I never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before. My husband and I were so struck by the beauty of this place and the owners as well. They were extremely accommodating to us, along with the beauty of the home, the history and the surroundings. The whole experience was beautiful. I cannot say enough positive words to express our gratitude towards the owners and how welcoming they were. A wonderful experience that was very much appreciated. As quickly as opportunity presents itself, we will be back! Thank you so much. The Mitch's

Each time my husband and I stay at Alpenhof Bed & Breakfast in Media, Pa. we find it just as special as the last time! The ambiance is simply delightful as we drive up to the driveway. When we see the foliage adorning the grounds with beautiful flowers from all over the world we always know our stay is going to be delightful and we're always greeted by Lola and Thumper the family dogs. We chose the Grand Master Suite which is nice because there's no steps, just walk right in from the parking lot. Very accommodating and very clean . In fact, in the shower area there's plants gowning! During our stay we saw a hibiscus bloom! The breakfast is delicious with a variety of dishes to choose from every morning. What brings us back year after year is Roland and Anh, they are simply delightful owners with stories of years past, and they are kind and accommodating to our needs. And, the guests who come to stay, are unique and interesting as well as we all sit at the table and have breakfast together. Quite wonderful! Can't wait for our next stay....

My wife and I stayed here for a couple nights. The location is peaceful and the lodgings themselves are warm and inviting. The only negative is that our visit was so short! Roland and Anh are amazing hosts and people. If we ever find ourselves revisiting the area, this is the first place we’d look to stay again.

We had a delightful stay at the Alpenhof Bed and Breakfast. Roland was a terrific host and gave us and others the information we needed to get around Philly. The breakfasts were wonderful and a great way to start the day. Roland and Anh were friendly and the common areas were very comfortable. We felt very welcome. Thank you for a great stay Roland.

I can't even describe this place. I've never stayed at a B&B with this kind of fairytale charm, gracious service. The hosts are truly authentic, both in sharing this unique space, and enriching conversation. Not to mention a delicious breakfast! I think of the place as a kind of production which invites you in to participate. If I had an art to contribute I would, for the place is essentially a gallery. Rooms were well accounted for, and beds were comfortable. We had great weather and I slept with the windows open. The road can be a little busy during the day, but it's the price of being this close in to Philadelphia, and completely worth it for us. I know the hosts work hard to create this space for people, but it seems they've perfected it!

One of the best bed and breakfasts I have ever stayed in. I went with my husband and two other couples, 6 of us in total. Everything was above and beyond wonderful. The decor was moody and eclectic and thought provoking. This place has gorgeous tall ceilings, natural light, a fire place in the beautifully decked out living room, so much art, so many plants. Three adorable dogs!!! Breakfast was delicious and I'm pretty sure the plates and drinks are homemade? Every detail was so carefully thought out. The place was incredibly clean and the hosts were kind and gracious. They were happy to give us a history lesson on the home and answer our many questions. Super close to tons of great restaurants. We can't wait to come back when the weather gets warmer!

This past weekend was the fourth time that my wife and I have stayed at Alpenhof. I can’t possibly say enough great things about it, or about the wonderful atmosphere and service that Roland and Anh provide. The home itself is just amazing, warm, charming, with interesting things to see no matter which room of the home you’re in. The location, just twenty minutes from the airport, and bordering a State Park, is conveniently located, yet quiet and restful. And the breakfast? I can’t even describe how delicious they are. To use a much overused word, Alpenhof is simply an awesome place to stay. If you lodge there once, believe me, you’ll definitely want to go back again and again.

What a wonderfully, unique place to stay. The decor and building are truly different than any other bed and breakfast we have ever stayed. Almost like a modern day castle, or Lords home with tapestries on the wall and unique artwork. The rooms are interestingly configured so that each one has an en-suite bathroom. Careful remodeling went into that decision. The garden is beautiful and be enjoyed during a short walk to the pool. Breakfast was enjoyable around a large table with a menu so guests can select what that want for the day. Most definitely would return for another stay. The hostess showed us around the whole house before taking us to our room which was lovely. She told us when we could arrive down for breakfast and then took us to our room. They worked hard to make us feel at home and welcome.

One cannot ask for a better B&B stay on any dimension than the Alpenhof. From the incredible historic and eclectic decor of this converted historical stone barn, to Roland's hospitality, to the incredible breakfasts, this B&B sits in the midst of everything the Brandywine Valley and southeast Pennsylvania has to offer. You'll sleep well knowing that everything you need is anticipated, and the extraordinary service will make you feel right at home.

Roland and Ahn are the most fantastic hosts ever! Their B&B is unique and amazing, the location is beautiful (make sure to visit Ridley Creek State Park), the breakfasts were delicious and they are gracious and helpful. This will be my go-to place to stay on future visits.

My partner and I stayed at Alpenhof BnB for a wedding at Tyler Arboretum, and we absolutely loved our stay. The location is perfect and close to a lot of great food (which our host helped recommend). The house is gorgeous, with incredible art, comfortable rooms, and plenty of amenities. Breakfast was 5 star and it was lovely getting to know the other guests at the table. I feel like we might be back to Media, PA just so we can stay here again!! Thanks so much Roland and Anh!

We stayed here over a weekend, and it was a beautiful sanctuary. The gardens are simply awesome, and the rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. We enjoyed a dip in the pool, surrounded by beautiful flowers and plenty of loungers and umbrellas. The breakfasts were first-rate and made to order, and coffee was delicious and plentiful. A great B and B, don't miss it!

We had a lovely time staying here while visiting Philadelphia. The food was delicious, the setting was a cozy and fun environment, and our host was very friendly. Everything during our stay was in good order and quite tasteful. Definitely just the bed-and-breakfast place we imagined staying at. We would gladly come here again for a get-a-way!

This B&B was AMAZING. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed staying here and the service Roland and Anh provided. They were welcoming, the house and our room was cozy, it was a quiet property but with plenty to do/eat nearby, and there was even a pool out back (plus 3 cute dogs!). The breakfast was delicious and we just really enjoyed our stay here. We highly recommend this to other couples or families as we will definitely return!

We absolutely loved our stay at Alpenhof B&B. Innkeepers Roland and Anh were so warm and welcoming, as are the three pups that live on the property. Great location, just off of 476, in gorgeous Media, PA. The drive up to the property is really lovely, especially in the Fall. Plenty of parking on premises, and our room was the perfect size. We stayed in 'Monica's Room' which has one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on! Both the room and adjoining private bath were very clean and cozy. The house has the most spectacular and eclectic collection of art and 'stuff' that I've ever seen at a B&B, but overall has everything you would need for a cozy and relaxing B&B stay. We didn't get to explore the grounds much since it was a bit of a rainy weekend, but I look forward to staying there again next time we're in town.

My now husband & I stayed here for a long weekend when we were in the area for a graduation party and couldn't be happier with our experience. The owners were very understanding when our arrival time was unexpectedly delayed due to traffic, and were exceptionally friendly & personable throughout our stay. The accommodations were clean & comfortable, and the entire atmosphere was unique and beautiful. We absolutely recommend & would love to come back should we ever be in the area again!

Greeted by wonderful gardens! Owners Roland and Anh are experienced and relaxed hosts. Beautiful artwork and woodworking craft abound. We loved their dogs, who were friendly and not at all intrusive! Great swimming pool! Delicious breakfast menu! Highly recommended.

My stay was nice, except working in the hospitality business, I feel the urge to describe that the man who runs the bed and breakfast said something unbecoming and rude to my boyfriend. I think being in hospitality, situations can be handled with sensitivity and Ronald did not do that.

Incredible value, very welcoming, great breakfast. Room was very nice and clean, comfortable bed, bathroom newly remodeled. Common areas comfortable and inviting.

We stayed October 21-23. Very charming, clean and peaceful! Surprisingly convenient!! Our room was wonderful!! Breakfast was absolutely AMAZING!!! Best French Toast EVER!!! Beautifully renovated 19th century house, nice decor. It is a pleasure to deal with owner. You need to experience breakfast here to understand why so many reviews specifically mentioned it. Would definitely stay again if happen to be in the area.

Roland and Anh are so very welcoming! I could go on and on about the food and the rooms, the property and the best dogs ever!! But you should see it for yourself!! We met interesting people at breakfast and enjoyed the experience of family style seating. Highly recommend you stay at their charming Bed and Breakfast! See you soon!!

It’s rare to find a place that feels like home as soon as you step through the doors, but that’s how we felt as soon as we arrived at Alpenhof. Home, but unlike any home we’ve ever had! This gem is filled with charm and comfort and history, and has the most welcoming, talented, hosts. Anh and Roland are warm and attentive, and eager to share their story and the fascinating history of the inn. And the breakfasts, y’all! Fresh baked scones and pastries, bowls of fresh fruit, Belgian waffles with a pile of strawberries on top, fresh baked cinnamon swirl French toast, omelets and eggs to order, bacon sausage, coffee, juice EVERY MORNING! Hosts Anh and Roland were the best! Our immaculate room was a cozy, retreat at the end of the days spent hiking at Ridley Creek, exploring the nearby town of Media, and meandering through the lovingly tended gardens at Alpenhof. We are already planning our return to stay at this delightful inn. Thank you, Anh and Roland! Give Lola some ear rubs for us!

I visited with my hubby and my 2 yr old daughter , it was our first family vacay. We stayed in the grandmaster suite for about a week. The pictures don’t do it justice . Even more breathtaking in person . The food was delightful and so were the innkeepers . Would definitely stay again if visiting Philly . Was easy to get to all our Philly destinations within 40 minutes

Beautiful B&B with gracious hosts. Comfortable rooms, great value for the money, and a wonderful breakfast. Roland and his wife were very welcoming. They have rave reviews because they earn them.

We had our staff retreat here; what a wonderful place to do some thinking, problem solving and planning. Beautiful comfortable rooms and grounds for relaxing and the dining table turned into a very funtional conference table! Lots to do nearby for team building too.

What can I say? The alpenhof reflects it's owners, Roland and Ann: it is warm, cozy, welcoming and thoroughly original. The rooms are cozy but cleverly laid out and very comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful and the company and stories were even better. Roland grew up in the house and shared stories of his horticulturalist mother and concert pianist father. Plus, we accidentally booked one night too few. Roland did some kind of magic and managed to let us stay an extra night. He had every right to be crabby and unhelpful but he was the soul of kindness instead.

We really enjoyed our stay at Alpenhof. A quiet weekend away was just what the doctor ordered. It’s comfortable, beautifully decorated, in a beautiful area, and a quick drive to museums and shopping. They serve a delicious breakfast and it was really nice being waited on by Rowland and Anh. We would love to return for the Monet experience some time this summer if we can possibly get away.

Words cannot express how truly wonderful this bed and breakfast is! I needed a getaway for a couple days and this was the perfect spot. The owners are so kind and attentive (plus they have three adorable dogs), the decorations and setup of the place are immaculate, and the atmosphere is completely comfortable. It’s also the perfect place to devour a couple books. I have never felt so at home at a place that wasn’t home. I highly, highly recommend staying at the Alpenhof!

I love B &Bs - there's so much room for creativity and presentation of a place. Alpenhof is exactly that- a unique building, comfortable, welcoming, beautiful gardens and surroundings, good food, and interesting owners. I loved hearing the history of your place and wished I had more time to study it. Thank you for the early breakfasts to accomodate my school schedule. They were delicious (esp the pancakes!). I had never been to the Philly area before and was a bit apprehensive but my stay here made it worth it! Loved my time in Media. Want to come back with friends and family, stay at Alpenhof, and enjoy some time as a tourist! Yes, you guys are "doing something right!" Thank you so much.

We love Alpenhof! We’ve been guests for years, and never been disappointed. Roland and Ang are the penultimate hosts — we feel like family — and the inn is something to behold. Each unique room is comfortable, and the cozy dining and living room areas are full of interesting art from all over the world. Roland’s breakfasts are the BEST, and in spring and summer the gardens and pool are wonderful places to relax, unwind, and enjoy a panoply of flowers. We enjoy every season!
