Nice animal conservatory with committed people. The road to get there is a bit a challenge but not an obstacle. The animals find here a safe place.

Only the chimpanzees, gorillas and a few monkeys can be seen. Other parts are closed to visitors.

Place is very interesting, but better to book your tour in advance. Takes about one hour to have a tour and you will see different monkeys and gorillas. The road is not easy, you have to have a good car. Guides speak French and some English. It seems like there are so many forests in Cameroon, but monkeys are still endangered, good to see what actions are taken and to support this initiative.

Around 40KM from Yaoundé center. We took the taxi to mefou, 15000F. And the ticket cost 7500F. We can see the gorillas, chimpanzees, baboons.

Was heartwarming to see the detailed tour and know these primates are being cared for. Enjoyed the tour very much. Definitely make time to see it if you're there.

Great half day trip from Yaoundé. About an hour drive away, 7500franc entrance, and excellent guides for the around 1.5hr visit. The have about a dozen species of primates incl. western lowland gorilla and chimps. I paid a taxi 30,000 for the return journey, road is good until 2km away when it gets rough - walkable if car can't make it. Enjoy Mefou!

Don't follow google maps to arrive to that place, you will finish somewhere else, no clear indications even on the road. Avoid travel in rain as whole road is a complete mess. If you have already seen monkeys, gorillas in a zoo then better avoid going to that place.

The guide rushed us so much... we couldn't stay long... he took us around in 15 minutes on a fast walk...

Great facility for primates. Thanks to all who built this place and who come here for voluntary works.

Too handsome. Seeing gorillas in their environment was simply magnificent and impressive. I especially liked the emphasis the organization places on treating animals well and taking their well-being into account.

My experience was great. I did not make a reservation but I was able to have a tour. Thus, I recommend making one on the ape action Africa website. I also recommend buying your tickets once on-site. The road to get there is not smooth at all. You can not rely solely on Google maps. It would be extremely helpful to ask local people on the way although most kids have no idea where the park is. There’s a small shop there where you can buy water and drinks but you can’t drink or eat in front of the apes. Follow the instructions of the guide. We can’t get too close to the animals that are enclosed behind grills for their safety and mental health. The guide will also not excite them for the entertainment of visitors. So do not try to convince the guide to do anything. If you love animals, you will not be mad at the restrictions. Ape Action Africa gladly welcomes donations for those who would like to support their cause which is to protect and provide for these endangered species.

Stunning Park. I do recommend to visit le Parc de Mefou. It's one hour away from Yaoundé by taxi ( I payed 20k fcf. It's a beautiful natural place, placed in the middle of the forest far away from the polluted and chaotic capital. Its a once in life experience to see the gorillas and scimpazee. The staff is welcoming and really passionate about their job.

A really nice ape sanctuary in lovely surroundings. All of the primates are kept in spacious enclosures and seem very healthy. Much recommended!
