack of pakora (although the sauce could be a bit stronger in flavour) ! Atmosphere was also nice although the lighting was a tad bright on the table and we saw a mouse several times and the women’s bathroom smelled of wet paint. However overall, there was great cocktail selection even if they took 15min to arrive☺️ I would come back

Wow talk about a venue. Went there recently for a gig, very spacious, good atmosphere, drinks are decent prices. Surprisingly clean for a older Bar. Can't wait to go back.

An institution, as far as Melbourne's live music scene goes. I've been to so many good gigs here in the last 20 years & it never disappoints. Sound quality is always good & bar service speedy.

Great atmosphere and food! Staff were very friendly and attentive. Quick to get served which always helps. Special thanks to Ejaz for accommodating us. Recommend the steak!! Will be sure to come back next time I am in Melbourne.

Renovated roof top offers comfortable dining. Menu is kinda limited but chef cared about dietary requirements and checked and offered options. Cocktails took a while to come out but beer was cold and quick. Good for dinner and gigs!

Went here for lunch before attending a basketball game at John Cain Arena. Ordering of food and alcoholic drinks was done via QR code at your table. As we had our grandson with us hubby had to go to the bar to get soft drinks. Our meals came out very quickly. Our fish was fresh and the batter was light and crispy, there were 2 good sized pieces with chips and slaw. The serving size was perfect. Grandson said that the fish was nice and the chips were excellent

If you've been to the Corner, it's still the great venue it's always been. If you haven't, get ready for an authentic live music experience, disco ball and ugly carpet and all😃

An institution! Band rooms playing music, trivia nights, pool tables and generally great music. Helpful staff. I know I should venture here more often. Very close to the MCG and other great sorting previous of Richmond, They also have great food and great specials on certain days. Few different ambiences to suit your style too

Great food at a very reasonable price! Extremely good understanding of Coeliac, with seperate fryers. We walked in on weeknight before heading to a concert and was an easy walk. Great service, will definitely be back!!

Stopped here for dinner before a concert on a Sunday evening. The rooftop area was lively and full of people. Food service took about 45mins due to how busy it was, we were warned about the wait time before ordering. The steak with chips and salad was good.

Chicken parmigiana ok but not anywhere near as good as others in area. It’s a great pub but because of the people you bring. It’s draw card is its location. Nothing bad but nothing wowing.

One of the finest live music bars in Melbourne. Nothing fancy, not big, but a great stage and sound experience and super convenient

saw marianas trench here for the second time. rly lovely staff, always friendly, doing their best to accommodate and moderate the crowds. after the guitar picks had been thrown into the crowd, the staff helped pick up the ones that fell into the barrier, and gave them to fans :) also concert barstaff deserve a pay rise

We had such a great experience at the Corner Hotel in Alex. I am not really a big reviewer but felt that its the least I could do based on our experience. Chris the assistant manager was about as nice and helpful as anyone could be. He helped us with anything we wanted from the moment we got there until the moment we left. Checking in, at the bar, at dinner and then he helped us with finding out more about the art on the walls. Thanks Chris, you are a great manager. I hope they know how lucky they are to have you! Form Matt & Jo from Room 6 or table 2 :o)

I feel absolutely compelled to write and say just how fantastic our Corner Hotel experience was last night. Some friends and I attended a concert and needed wheelchair access- the manager Soss(?) helped us with parking, entry, ticketing, introduced us to the bouncers and showed us the best place to watch the show and repeatedly checked in on us just to make sure all was ok. We have never had service and care from a venue like this, ever… in fact, it’s usually pretty appalling for accessible access/seating. Your website alone is so detailed it helped with any pre-show anxiety and you more than proved there was nothing to worry about. I could not fault The Corner and I can’t wait to go back. We also had dinner in the front bar which was delicious and service was great there too. Thank you so much for ensuring a hassle free and thoroughly enjoyable night from woah to go. It’s much appreciated. -Sally
