Just visited the ACMI theatre whilst on a year 12 exam revision lecture, I made the poor mistake of purchasing an (overpriced) toasted sandwich, I was only given a 10 minute break to eat my food for the entirety of the day. After trying to renter the theatre I was told no hot food was allowed so I started to eat my toastie outside, the usher(a lady with very short red hair) stood watching me the entire time, feeling under pressure I decided to only eat half and save the rest for later. The lady then rudely told me I wasn’t able to do that and told me to throw it in the bin, disappointed in my waste of sandwich I threw it out and proceeded to go back to the theatre when I was stoped by the most unnecessary comment “I didn’t tell you to buy food” followed by “you can stop giving me attitude” I was disappointed yes but never showed her attitude, I had no problem with this lady up until this point. I replied “I’m not giving you attitude” and in response she mockingly laughed at me, I then tried to explain how I was upset that our class didn’t get time to eat and she interrupted me with a very loud, rude “Excuse me!” Being quite upset and shocked at this experience I sat down and she proceeded to glare at me from afar. I will not be coming back here ever again and this lady needs a stern talking to on how to treat customers especially when they may be inconvenienced, she was highly unprofessional and straight up rude.

Excellent facilities in the heart of Melbourne. Parking was cheap and the food & bar choices aplenty.

Stadium type seating makes it easy to get a good view of the screen.

ACMI stages many great movies covering a wide programme for a broad audience. Many are eclectic films well worth exploring, all delivered in state of the art cinemas. Just saw 'Living' starring the talented Bill Nighy, a re-telling of Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece. (Also screening) A poignantly moving performance 👏

We came here to watch episode 1 prequel to Game of Thrones, House of The Dragon. Quite a big cinema with lots of seats, good sound system and big screen. It's definitely a good cinema to watch movies.

We always see such meaningful movies at the matinees for seniors. Perfect location in the heart of the city, a short hop over Swanston Street from Flinders Street Station to Gederation Square.
