We are locals to the area and pop in regularly. We love the venue but it’s just such a shame that the waitress has been so consistently rude towards us, a complete lack of people skills when we asked her a question. Very unprofessional manners and wouldn’t recommend for a stress free evening. We’ve been returning, hoping that it’s one offs but it’s really not been the case :(

Definitely the best Sunday roast lunch my wife and I both had so far in London. For starters we ordered the steak tartare, very tasty and loved the warm crusty bread on the side. Main was the lamb shoulder for two - falling apart lamb served with a beautifully cooked potatoes, vegetables and the all important Yorkshire pudding. And to end the wonderful meal with a classic sticky toffee pudding. A stunning lunch.

We were directed upstairs to a restaurant. Unfortunately this was another disappointing experience. Two young people serving the entire floor, unsupervised and poorly trained. Waited at least 20 min for drinks, even after they were sitting on the counter they couldn’t bring them over, my husband tried to help them out but was told he was not allowed. Then we were charged for a drink that we didn’t order. Food was equally disappointing- overcooked tasteless beets salad and lukewarm chicken pie. Dessert was inedible and we had to return it. Not a relaxing easy going evening we were hoping for. Hopefully something will change for the better. But would not hold my breath.

One of the best Sunday roast in London. Incredible tender and juicy beef. The leek gratin is powerful and mouthful and the carrot with onions just something special. The Yorkshire pudding is gigantic, crispy and with the perfect flavour. You can taste the egg and the milk of the dough all together. The potatoes have a very thick layer of toasted starch that achieves a crisp outside and a tender core. The inside feels like potato butter. The gravy is tick but gentle to the mouth, very nutty and sweet like if they have put porcini or some toasted mushrooms. Finally portion is huge and filling. Don't know how this place is not in the top London sunday roast guides. Anyway guys, just look at the pictures.

A calm , easy , inviting Sunday roast offering at the favourite pub in Maida Vale. The food is always solid and the service efficient. The new upstairs dining room is tastefully done .

The wait staff was rude and wouldn't even serve us water - everything was self-service. Yet they charged 12.5% service tax added to the bill we paid at the bar for food / drinks / water we ordered at the bar and brought to our table at the back on a tray on my own. This pub will need to up the game to merit 13% service charge and they will also make more money if they go and get drinks order from people in the middle of their meals. We cut short our time there but if someone came around to check on drinks etc we would have stayed longer and spent more

Atmosphere/interior/bar all excellent. The food menu is creative and changes often which I like but the dishes aren't always executed well. Both the beef Sunday roast and the pork belly I've had over the last few months have been either undercooked or bland and lacking character. Only giving a 3/5 because it's an expensive pub that really can do much better.

Nice little pub with lots of potential but find food and drinks quite overpriced. Ordered 2 pints of moretti and 2 bags of crisps which came up to 17£, the burger costs 16£. Overall, I would say the service isn't bad but it doesn't match the prices charged.

A Great Traditional Public House. Long may it remain open. I knew this Pub quite some years ago. It has not changed that much over The Years. There is a great outside space out the back when The Weather is good. The Staff were very friendly.

Went here for post dinner drinks, and say in the rear garden. Lovely spot, but they had to close the garden at 2200 hrs and then moved us inside where it was cramped. And the kitchen extractor fan in the basement caused the whole pub floor to vibrate, was a bit bizarre.

Great pub. Lovely decor. Very good food. Don't try to do too much. Good drinks. Wine list better than you'd expect. Service a bit slow maybe but fine - they have a lot of covers. Their steak night and Sunday roasts are great.

Good service. Good food. Menu changes so always something new to try but remains reliably satisfying. Great wine list. Take your glasses though, low level mood lighting and very small print on the menu can lead to culinary surprises! Oh.. and if it says fully booked on the website. Email for a table. The website doesn't work.

We had our wedding reception in the Hero of Maida in October and I cannot express how amazing all the staff were. We had the perfect day, everything went seamlessly. The food was fantastic, the staff were so kind and helpful and the pub was just beautiful. Our guests loved it. Thank you for making our day so special :)

Highly recommended! We had our corporate Christmas party in one of their private rooms and it was excellent! Thank you for making our dinner so special. Huge thank you to Donald, Sophie and Andy for looking after us and for the exceptional customer service. We are definitely celebrating our next event at The Hero of Maida!

Amazing local pub with great Sunday roast! All options are amazing and have a fair price. Service was a bit slow when ordering drinks/beer but didn't interfere much the experience.

We went there for a Sunday roast as our usual place was fully booked on Mother’s Day and are now regular guests. The pub has been recently refurbished and is quite nicely redone, the food is good and portions are quite generous, the meat roast is not with roast beef but they put two pieces of steak (hence why I tend to go with 1/2 a chicken) and the staff is nice.

Beautiful pub with great service. We came for a Sunday roast. The food was good quality with massive portions. The Lamb was particularly good out of what I tasted. Nice beer selection on tap too.
