Noticeable decrease in quality since new manager took over. Equipment is poorly maintained and does not get fixed quickly. Group classes take over several racks and members will be kicked off of them for classes, even if the racks are not the ones reserved for classes ahead of time. Several of the 45lb plates have spontaneously disappeared from the gym, and no new ones have been ordered despite membership prices continuing to rise. Some members are paying $130/month for equipment that can’t even be used because there aren’t enough plates. The previous manager, Andre, did an excellent job of maintaining this club, and could frequently be seen actually on the floor, whether he was working or doing his own workouts. Broken equipment was quickly noticed and fixed, and customer feedback was responded to quickly and effectively. Since the new manager took over, it can take weeks or months for equipment to be fixed. The vinyl back pads for a few of the bench presses have literally been unattached to the actual benches, allowing them to be completely removed and placed on the floor. Several members have complained about the lack of plates and no new ones have been ordered, despite members being told that new ones were ordered months ago. Of the plates that are available, many of them don’t even actually fit on some of the barbells. Life Time Lenexa has always been a luxury gym and used to be excellent, but I find myself paying more money for a worse experience and I can’t recommend it anymore. The front desk staff are excellent and the facilities are very pretty to look at, but you will have difficulty actually being able to use some of the equipment here.

I’ve been a member of this gym for quite some time and have always been impressed by the range of amenities to offer. From the sauna to the spacious pool, it’s truly been a one-stop fitness haven. However, it’s evident that the facility is showing its age. The wear and tear are becoming more apparent and it’s disappointing to see that instead of renovations or maintenance, the prices are steadily increasing. Furthermore, one of the major selling points for me was the 24/7 access. It’s been a considerable amount of time since the restricted hours were implemented and with no updates on when we can expect a return to the round-the-clock availability, it feels a bit unfair to continue paying more for less access. I hope the management takes this feedback to heart. It would be wonderful to see the facility get the updates it deserves and for the pricing and hours to reflect the value members are truly receiving

Pretty disappointed by their Coronavirus response. They don’t require their patrons to wear masks. Most people wipe equipment down but a lot of people still don’t. Half their staff take off their “required” masks and don’t wear them at all when they workout. Meanwhile Johnson County case are rising, the nation has hit its single highest daily case count and everyone at Lifetime pretends they’re immune. No thanks, I’ve canceled my membership already.

They would not let me enter without wearing a mask. So, I cancelled my membership. I'll spend my money on a gym that doesn't enforce the suppression of our liberties, thank you very much.

This place has gone downhill significantly, however the price ironically continues to rise. It costs $196.00 after taxes for 2 adults per month. All of the aging facilities included. The steam room has rust on the wall, the bathrooms smell of mildew, and the gym seems like it’s always under construction. The outdoor pool is dirty even though they’ve had plenty of time to clean it, considering it’s May 14th. There’s goose feces surrounding the pool which makes for a lovely aesthetic let me tell you. The best part is the email from the General Manager Kevin, that expresses all of the issues that the MEMBERS are causing. They blame it on staffing issues from the pandemic but maybe charging 200 dollars a month you might be able to pay a living wage to keep an employee or two.

Travis F is a fantastic trainer and I highly recommend him. BUT….. Everything else at Life Time I would advise you to go elsewhere. Joined because of the childcare and outdoor pool are for the kids. They don’t tell you until you pay them that you have to register your infant and only during specific time slots. Those time slots are usually fully booked and then they don’t even align with the 11am class time. So if I want to attend the 11am class, no child care for it. Indoor pool: even if your kid has a puddle jumper on, they make you stay within 5 feet of your kid at all times. What a joke. Outdoor pool: they don’t tell you there’s a height requirement for the outdoor slide. So we joined for it, and now find out our kids can’t even use it.

Shane is the best personal trainer I've ever worked with! He pinpoints your needs/weaknesses and truly customizes your regimen. His skills and expertise are top notch! The gym, however, is overpriced. They raised rates 2x in a year and charge extra for so many things: pickle ball, pilates, outdoor pool, child care, group classes, etc. They do have good equipment, but paid classes take up lots of it at key times during the day.

Overpriced and very pretentious. This "club" has tons of employees roaming around doing nothing. The family locker room always smells like urine, my guess is because there are showers and no toilets in most of the changing rooms. The locker room towels are several different shades of white, stained, and located on shelves that are unreachable for average height people. They have a cafe where they charge $10 for a small sized smoothie among other extremely overpriced items. The spa has plenty of employees but 0 customers most days because the price charged for each service is about 60% over market value for the area. The childcare area smells dirty and is very overloaded and understaffed when any classes are going on upstairs. The childcare hours are very sporadic and it is very hit or miss as to weather they will hold the children's activities they list on their app or decide to blow it off. The workout areas upstairs are full of "trainers" roaming around, not to help anyone, but to try to sell you their very expensive services. The equipment is nice, however you will have all eyes on you when you go to use it, as clusters of "trainers" like to stand at the desk and chat about the guests. The open equipment isn't always usable, because they hold paid classes in the middle of the workout areas and will tell you to move if you try to use any equipment in that area. The equipment seems to be clean, but you the guest are expected to clean each piece of equipment after use with their very generic, barely wet wipes located in dispensers, and strewn throughout the club. It is very difficult to get out of their "non contract" as other reviewers here have stated. Their "policies" change often and you may or may not get what you signed up for and are paying for. This location is about making money and a lot of it. You can expect to pay your monthly fees and plenty more for any other services they try to sell you. IOW it's an "exclusive club" where the customers are considered cash cows and nothing more. My opinion is to save yourself some money and a lot of headache and go down the street to the brand new new Lenexa Rec Center where the "amenities" are the same at a lower price with fewer exclusions.

Management is truly horrendous at this gym. I’ve had to literally beg Oscar and Andre to call me for the past 2 months and they can’t take 5 minutes to pick up the phone. Lifetime stole $588 from my bank account and refuse to assist in fixing the issue in addition to other absolutely inexcusable management practices all around. Would have never joined had I known how bad it was here.

staff are fricken friendly. entire place is clean. pool hot tub spa 100% legit. bathrooms are hecka clean. im only giving it 4 stars because it should be open to at least midnight or 1am. it use to be 24 hrs. now its closed for 5-7 hrs. but prices went up. so less service & a rise in costs. that doesnt seem right & certainly not in favor of longtime clients.

Clean club with a great selection of equipment. The morning hours (5am to 7am) during the week are definitely busy, but not overly crowded. I enjoyed working out here on my visit to KC - nice people and a good vibe. Everything was clean and in good working order.

I should have listened to the reviews when I originally first saw them. They are greedy when it comes to trying to take your money. I cancelled my membership cause I couldn't make it in anymore. I don't have a car to get to the gym cause my car died and they still didn't care and decided to charge me for an additional 30 days. I can't even make it to the gym cause I don't have a car to get there. The gym is nice to use but, they care more about your money than you and whatever situation you may be going through. I also received a phone call for weeks when I first signed up about a personal trainer. It cost close to 200 dollars or more and I kept telling them I couldn't afford it. Then, April the manager had an attitude cause I first came in to freeze my account then cancelled. These people really don't give a **** about you.

Good luck trying to cancel your membership. First they'll tell you that you have to show up in person to cancel - won't cancel your membership over the phone or via internet. THEN you "have to give 30 days notice", but for the calendar month. SO - if you try to cancel today, like I did on February 1, you still pay for the month of February AND the month of March - because 30 day notice means it would arrive March 3, so you have to pay for the rest of that month too. HA! This is the WRONG way to generate revenue Lifetime - pretty embarrassing that you force your staff to refuse to cancel when people want to. So weak. Awesome club, but CANNOT do business with someone who basically steals money once they've got you locked in. Trash organization.

don't throw your money Away ,the front desk has a lot of time on Theyre hands along with Theyre snobby attitude, although this gym has great equipment 75% of the staff at this gym is vile and unprofessionall. group exercises take over the gym to where you can barely get yourself around to get a workout in, you have to strategically time getting on a piece of equipment and don't dare go against the grain and try to better the gym and talk to management because this gym will rather argue with you and then turn what you say around on you than provide good customer service . AISO! make sure you get yourself a good pair of headphones because at times the group exercises blare the music without any mind to the members.I can see why reviews continue to plummet

I use to love lifetime but the quality has gone down so much but they have increased dues. The only good thing about gym is the front staff their super friendly. But majority of the gym space is taken by classes you have to pay for the cardio section machine got pushed into a smaller section where the lighting is so dim and dull they should be able to afford good lighting with increased dues at the least. The cardio section is so depressing and crammed all the spacious cardio area is reserved for group x classes which are paid. The gym membership has clearly increased but the space has decreased. I really miss how spaced the machines use to be and so many machines are even broken now. Not a very luxury gym anymore plus decreased hours basketball court is even taken by pickelball that you have to pay for

Bring back the leg lift core thing with the half medicine ball and the 2 grip things for your arms to rest on while you lift your legs off the ground. that used to be next to the stair masters and the water fountain. There was no need to get rid of that, and now my abs suck. Bring it back or else

I've been a member since this location opened, and I've been pretty happy for the most part. They've improved in recent years on their upkeep and maintenance and seem to be working hard to keep the aesthetics current/fresh. I'm not a fan of all the group activities taking up a 1/4th of the weight area, but it fits a certain niche'. The staff in this location is pretty awesome, very friendly, and welcoming. My only real issue is more with Lifetime's pricing. I'd prefer an option to pay for only what I use (weight room only) that would lower my price, and I'd like to see more locations to bolster membership reciprocity in other cities. I travel, and there just aren't enough locations nationally to consider a premium membership. A friendly suggestion would be to get some more advanced equipment in the fixed machines. To compare, I did a job in Florida and got a two-month membership at Crunch Fitness and absolutely loved the equipment. Compared to the tired old stuff Lifetime uses, Crunch's equipment was revolutionary. Let's get innovative and differentiate yourselves from the competition.

I won't ever be going back to any LifeTime Fitness. Not cause I don't mind blowing $200 a month, but their customer service style is a polite we don't care about you attitude. See for yourself, " Greetings Kronah - Thank you for reaching out and providing your feedback. As stated in the general terms agreement it is a 30-day notice for any changes such as cancellation, on-hold, or downgrades. Our membership here at Life Time is not based on usage. If you have any further comments or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to us. In health, "

Good gym, plenty of equipment, great indoor/outdoor pool, new b-ball court, plenty of lockers, towel service. Friendly staff/trainers, and good day care. Only complaint is the “lifetime cafe” has good food, little pricey, but odds are you’ll be completely forgotten about by their incompetent staff. Go to this gym for everything BUT the cafe!

Love the whole experience. Great staff, clean locker room, the whole array of workout equipment for whatever kind of excersise you're into. The childcare staff are dependable and great with kids. The only improvement I'd recommend is that the child care hours were extended an extra hour, because it's tough to get everything done during a week day by 7pm. I'm still going with five stars though because I fear violent retaliation if I don't. The pool is awesome too!

Nice gym with a lot of amenities but imo it's too expensive- same rate even if you don't use the classes and child care. Rock climbing area is hardly ever open. They took the nice Woodway treadmills and moved them to the private group fitness area (that you have to pay extra for) and left only 6 of them in the general cardio area. Womens lockers don't have keypads so women have to carry around a key while swimming/working out.

Warm Indoor pool has toilet paper and used bandages floating under water. Water is salty. So dirty. NOW two months LATER.. the pools and bathrooms keep dirty, towels smell dirty, used tampons in the family showers, trash cans outdoors are closed. The water slide outside is never on. Wear goggles 🥽 and see under the pool. I wonder... Is it so hard to keep the pool clean? I can only wish the service and the neat gym I signed up for years ago was still the same.

Very nice gym. Great staff. I was the guest of a good friend and loved it. It is very clean and didn't have that gym smell some places do. I tried the two lap pools, hot tubs, sauna, elliptical and treadmill. The changing areas and showers were supposedly being remodeled but I could not see any sign of construction as they were in perfect order.

Just moved back to KC and the gym is just as I remembered it 8+ years ago. Chill, never crowded, has what I need, hardly have to wait for equipment in the late evening hours and everyone is friendly. One of the many gyms I can attend under my Gympass app for less than $60/month, so can’t complain.

I miss the old setup way more. It was way more efficient than a qtr of the gym floor going to wierd cardio equipment, and some jungle gym. I miss the cable cross in the corner by the mirrors, and the machines where they used to be and the wide open space by the windows to stretch and do focused workouts. Feels really clustered now.. definitely needs changed in my opinion

Gale heads the Pilates program at Lifetime. I really hope she gets the recognition she deserves there, because Lifetime is really lucky to have her talent. She is world class. I bumped into her off chance and showed interest in the program, she swapped info with me and got me in to show me the ropes and boy did she. I've seen her at the gym for years and never knew what she did exactly behind the scenes...a hidden little gem. She was always on the go busy when I would see her about but somehow can make it feel like time stops just for you in the moment and in the session you share with her even though you know she has someone straight after you. This is because she truly cares about you and your individualized experience and goal. Let's face it she could do her craft with a blind fold because she is that good but sometimes when someone is that good they also over time loose passion and this she has not my friend. She loves what she does, she believes in it(and I learned she should,) and she just cares. Gales potential is unlimited and could easily own and run her own studio on her own. She knows all about anatomy and I feel as though I've almost got a medical overview of myself at the same time. Anyway if anyone at Lifetime reads this please be sure to let her know!

If you can afford a membership here, I really enjoy this gym. I think it is a bit pricey, but the equipment is always organized and cleaned well. The staff is friendly and makes a point to greet you. There are a lot of options for classes, pools, equipment, activities that are included. The best part of the LifeTime gyms, in my opinion, is their locker rooms. They have a hot and wet sauna and really nice facilities. I feel comfortable using their facilities, and have enough space to myself. I've also used their cafe, and most of the time the staff is friendly, but they have a sour apple in their every now and then.

  • 5/5 Jacob W. 1 year ago on Google
Best gym in KC IMO! Enough free weights and machines that you can get in a good workout during peak hours. Alpha, GTX, UltraFit, and many other classes are offered. Basketball courts to hoop it up. Indoor lap pools, kid pool, hot tub, and sauna. Outdoor pool with slides. Showers are always clean. I frequent both locations in KC. Love this gym!

The staff is awesome. They fix stuff when it breaks. When you step into this place, it seems as though you are leaving the world outside. Although Lifetime is more expensive than other gyms around, I definitely feel like I am getting more. Top notch amenities, equipment, and classes. I don’t mind spending the money because I feel more motivated to go to Lifetime than other gyms I’ve been a member of. It just feels good to be there. As someone who was not much into fitness in the past, I now feel like I’m a part of a healthy community. I was also pleasantly surprised how Lifetime feels so inclusive of all fitness levels and types of people. My only complaint is I wish there were more class options in the evening, and I wish there was a larger free weight area. Overall, I highly recommend Lifetime Lenexa and/or Overland Park.

The facility is pretty much par with the others that I’ve been to around the country. The main complaint that I have is their Life Cafe hours are never consistent. There is a young man named Andy that works in the cafe and he is very vocal about his frustrations with work. The guy literally acts disgusted to be there every time we stop in. Everyone else seems professional and friendly, but Andy needs to find something that makes him happier.

I go here 4-5 times a week and will always be going here as long as I can. The staff are polite and helpful, the weight area is well maintained and any type of workout you want is doable. The biggest sell is how they reacted to covid. As soon as they were forced to close, they let us know we wouldn't be charged for a day they were closed, and when they re-opened we could defer starting back up if we wanted. This was gold in a gym for me.

It's a great gym with newer equipment and a clean facility. They have plenty of squat/power racks. It gets very busy during peak times, so try to avoid those if you are picky about what equipment you want. The best part in my opinion is the wonderful child care center. Your child will get 2.5hrs there everyday. They have wonderful staff and keep the kids engaged.
