Excellent! it was only the soft opening, but what a super friendly team, and what a great place to stay! I have a dog, so it’s tough to find accommodation, but the staff could not have been more friendly. There are rooms available with and without private bathrooms, but if I’m upfront, I preferred the communal bathrooms, they are way bigger and have better showers, and there are plenty of them, so you don’t have to wait. They have a cinema room with bean bags and an excellent communal kitchen and library. But the coolest of all is the basement bar and pool room! This is definitely a place for the younger adventurous traveller looking to meet new friends along the way or anyone that has a dog and does not want to deal with the bullsh&t regular hotels put you through.

Warning: We saw a woman getting harassed by one of the guys at the desk. We felt really uncomfortable and left the next day, So it’s probably not suitable for women travelling alone. It’s also a real party place, so really noisy which is good if it’s your scene but definitely not ours.

One of my favourite places in Melbourne. You will always meet new wonderful people, especially at the underground Bar! Marco and his team are doing a fantastic service. With their positive energy and beautifully delicious cocktails I want to invite everyone who is looking for unique places. Every weekend they host a live DJ set, so fun!

Had a great time at the Selina, facilities were clean and well looked after and all stuff were absolutely lovely. Regular events made it easy to socialise and they were all very well ran. One of the staff members especially, Luke, went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a great time at the events and was entertained and involved :) would definitely recommend

Selina Hostel in Melbourne exceeded all expectations and provided an exceptional experience. The hostel offers clean, comfortable, and well-designed rooms. The staff at Selina Hostel goes above and beyond to ensure guests have an enjoyable stay. From the receptionists to the cleaning staff, everyone is friendly, professional, and helpful. A special shout out to Jeff, From the moment I arrived, Jeff’s warm and friendly demeanour made me feel right at home. He answered all my ridiculous questions with a smile. You can tell he really wants you to have a great experience in Melbourne! Also, the convenient location of the hostel allows for easy access to Melbourne's top attractions and the vibrant city life. Selina is a must stay if you’re visiting Melbourne! You won’t be disappointed!

Came in Melbourne for working holiday visa and i was staying in Selina Central for a long period. Honestly, I really liked my stay there. Whether it is the welcome at the reception, the staff always smiling and ready to help you whatever the request. The collective kitchen is great there are all the utensils that you need to cook. Having stayed a good period I can confirm that this place is exceptional, great. The location is perfect, really safe and the atmosphere is cool. The shared room, bathroom, kitchen are every day cleaned. I recommend Thanks to all the Selina Central Melbourne staffs ;)

When I stayed at Selina I was greeted by friendly staff right away. The rooms and general areas were tidy and always kept on top off. The range of activities were fantastic and it was a good variety. Sometimes social drinking and meeting people, to relaxing cinema nights. The manager Jeff was helpful with letting us know what sights we should go see. He was also hilarious and quirky, would honestly come back and stay just to see him again! 10/10 would recommend to stay here if you’re visiting Melbourne. Bella & Corey

Always amongst the top of my list of stays whenever in the CBD. Always so clean and always something to do (or not if you want to relax) . The manager Jeff is extremely welcoming and made my recent visit an absolute breeze! Also for added bonus there’s a record store downstairs if you’re ever in the mood to for some crate digging! Highly recommend!

Gotta share my thoughts on the Selina experience, mate – it was an absolute cracker! The atmosphere had these top-notch, inclusive, and homey vibes that made it feel like one big family. And let me tell you about Marti, an absolute legend of a staff member who took our trip to a whole new level. She had this uncanny way of making us feel right at home, going the extra mile to make sure we were well taken care of. The attention and care she put into her work were out of this world, mate. I can't thank Selina and especially Marti enough for making our time there an absolute ripper. Can't wait to swing by again real soon and soak up that amazing family atmosphere once more.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Selina in Melbourne. We booked a private room and could not have been more pleased with our accommodation. The privates are about as close as you can get to feeling like you're staying in a hotel, while at the hostel price point. The staff were all so welcome - especially the manager, Jeff, and long-time employee Gabriella. The rest of the staff were welcoming and accommodating, and the amenities were excellent. Not to mention fun trivia and game nights with a welcome drink on the house. It is also located within the free train zone for easy transportation-- well connected to the rest of the city. We will definitely be recommending the Selina in Melbourne and will stay here any chance we are back in the city. This has been one of our favorite hostel stays, and we have stayed in many internationally. Always impressed with the quality of Selina hostels! Thanks to all that made our trip so lovely in Melbourne! :)

One of the best places I've stayed in a long time. Clean and welcoming atmosphere at a very reasonable price. The manager Jeff was a joy to meet and extremely helpful with sorting out excursions and recommendations for where to go. Definitely will go back.

I spent about four nights here, and it was a great experience. The reception staff was friendly and helpful, the bed and bathroom were clean, and the dorm's trash was cleared regularly. I really liked the room's interior design, which showed they care about guest comfort. Surprisingly, city center train noise didn't bother me, except for my dorm-mate's snoring lol. Overall, highly recommended, and I'll likely choose this place again when I'm back in Melbourne. Keep up the good work!

One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at. All the people that are working there are super friendly and it’s easy to meet people. After a day of working it’s the perfect place to come to rest. You have the cinema room where you can chill and the living room & kitchen that are really nice! The kitchen is quite big and you actually want to cook in it, instead of eating out. Which saves you quite a bit of money! The dorm rooms are super nice and the beds comfy! You even get two pillows! And the beds have a curtain which is such an upgrade compared to other hostels

The best hostel I’ve stayed in. Comfy beds, friends staff and very polite guests. Location is great but the events and social scene at Selina is what makes it so good. Luke was especially excellent, hosting some great socials which got everyone mixing.

Just spent one night at Selina and it was so great! The hostel is very modern and has everything for a good stay! The staff is sweet and helpful and they propose a lot of activities like yoga, music events, etc! People seemed nice and respectful and the sharing areas were clean! We really appreciate the night and the free welcome drink though!

I had a great time staying at Selina! They offer bunk beds with curtains for added privacy and charging ports compatible with various countries. Additionally, they have a public kitchen and a cinema/yoga room available for guests to use, making the stay convenient and enjoyable in the city area. One of the standout features of Selina is the daily activities and events they organize for hostel guests, which are optional but provide fantastic opportunities to meet new people from around the world. They host various activities such as movie nights, dinners, and city explorations. Luke, one of the event organizers, deserves special mention for his exceptional ability to make everyone feel comfortable and create a fun atmosphere during these sessions. He was approachable and truly added to the experience. In summary, I wholeheartedly recommend Selina to anyone visiting Melbourne and looking for a hostel that not only offers a comfortable stay but also the chance to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.

A phenomenal atmosphere in the bar downstairs, great service, great music, and a great time. A nice ambient temperature, bring your people for a wiggle if your feeling frisky. Wonderful bartenders, good looking with good things to say. Check out the tiles behind the bar, if one fell of the wall I’d jump the bar to steal it. Very interesting art hanging on the walls, and some nice plant life also, Not sure if they are real plants, but that’s a good sign if you ever wanted one. Ran into Donnie Jepp which was a nice surprise. He bought me a few drinks and we played smooth jazz until the wee hours of the morning.

Great location in the CBD, clean rooms and bathrooms. Great events (including the hostel group chat and a bar downstairs) to meet people especially over the holidays. Shout out to Emily who was heaps of fun on reception - made the stay more memorable. Thanks to the team

Modern, well kept, and verbally a fun hostel that lets you relax or socialise. Genuinely very impressed by the place and the service. I would say that the rooms could do with some sort of air con or better cooling but verbally it was a great hostel. The team working there are also excellent and a really lovely and fun group.

We recently spent a night at Selina. The hostel is very beautiful and well placed, just in front of the Flinders. We booked a private room, it was surprisingly very calm because of the location! The staff was very friendly and helpful! They introduce us all the activities that they offer and gave us a free drink in their pub for our arrival! The sharing areas were clean and well equipped. I would recommend it for a nice stay in the cbd of Melbourne!

Was upgraded to the deluxe private room after having issues with changing my booking dates. Staff at Selina were very helpful and friendly. The room was huge and very comfortable (although two single beds put together rather than an actual double), with a tiny ensuite and shower that leaked through the door. Lights in the room were very dim and you could hear a lot of the noise from the street below. I don’t think the price is very good value when you can get a luxury hotel for pretty much the same price elsewhere in the city.

I had a really great stay at Selina in Melbourne, the rooms and facilities were really well done, clean and spacious. Really excellent staff, super friendly and helpful and always something fun going on. Shout out to Jeff who is really friendly and has a great sense of humour ;) overall I would highly recommend Selina in Melbourne!

I stayed at Selina for 9 days and got kicked out for breaking the rules, which is fair enough but I do think I should’ve got a warning first. To the hostel manager, Jeff. Please learn how to speak to your guests that PAY your bills with respect and dignity. Under no circumstances was I rude to you but you came at me with full force and was so rude. I wasn’t given a refund nor was I even given much time to process being evicted. The manager didn’t even allow me to speak and kept cutting me off. In the exact words of “call the police if you have an issue” — you exaggerated the entire situation. If you pulled me aside and told me you were kicking me out in a nice manner then I wouldn’t even be that bothered. It’s the disrespect, bluntness and zero mercy for me. You handled this situation with no professionalism and your delivery/tone was uncalled for. I take full accountability for breaking the hostel rules, but being rude and not allowing me to speak isn’t the way to handle a situation under any circumstances. Not to mention there was another worker that was rude to me, and when I told the hostel manager he made excuses for their behaviour so I’m not even shocked that you are rude yourself. You’re unprofessional, rude and don’t treat people equally. Have the SAME energy you have for smokers, for people have that sex in dorms, toilets and common rooms is all I’m saying. It happens very often. There are many guests that do this and it happens DAILY which I’m sure you know about and they are still guests but apparently smoking pot outside of a window in a private room is where you draw the line. Ridiculous.

Thank you Emily for taking care of me so so well, thank you! When I arrived she corrected my wrong booking from the previous night to the correct night that I had a stay for the night. The other staff is also really kind. And so the guests are. The dorms and bathrooms are nice and clean. The bathrooms are relatively new and got renovated a couple of years ago. The kitchen is well equipped and the living room is comfortable to spend some time in. The Hostel itself is right across the iconic Flinders Street Station and can't be better positioned for exploring the city. I definitely can recommend this Hostel and I'll come back when I'm in the city next time 😊👌🏼

I stayed at the Selina for a week and really enjoyed an incredible experience. The staff were so attentive. In particular, I loved all the evening activities proposed by Luke, who is super dynamic and so much fun to be with.

Maddy at the front desk was the absolute best! She made checking-in incredibly easy and smooth. I felt very welcomed right off the bat. Plus, when I lost my room key she was very helpful and resolved the situation immediately for me. I highly recommend Selina. Thanks Maddy!

One of the best places I’ve ever stayed in. The interiors are so beautiful, the kitchen and common areas are so relaxing and full of plants and the staff are the best (so friendly and welcoming)! I would 100%% recommend this place, plus it’s in such a good location across from flinders street station and near tram lines. Beautiful lane way with cafes next to the hotel for that Sunday morning coffee.

My boyfriend and I stayed for one night as we just wanted a night out. This place was amazing and I found it to be such a nice vibe! We would highly recommend to others who just want to get away for a bit. It was very close to lots of restaurants and only a 2 minute walk to flinders street station and lots of trams. Wished we had stayed more nights after finding out about the movie cinema room that is free available for people to use and also their “hidden bar” that’s down stairs was the perfect space to relax! We had a small issue with our room, but we told reception and with no hassle at all they offered us a refund which we are thankful for. Either way, we highly recommend this place to anyone and staff are so friendly

Booked a standard room for a quick business trip due to it’s central location. It was a comfortable stay, slept well in the comfy bed, clean and it also had a desk in the room. The hotel has a super cool underground bar and record shop, definitely a great place to meet new people! The team was helpful and they definitely know some good food/coffee tips around the area.

Very clean, nice beds and plenty of space for luggage. The bar downstairs is nice as well. The bartender Andrea is the best and he makes a mean whiskey sour!

i have made such good memories in the weeks i’ve spent at selina. working full time and also wanting to travel and meet people - it strikes the perfect balance. it’s always clean, the rooms give you enough privacy and its a good social atmosphere without being too noisy while i’m working in the day. have made some wonderful friends here and the bar is chill and so convenient. michaella makes the best drinks and benni slays the coffee in the morning. i will leave melbourne missing this place for sure <3

I’m from Queensland and quite a big drinker so finding HOWM listening lounge, hands down the best bar in Melbourne, that’s not just a hostel, you will find a warm mood and comforting atmosphere with lounges and jazz on vinyl records with clear and crisp music you couldn’t find anywhere else. If you get bored play some pool, but I assure you you won’t with the amazing vibes and amazing people you find your home away from home.

Had a great experience at Selina. The staff were very welcoming from the receptionist, the coffee baristas, bartenders, cleaning staff, and manager. Thank you for the stay!

Good location near Flinders station. The check in process were all good and the room and facilities were good and clean. The drawback is that the room is facing Flinders st and it can be quite noisy at night. For those looking at somewhere quiet maybe can avoid this place but seems like more people were enjoying the activities offered which was not I was looking for. But it was quite worth the price.

I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels and this is definitely one of the nicest ones I’ve been to. The rooms were clean and spacious, the kitchen and common areas were great, they had several activities throughout the week, and even offered me a free welcome drink from the bar. The bar is great and has a happy hour everyday from 7-8pm with live music on the weekend. Special shout-out to Marco the bartender, he was very friendly and offered great service!

Thanks to the entire Selina team, especially Miguel, with good service, always ready to answer my questions at all times and was effective in scheduling the change of sheets on my bed when I extended my stay. The place is very clean, comfortable, respectful, with harmony, nice plants and large windows in the dining room. The bar is very pleasant, relaxed and cool, thank you Vicky for the breakfast every day 🤗

My partner had a job interview in the city, so we stayed with Selina. This is what we found: - The team was positive, helpful & aided us in every way they could. - They stored our bags/highly valued items SAFELY before & after check out. So we could move around the city. - The room was clean & neat. - The Bed was VERY comfortable with decent pillows. - The bathroom/toilet was clean and very easy to manage. - Utilised space to be able to hang clothes etc also. - Communal spaces were AMAZING! Comfortable & causal also. - The location is perfect, right near trams & great food spots. I cannot fault a single thing about this spot, I recommend it highly to all ages.
