Really great family day out! We had a handling experience as a birthday gift for my son and it was just perfect. The rangers are really knowledgeable and friendly - John who ran our tour was excellent. They care about the animals deeply and look after them so well. We'd definitely do it again.

Really lovely animal rescue centre. The staff are very friendly and polite. The animals are beautiful and a real variety. The location is very small, so take your time, the prices are fair and would recommend.

Me and my partner wanted to do something, came across this little hidden gem around the corner from us - got to hold so many animals, unfortunately we didn't get around to holding the tarantulas! All the staff knew the ins and outs of the different animals, learnt a lot about them, really good experience and recommend to anyone! There were geckos, bearded dragons, parrots, snakes & many more!

So good! This place is way smaller than I'd anticipated but don't let that deter you. Every member of staff I encountered was so passionate and knowledgeable and it was obvious that they thrive on sharing this passion with visitors. The animals were amazing, over 380 in there with 70 odd species or something like that. They've made the most of the space they have and it's been done really well. My 4 year old loved it. It took us 90 min each way to travel there and we were only inside for 45 min but it was definitely worth it. We took advantage of a term time deal too where the 2 of us went in for just Β£10. Highlight of the visit was a parrot saying hello to us!

My partner and I had a great time viewing the vast array of animals. I'm an animal lover so I was in my element. Those previously commenting on the entry price being expensive, understand it costs a HUGE amount of money to keep a place like this running, I've had some experience with this due to owning just a couple of reptiles. If you love animals and you want to support a business that cares about the animals they keep, I recommend a visit to Get to know Animals LTD.

Superb place and definitely recommend visiting it with your children. Animal experiences are worth it as they will be allowed to feed and interact with them. Our 5 year old had a wonderful time seeing and petting some of the animals there. It might get quite crowded at different times and animal experiences might take a while before someone will be able to assist, but all in all , we had an amazing time there.

Excellent day out with my 2 year old toddler who loved the petting experience. The venue itself is small but has plenty of animals. The opportunities to pet the animals is unique, and kids will love it. Shout out to our pet-handling assistant who was super-helpful and accomodating. A real credit to the venue. Overall, we loved our time here and will definately be back and would happily recommend others.

A small but interesting zoo. Most animals are rescues. Good for an hour's visit. One of the staff (AJ I think) was very helpful and spent lots of time explaining facts about the animals. My one quibble is that the woman on reception was reluctant to give us a free carer entry for my disabled mother despite clearly saying on their website that this was available on production of a blue badge. I guess that this is because this venue is quite newly opened but they really should understand their own entry prices.

Good place for animal and reptile lovers, entry fees is bit expensive and need pay on top for animal experience. Man who handled python for us was bit rude and not friendly. Parking is available on site for free.

Very nice place, lovely animals, harry the rabbit was nice, I loved the snakes. The hairless rat (VERY CLEAN NOT LIKE A RAT YOU FIND IN YOUR GARDEN) was nice and tried to climb on my sholder. The tortoise was nice and let me touch its shell.

Lovely place to visit and not so crowded when we visited on Sunday. We went there and saw Santa and the experience was lovely. Price wise its ok, not too expensive and for the animal experiences is definitely worthwhile. The Monkey one seems a bit expensive, however I am not sure what you get in that experience as it's about Β£75.00 at the time of writing. Staff was very friendly and assisted us with everything we wanted. Overall a great experience with my 5 year old, i definitely recommend visiting.

Absolutely love this place and brilliant staff, they are so informative and knowledgeable and spend time talking to you about each animal. I found out that most of these animals are rescues so not only have they been given a wonderful home they now are teaching young people in the process. You wouldn't get any other experience like this for such a good price in and around London we can't wait to go back and maybe even hire out the party room.

It's a bit pricey considering how small it is and that you also need to pay for interacting with the animals, but overall, a nice play and the little one loved petting the animals.

A bit rough around the edges, but that defiantly added to the charm. Clearly a passion project with great intentions. We met goose the skunk today, a great experience, he gave the best snuggles. Rob the handler was great, showed a real care and affection to all the animals.

Amazing little local zoo. We attended a party here and the kids loved it. The staff were friendly and full of info about the animals. It's not just a zoo but also they take on rescue animals when possible. Yes it is small but for little kids this place is full of wonderful animals. Yes the parking on site is small but there are options if you ask staff. All animals seemed to be very healthy when we visited so clearly GTKA are doing a wonder job at giving them health and new life.

This is effectively a shop, I would estimate 6m wide and about 20m deep with everything from rabbits and guinea pigs to parrots, lizards snakes and tarantulas. My 6 year old daughter loved it and held lots of creatures. Not worth Β£50 for the two of us for an hour though. Although it may be so expensive due to only allowing one family in for the hour. Maybe that will change with Covid restrictions lifting and they can allow more people in at a time.

I decided to come here for my birthday treat after driving past a few weeks ago and was not disappointed. There are a vast array of animals here to look at and as it was my birthday and I am animal crazy we paid for the whole family to do all of the handling experiences. Ashley helped us with our sessions and was so helpful and patient. Also she was extremely knowledgeable answering all of our questions about everything from diet to habitats and behaviours. We will definitely be back as the snakes were poorly so we couldnt hold them and so we will just have have to come back (like I need an excuse. LOL) Thankyou for an awesome time on what was a very busy bank holiday weekend

Great experience for children and adults. I was impressed as to how much care has been put into the location and how well the animals are looked after. I was also pleased to see how they helped our grandson, who is autistic, to interact with a lizard. Wonderful!

Brilliant interactive experience, thankyou. Visited today with our 3 and 6 year old children and friends. What an environment to teach them about nature and animals. For the price, nowhere would you get to handle and learn about such an array of animals with patient and knowledgeable staff. Exceeded our expectations massively and we will definitely be back again. We are lucky to have it in the area.

The management need to get to know their customers too... We dropped in on a rainy, windy day. We shouldn't have bothered. Family ticket is Β£20 to see a small range of animals in small space. None of the cages are labelled. To handle the animals costs an additional Β£5 for a guinea pig and Β£8 for a snake - PER CHILD. 30 mins later we left. This is an extortionate amount of money for very little return. Instead you could go to Lee valley farm for the same money for a much, much better experience and enough to do to stay for the whole day. Avoid this place if you don't want to feel ripped off.

Time went so fast since we were all having a good time. Perfect for families. Enjoyed petting most of the animals. Definitely will visit again.

Donna and Kerri were fantastic. They put themselves out to enable a private party for my dad's 90th birthday and coped with my dad's Alzheimer's and my son's autism with compassion and patience. They are clearly dedicated to the animals and ensuring everyone has a wonderful time, which we all did. Well worth the money and would definitely recommend to everyone. keep up the great work ladies!

Today I visited with my daughter, son and her friends. We all had such a lovely time seeing all the animals. We decided to also meet some of the animals and that was absolutely amazing! Megan was so attentive and helpful when showing the animals to the kids. Megan also told us some information about each animal we handled. We will definitely be back again! Also just wanted to say what amazing work all the staff done today as it was super busy. Thank you again for such a lovely day

An absolutely wonderful animal experience with amazing staff, clearly very knowledgable in their fields and wanting to share that knowledge with others. They are all very friendly and understanding, particularly good with customers whom have phobias and want to overcome them via the experience. The animals are all clearly very well looked after and are very happy in their new homes. Truly a treasure with a pleasant and peaceful village nearby. If you are interested in getting to know animals of all varieties a bit better you can really do yourself a favour and visit!

It's a good place to visit. Visitors are able to pet any of the animals on display, most of which are exotic animals. for Β£25 per head (regardless of age) per hour it's a very costly experience to have. For less than that you can visit a zoo for whole day (granted you can't pet most of the animals). Β£15 per adult would have been a more appropriate price. Space is quiet tight. There's no need to have a pig there as one can easily find pigs on many of the petting farms all across the country. They claim to say that there can be up to 15 visitors in one time slot. No way! I would say max of 6 (we were 7 & we found it to be a squeeze). Having said that, I was told that they are moving to a bigger premises in few months. So, lets hope that they utilize space better. Most disappointingly, some of the animals like toads, chameleons, frogs, snails tarantulas & all insects were missing as the kids & adults were so looking forward to seeing those.

  • 3/5 Laura P. 11 months ago on Google
Nice place but very little, glad we went after school when it was cheaper. Its probably more aimed at having the handling of the creatures, than a look around. As that only took us half hour to look around.

Had a great time here, all the staff are friendly, approachable, know their stuff and were great with my 5yo, happily answering all questions. They have a wide variety of animals and a wide variety of packages if you want to handle any animals, with a good range of prices for the handling packages, so you don't have to spend a fortune to have the experience. The animals all look very well-looked-after and it's clear that the staff love what they do. My 5yo says it was absolutely amazing.

Just come back from a fun filled afternoon getting to know animals, the children had such a fantastic experience with a few different experiences. Megan was really good and really patient. Lovely place to visit! I went with my 6 month old. We both really enjoyed seeing the range of animals. Lovely little petting zoo. With the emphasis on little. At times a little cramped even when there were only a few families visiting it can feel a little clostraphobic. The range of animals is great though and they have really maximised the use of space. Staff are lovely and you can tell they have a passion for the job. Small kids will love the fact you can handle pretty much all the animals. Price is reasonable imo. Given that you can't spend too much time there.

We had a great time at GTKA yesterday! It was pouring with rain and we didn’t know where to go. We stumbled across a hidden gem! My 2 year old niece was amazed by all of the animals and loved stroking Ron the rabbit and seeing ducks and jellyfish. The adults in our group loved it too. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. We immediately recommended it to some friends.

Amazing staff! I came very late because of my baby but they understood and allowed me to still enjoy an hour experience. And of course amazing animals! Most of them are friendly. For those of you who are worried, they will never give you an animal they think might hurt you, and they will always keep you safe. I think the best part was seeing a range of animals causally walk about. That was awesome! 100% will go again!

Fantastic little shop for the little ones to "get to know animals". Took my 3 year old here for an hour session, where the staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. My daughter was allowed to handle a hamster, gecko, snake, chicken, tarantula and petted a lizard, pig and skunk. Great little place, little one will love it if they like animals.

  • 1/5 Ummi H. 1 year ago on Google
I have had the most dreadful experience getting there today. I tried ringing and ringing....someone said I'm at the right location....someone will ring me.....a ranger will fetch me. I waited for over half and hour and then me and my daughter went to eat and then came back and tried again nothing! I kept ringing again nd someone will be in touch. I have never felt out of place and had very little help from GTK animals. I came out all this way from from Whitechapel. I suffer from numerous health issues and I made the effort because it was my daughter's birthday. It has really affected me and and I just feel numb and disassociated and in pain from travelling there. I just want my money back I paid for 2 VIP tickets. If anyone had disabilities do not bother going there!

Great place to go! Myself and my sister in law went with our 2 boys (both under 2) and they LOVED it! So many different animals to see. The owner is very kind, he spoke to us about the animals and even got a few out for us! We went on a Wednesday afternoon and pretty much had the place to ourselves which was nice. Defiantly a great experience for the boys! We will be going back for sure! They are all rescued animals. You can tell are very well looked after and loved by all staff. I wouldn’t think you need to pre-book on a week day during term time so if you happen to pass by it’s worth popping in. Worth the money!
