MassFIT
is
far
and
away
the
greatest
gym
experience
in
Philadelphia.
If
you
are
at
all
serious
about
training,
MassFIT
should
be
your
mecca.
If
you
are
in
the
area
and
still
punishing
yourself
with
a
corporate
gym
experience
-
just
stop.
I
mean
unless
you
are
into
the
whole
masochism
thing.
I
joined
a
week
after
I
moved
in
down
the
street
about
2.5
years
ago,
and
it's
become
my
second
home.
It
remains
the
primary
reason
I
keep
re-signing
my
lease
and
living
in
the
neighborhood.
The
occasionally
smelly
horse
stall
mats
are
sacred
ground
to
me,
and
it's
evident
by
how
well
maintained
this
place
is
that
many
feel
the
same.
Running
an
independent
gym
is
hard
as
hell
and
the
only
way
it
works
is
through
the
absolute
blood
sweat
and
toil
that
Steve
(the
owner)
has
put
into
the
place
over
the
years.
MassFIT
is
absolutely
stocked
with
specialty
equipment
and
laid
out
for
very
efficient
training.
6
full
racks,
Alan
Thrall
inspired
DIY
deadlift
platforms,
and
a
full
500kg
set
of
Rogue
calibrated
kilo
plates
make
this
the
perfect
place
to
pursue
serious
powerlifting
numbers.
For
the
(noble)
hypertrophy
enthusiasts
you've
got
every
possible
type
of
specialty
bar,
cable
attachment,
dip
belt,
and
enough
mirrors
to
stare
at
when
curling
in
the
squat
rack.
For
the
Olympic
weightlifter
there
are
plenty
of
platforms,
pads,
and
bumper
plates
to
toss
around
and
make
everyone
around
you
reevaluate
their
life
choices.
I
wouldn’t
know
anything
about
it
because
I
have
never
done
dedicated
cardio
in
my
life
but
there
are
also
a
whole
bunch
of
what
I
think
are
called
“treadmills”?
Along
with
an
assault
bike,
rowers,
and
a
few
punching
bags
to
live
out
your
inner
Steven
Seagal
power
fantasies.
MassFIT
just
has
good
energy.
From
the
trainers
to
the
members
everyone
has
a
very
positive,
encouraging,
and
unpretentious
attitude.
I
personally
approach
the
gym
and
my
training
as
a
way
to
disassociate
from
the
world
and
focus
on
my
internal
war
against
the
iron.
That
said,
it's
always
nice
to
say
hi
to
all
the
people
who
I've
never
learned
their
names
but
see
more
regularly
than
all
my
friends
and
family.
My
favorite
is
when
Steve
(MassFIT
owner,
not
Seagal)
greets
you
with
a
friendly
"hey
how's
it
going"
and
I
respond
with
"you
too!"
and
then
I
cringe
endlessly
at
the
thought
of
that
encounter
every
night
for
a
week.
Anyway,
all
of
that
is
to
say
this
place
is
fantastic.
If
you
are
just
visiting,
skip
the
liberty
bell
and
get
a
MassFIT
day
pass.
If
you
live
in
the
area
and
have
any
serious
goals
related
to
fitness
and
self
improvement
-
this
is
the
place.
24/7
access
is
easy
and
accommodates
any
schedule.
It
definitely
gets
busy
at
peak
hours
but
for
the
most
part
outside
of
like
10am
and
6pm
midweek
you
are
never
waiting
for
equipment.
Training
is
a
life
long
pursuit
and
I
am
sure
I
will
one
day
move
away
but
while
I
have
been
here
in
the
city
this
gym
has
defined
my
life
and
I
will
be
forever
grateful
for
its
existence.
The
gym
itself
won't
build
your
physique
-
that’s
on
you
push
yourself
past
your
limits,
but
MassFIT
alleviates
all
the
friction
to
building
disciplined
healthy
habits
that
will
allow
you
to
give
your
best
effort,
unencumbered,
every
time
you
train.
Steve,
the
members,
and
trainers
all
make
MassFIT
a
near
perfect
establishment
and
I
can't
recommend
it
enough.
