First class Autumn tasting menu. Excellent service and country house ambience. Bright modern restaurant contrasts well with the traditional areas.

Went for Saturday lunch and was well worth it. Fantastic peaceful setting and made to feel so welcome. As it was our anniversary they went the extra mile and threw in complementary dessert wine. All vegetables grown on site and you can taste the difference. Highly recommend and amazing dining room setting.

The most amazing food. Great service. Lovely idyllic venue. Relax in the garden and enjoy a cocktail or two, and then have first class meal. Rooms are ok- but not great. Will certainly return!

We had the pleasure of visiting this stunning venue set in beautiful gardens within a Manor House, thanks to the thoughtful gift from our children and their partners. Due to my husband's illness, we had to wait for this special occasion, but it was well worth it. The experience was nothing short of exceptional. The food served at this venue was not just delicious; it was truly exceptional. Every bite was a culinary delight, and we savoured every moment of the meal. What truly made our visit memorable, though, was the staff. They were not only friendly but incredibly obliging as well. They went out of their way to ensure that our needs were met and that we felt welcomed and comfortable throughout our time there. This gift was a true blessing during a challenging period, and it turned out to be a stay filled with beauty, great food, and the warmth of the staff. We're immensely grateful to our children and their partners for this unforgettable experience at such a remarkable venue.

Had a lovely meal in the restaurant which was a special treat for my wife's 60th birthday. The modernisation of the restaurant extension has been done very tastefully and there is a vast improvement with the garden from our last visit many years ago. The service and staff were exceptional which made the evening event even more enjoyable. Many thanks to all.

We go to Gravetye 3 or 4 times a year if we can and have been going for many many years over the tenures of several owners. It's always a complete joy, and the current owner has done a fabulous job of getting the right people in, both inside and out. Tom Coward, the Head Gardener (ex. Dixter) has a vision and a long term plan that make continual visits over an extended period a joy - every time we visit we are surprised by the continual changes - we learn so much and the garden staff are super helpful and willing to discuss what they're up to and why. The amazing oval massive kitchen garden that supplies the hotel is a source of wonderment and not to be missed. A visual and culinary feast. We've never stayed there as we live reasonably close, but have eaten in both the old and new dining rooms many times. The new dining room sits harmoniously between the wings of the manor and although a very modern glass and steel construction, the inclusion of a fabulous antique (and uneven) parquet floor (ex. some french chateau) softens the feel and acoustics, making the room almost intimate. The floor to ceiling windows bring you right into the garden, even in the foulest of weather - it's a triumph of design. Then there's the food. Apart from the presentation, which is exquisite, the flavours and textures always bring a broad grin, however grumpy I am! This is absolutely first rate British cuisine; the kitchen under Head Chef George Blogg is to be commended, as are the garden staff producing the freshest of produce. I occasionally try to photograph the plates, but invariably find I've forgotten that rather crass move and have just launched in! Must also mention the front of house staff. Perfectly presented and mannered, they know exactly the boundary between staff and guest and make you feel completely comfortable and relaxed - there is nothing "stuffy" or obsequious about Gravetye - everything is pitched just spot on and nothing is too much trouble. We were there today for a birthday treat, but will be back again soon for a post-family-wedding get-together. Cannot recommend too highly - just an excellent few hours, whatever the weather.

Gravetye Manor is an oasis of calm gracious civility in a desert of an unsure world. Exquisite dining, attentive but discreet service, courtesy, eye contact, genuine smiles, unobtrusive interaction. We have visited many times for luncheon and supper and stayed in a beautiful room. Heavenly! Oh no, time to go! Do we have to leave our cozy chairs by the fire? Never mind, we’ll be back again. Thank you.

Took my father for lunch and he absolutely loved every minute from the amazingly patient staff to the equally wonderful food. The dining room is beautifully decorated and the garden is a delight and we will definitely be back.

The perfect venue for my daughter's wedding. Everything was wonderfully done with nothing too much trouble for the amazing team at Gravetye Manor, despite the storm of the decade arriving on her wedding day. A romantic setting, beautifully decorated with amazing food. Truly memorable in all aspects of her special day, thank you.

Our daughter took us here for Sunday lunch and it was amazing ! Bit out in the sticks but beautiful house and grounds. Food and service were superb . Service charge added to bill which I felt was unnecessary . I chose foods I hadn't tried before and I was delighted with my choices. Set lunch menu £60 pp plus drinks , coffee etc. Great for a special occasion but doesn't rock my boat for going there regularly. Having said that , give it a visit , you won't be disappointed. There is no disabled parking , you have to park in the carpark .

This is a beautiful hotel set in a stunning location a real hidden treasure. The crowning Jewel of which is the incredible restaurant run by head chef George Blogg and his Team, the food is simply stunning and incredible in both flavour and execution.

Went for dinner at Gravetye and had one of the best meals I have enjoyed. The food was exquisite, the service outstanding and the dining room and grounds, beautiful. Thoroughly worth coming here!

Our stay at Gravetye Manor was all too short, but splendid. Elegance, stylish, and beautiful is how I would characterize it. Not to be missed!

From arrival to departure one is made to feel welcomed. The location is rural and the grounds delightful (although, in winter, I always consider the English countryside dure and bleak in the dull light and damp!) The new (2019) dining room is one of the nicest and integrates the modern with the old with a success that is rare in modern architecture. Also, take time to admire the wall paneling in the restaurant. My lunch was sublime (the dessert menu is especially innovative). The building dates from 1598 and there is only so much that can be done to ease access but parking and washroom facilities were good if one has some mobility (e.g., can walk with the assistance of a stick). If in doubt, call the Manor and ask - the staff really are immensely helpful.

Visited for a private event in April - the service was truly excellent and the food was amazing. The primary selling point is the setting though, make sure to take a walk around the gardens which are lovely. If not driving, you can get the train to Haywards Heath and get a taxi.

We had lunch here today to celebrate my husband's BIG birthday. The 4 course lunch was excellent as was the service. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The ambience was very relaxed and not at all stuffy. We would highly recommend this restaurant and we shall definitely be back.

Visited for 'seasonal' lunch. It wasn't the most relaxed experience tbh. Staff are convivial but somewhat lacking in humour. Food wise, this is a top tier place and was perhaps lost on us - with extremely sparse courses served rapidly (to the point that one was thrown on the floor). This is Fat Duck aficionado territory - so if enjoy emulsions, foams and quinelles etc...The gardens are beautiful, so make time to wander around. Front desk lady and door man were charming!

We had lunch there on 4.4.23.The surroundings are sumptuous but it is so stuffy I felt ill stifled at the end and was glad to walk in the beautiful gardens. The staff all have their own job,so obvious when my husband asked a waiter to remove a plate he seemed perplexed and had to ask a colleague to oblige. The FOOD is good, small portions. The canapés were served with no plates, although the carrot cylinder(very watery)collapsed when picked up!What to do?The coffee(Americano)was dreadful, brown dishwater and £16 for 2!Also you can have a special coffee for £16 each.,lucky guests. The bill was over £185,hardly worth it methinks .Some of the staff seem to have very pretentious attitude, they're waiting staff for God#s sake.Iam a retired deputy head with lots of qualifications,my husband has 14 letters after his name-we would never behave in such a pretentious manner The

Gravetye is a completely exquisite place to stay. The house and gardens are exceptionally lovely and an early morning walk was just lovely (we didn't even have good weather). Staff are friendly and courteous. Four in-house florists work there, and the internal flowers, largely taken from the garden, were beautiful. Very envious of their skill. Restaurant is very very good. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful beautiful gardens and food. Whimsical and almost dream like. Staff are very welcoming and lovely. However having them stand outside can be a little intimidating (especially when arriving without reservation and your fate lies in their hands before even entering the building). Highly recommend booking in advance around May time when everything is coming into bloom.

We’ve dined here twice and both times it has been exceptional. All courses use seasonal ingredients and are imaginative, beautifully-cooked and well-presented. The bread and butter ‘course’ is memorable (ok, we returned for the butter!), amuse bouches and pre-desserts are tiny plates of perfection but the stand out for me was the dessert, both times - a raspberry soufflé I’ve been dreaming about since my first visit two years ago, simple and straightforward, with almond ice cream and raspberry coulis ceremonially dunked in the middle by the attentive staff. One of those dishes that makes you smile for days after. I’m not usually a dessert person but I’d go back and skip the other courses (ok, except the bread) just for that.

My husband and I had lunch there today and whilst the food was delicious the portion size of my husbands vegetarian main course was seriously small. Being a fussy vegetarian he asked if he could have the mushroom risotto advertised as an intermediate course as his main. Although they kindly obliged we didn't feel the quantity had been increased to reflect this. Having spent almost £300 including drinks you don't expect to leave feeling hungry. On the plus side the staff were amazing from the moment we arrived to leaving the service was exceptional.

Foodie heaven. Sommelier recommended an excellent wine to go with a stunning meal. Exemplary service. For me it would have to be for a special occasion and it certainly was.

This was a surprise birthday treat for me! The whole experience was delightful. From the warm greeting upon arrival to the lovely gardens which we walked in prior to lunch and enjoyed a glass of champagne in. The menu, food, drinks and service were excellent. Couldn't fault a thing ...which is unusual these days.

Absolutely faultless location, food and service. We had lunch to celebrate our wedding, and loved the place from the moment we arrived. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We enjoyed lovely cocktails in the garden before heading into the pretty dining room. Our food was superlative – seasonal, fresh, interesting and phenomenally tasty (my soufflé dessert was my standout dish). We had a lovely wander around the grounds to aid digestion – a trip to the kitchen garden should be mandatory, to see the amazing produce they’re using – coffee and petit fours in the garden was the perfect end to a lovely day. Would visit again in a heartbeat.

We went for a celebration dinner - the service is so engaging and the food was genuinely sublime. If you have time to walk round the gardens too, then you will be rewarded with a lovely complete experience.

Gravetye Manor is the most gloriously tranquil spot, with beautiful gardens and a wonderful house set with in them. My wife and I had lunch at the restaurant with our daughter. The food was sublime, the service excellent and the stroll around the gardens afterwards a perfect end to our visit. Something to be experienced and savoured!

Absolutely stunning. As a Landscaper and someone with a keen interest in Horticulture I was so impressed with the gardens and general offering at Gravetye. An Authentic, beautifully presented environment with food to match. 1st class on all levels.

Sunday 31st July 2022 We have always loved and enjoyed Gravetye Manor over the last few years however Sunday was a major disappointment. The meal which usually superb was really not up to standard . the Beef for lunch was a cheap cut of meat and very chewy. One in the party had the chicken dish , he had one of the tiniest pieces of chicken I have seen. The roast potato’s were cold , hard and dry and tasted as if they had been cooked the day before. One of the party had fish again he was still Hungary as the plate was so small. When ordering one of the party wasn’t sure if she wanted dessert was told order now or you can’t have one. The staff were not unpleasant but there was certainly a different atmosphere to the previous times we had gone and didn’t seem to be over bothered. We did mention at the time about the meat and potatoes and were told it’s the time of the year for poorer quality !! . The shame was that 2 of the party had never been to the restaurant and leafy saying they would not return . The price was extortionate considering the poor quality of the produce . I am really quite upset as up till now it has been one of my favourite places to visit . We had a table booked with another couple in a few weeks but will cancel as I’m sure the same is going to happen again as it’s a short space of time. It’s as if they are giving you poorer quality meals but at top end prices. What a shame

Excellent! Wonderful setting; dining room is a masterful transition from the grand period country house hotel which transports you into the heart of the garden in all its glory and colour. The cuisine is a perfect match, wonderfully presented and deliciously prepared with a wine list to match. Attentive and efficient service. A very enjoyable experience.
