Love it. Nice museum. I would recommend booking a staff guide if you want to visit. There are interesting items and history of Khmer currency throughout history. Not to mention there is a nice cafe you can enjoy after the tour.

Highly recommend this modern museum. Very informative, interesting and attractive museum ever. The ticket costs only 4000R for locals and for student will get more discount. I think you should at least visit there once. I spent around 1hour & half there without audio guide but I think you should experience with the audio. One more thing, I saw the sign NO PHOTO but many people especially local take photos there without any warning from staffs. So what is the point of NO PHOTO sign in there. After a tour around museum, you can also enjoy the coffee there. It's best atmosphere especially during raining or evening time.

The museum that has 12 sections of monetary history in Cambodia ranging from 1st C.E. to the modern day. This museum is modern and well equipped. Beautifully designed and friendly staffs. There are a tone of things that I have learnt from this museum. My overall experience: I'll visit here again.

Very interesting museum about the evolution of the money in the Khmer empires and republic, it place the focus on the Anglor period that live for centuries without money, then the french period that introduce the banking system, the american pseudo-colonisation and the current republic after the military dictature. This museum is a must in Phnom Penh

One of the best museum I ever been to. Entrance fee $1 for Cambodians and $5 for foreigners. Good to know all the currencies through out the years and you can make your our currency at the end of your trip. There a fun game quiz too.

Quite expensive but well worth it. It is difficult to look at all exhibits in one day, perhaps the ticket could allow returns.

This is definitely a must see if you are a history nerd. The bank is loaded with information and mostly presented in a very easy to follow way, there are instances where the order got a tad confusing. But overall, it wasn’t too bad. We spent around 2-3 hours here because it had so much information and it was honestly pretty interesting as well. A great way to learn about the history of Cambodia in general, not just about their currency. At the end, it also teaches about economics in general. A fantastic place for Junior high and high schoolers to check out. Pricing was decent, $5 USD per person. The audio guide is completely unnecessary, unless you’re a very slow reader or an auditory learner.

A modern style Cambodia Economic-history museum. As one huge empire in the past, you can find more than just Khmer history but also the economic-relationship with other renowned country. One fine place to relax and learn at the same time.

I was hoping to see more of the cultural history of Cambodia but I failed to read the reviews - this is for monetary history. This is a modern, well illustrated museum but the subject is monetary economics (eg money), so the topic is a little dry and boring. But the designers of the museum deserve great respect for their exhibits. 20000 (5$) for foreigners. 4000 (1$) for Cambodians.

If you are Khmer or anyone who wants to explore Cambodia's past, present, and future, this is a must-visit place. After a long day of walking around, it is a great place to sit, relax, or read. I vividly remember the tranquility and peace I felt there. The staff are very helpful and informative, so if you have any questions, be sure to ask them. I think the new exhibition is starting soon, and I can't wait to see it!

A Must visit once in a lifetime museum in cambodia, especially Cambodian, this museum owns very splendid interior design for showcase cambodia currency and cambodia's economic history for different centuries. Go there to lost place where give you knowledge and calm soul.✨ Actually, when I went there I only can take photos at the outside of museum since inside we don't allow to capture anything.❌ Just go there to see the whole things.

It’s a very detailed experience of how money evolved from the ancient Funan period till the present. A fascinating experience that gives a better understanding of the reality of Cambodia. Needs a whole day to see it . The coffee shop outside is also a must.

One could spend hours here as it is a treasure trove of economic history, both Cambodian and how it fits into the development of monetary systems around the world. What I find most impressive are the finds of Greek and Roman coins in Cambodia. Just absolutely wonderful work by the museum staff putting this information together. One suggestion would be to number the exhibits so that they can be read in chronological order.

Very new good quality museum based in a city with a dearth of museums full stop. Costs 5 USD to enter and there is enough information and videos to sink a battleship in English and Khmer. Not sure if the audio guide helps, which I missed. Has strong ac but no photos inside building. Expect to easily spend over an hour here but if history and money is not your thing then you might find this place boring

A good place to bear in mind if you want to make plans for the weekend. The ticket costs 1$ per person (locals), and you can get discounts if you show them your student card. It costs about 5$ for foreigners — might be more or less, I’m not sure. We get to learn about Khmer history, currencies, and especially economy through many different displays of texts and infographics. At the end of the exhibition, you get to play some games such as identifying fake and real banknotes, and taking quizzes about what we’ve learnt so far. There’s also a fun photo booth where you can customize your banknotes, take a picture of yourself, and have it sent to your email. I was disappointed that we weren’t allowed to take photos, but it was a great chance to fully indulge oneself into the art. The photos attached are taken in another temporary exhibition, which you can visit for free after the main tour and freely take pictures. It’s held until April 2023. Experiences may vary based on your preferences, but in my case, it was definitely worth the time!

Come here if you have free time. The ticket is 8usd / person. It will take about 1.5-2 hours to finish reading. The problem we faced the whole trip to Cambodia is they refused to accept 100usd note if it’s folded / got marks etc. And although this is money museum, we faced the same problem here.

A great place to learn about the root of cause of the rise up and down of Khmer Empire. The museum is organized from the 1st century to modern day Cambodia economic and monetary system. One of the fascinating economic country in Southeast Asia region.

This place was a real surprise, it has to be up there with one of the best curated and informative museums I've been to anywhere on the planet. I presents the history of currency on Cambodia and the region right up to present day. I was there just over 2 hours and it was not long enough, those interested could easily spend 4 hours here. A great way to spend an afternoon out of the heat. I'll be back.

The exhibition tells the story of cambodia amazingly well with the help of the history of money. Very well designed and curated excellently with a print-your-own-money machine in the end. You can spend a good 1-1.5 hrs here.

The museum is new and modern. It could be more interactive than what it is now. Too much overwhelming texts on the walls. Looks great but the information could be delivered in a better way.

I know it sounds so boring but the reviews were so good I had to give it a go! I'm glad I did. Extremely well curated museum. I'm now convinced that currency is an incredible lens to learn about Cambodia's history. It comprised political, religious, social history and displayed information in many ways which made it digestable. There is almost too much information to take in at once - it would be good if your ticket was valid for 2 days. Well worth $5usd, I spent over 2 hours here and even skipped some stuff towards the end because I couldn't digest anymore information.

Really nice architecture and museographical display, however, the captions are very heavily laden with ideological inclination towards neoliberalism, and I think it underplayed the practicality of barter system and the colonial violence on local economic systems.

  • 5/5 Steven S. 10 months ago on Google
Beautiful museum, well layed out. The early history of Angkor and it's barter system were fascinating. The coins on display were remarkable, especially since one of them is the only in existence! The interactive portions of the museum were fun and interesting. At the end, the modern finance portion was a little pedantic but overall a great insight into money and economics in Cambodia for the last 1500 years!

Highly recommended. Through the currency, you learn so much about the country’s history (recent histories and histories from long ago) and culture with well curated videos and artefacts that explain in both English and Khmer. Do make a stop before/after Choeung Ek and/or Temples at Angkor Wat. Ties EVERYTHING together. (Also, air conditioned, so a good break from the midday heat) You can’t take photos inside, but trust me it’s a huge space.

Hands down the best presentation of the history of Cambodia. From the Oc Eo / o'keo period and Ankgor Borei treasures to today. A must for tourists and locals alike. Dual language Khmer and English exhibit and audio tour. Will be back.

Really great way to spend an hour or two (depending on how much you read and study each exhibit). It was a well curated museum that followed the history of the use of currency in Cambodia and that impact on trade development, stability, and modern day economic growth. Admittedly, I'm an economics nerd, but I would still suggest this museum as a well done look at history through a different lens. I really enjoyed it! It was well worth admissions and the 2.5 hours I spent there. They had lots of signage and videos, so if you read English or Khmer you probably don't need the audio guide (the guide was $3 extra). There are some activities and interactive parts in the last room that are a fun recap of what you just saw. It would be great for families with high school aged kids, but young children might not really get anything out of it. The cost was $5 and there's a place to lock up your day-pack sized belongings while you go through the museum. Also, it is air-conditioned, so you can visit any time. Perfect for an afternoon when you don't want to be out in the heat.

Locate in Phnom Penh and such as a nice place to learn about cambodia currency since 7 AD to present day. Open from 9:00am - 5:00 pm.

  • 5/5 Ben H. 11 months ago on Google
Absolutely outstanding museum! Not sure what others are talking about when they say "only coins to see". If you can read English or Khmer then this museum is a great place to learn about Cambodia's history. The way the museum tells the history of Cambodia through the medium of finance and currency is very interesting and captivating. Highly highly recommend that you spend a couple of hours here to learn about events that have & are shaping Cambodia and it's economy. Great air-conditioning throughout so it's also the perfect place to escape the heat of the day.

It is a must visit museum in Phnom Penh. The museum is the combination of Khmer architecture and modern architecture. The scenery of the museum is quite amazing, which shows about the revolution of money throughout the period since the ancient time up until today. The museum also provide knowledge related to economy in Cambodia throughout the period of time too. You can also watch a slide show showing about history of Cambodia. It is quite an amazing to put on your bucket list. Okay
