Awesome atmosphere, great service, fantastic food! A delight! I recommend the Picnic Platter and the Duck Breast - both were delicious! The duck fat fries were great, but not the hype I was expecting. The roasted veggies were spot on! Highly recommend!

Had an amazing birthday dinner with friends in the lounge. Lauren, our bartender, made us delicious cocktails and kept the prosecco cold tableside while we enjoyed an amazing dinner and decadent desserts!

Overrated and highly disappointed at how this establishment disrespected my tastebuds. Where should I start? Uhmm…..the one star is for my review only. Went in for dinner on 10/21/23. The atmosphere did not seem “high class” as they want it to be. I’ve been to multiple 5 star restaurants around the country and this is not one. 2. That cheese plate needs to be redesigned. There is no way that goat cheese should be that large. (Disgusting). 3. If your establishment wants to be “top rated” use words the general public can understand. The “goat cheese” mac and cheese was filled with oil and had no flavor. 4. The scallops were tasteless and chewy. 5. My husband had a steak that was flavorless and he said the “duck fat fries” tasted like regular fries from any other establishment. 5. The waitress came to my table once to ask if I needed another drink and another to get the check. (She did get a tip) My advice to anyone. Go somewhere else where you can have memories. This place falls short. This was not an enjoyable memorable dinner rather it’s something I will never try again, even if I am offered a free of anything from local chop.

Excellent food. The meat loaf was some of the best I've ever had. Definitely not your mamma's meat loaf! The Mac and cheese was different. I think they used goat cheese in it to make it tangy. The salmon was perfectly cooked and had a great ocean taste.

Super friendly staff, great ambience- not too bright but light enough to see while still being cozy. Appetizers and mains all came out surprisingly quickly. Strangely for the food coming out so quickly it was all relatively cold. Calamari came out in like 5 min and tasted great but were barely above room temp. Everything else tasted amazing but was also tepid. Maybe the plates were cold and sucked all the heat out of the food, I’m not sure. Anyway, great experience overall, the only thing I’d tweak would be the food temp. I’d definitely come back and refer others also.

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways… That pork belly special they had when I was there. I can’t write sonnets but I can quote them and that first line is dedicated to the pork belly. The flavor and the tenderness and texture? Just blew me away. Just give me a pot of it. And the cheesy grit or whatever was under it? Phenomenal. I had the filet special and my fiancé had the rib eye and we both loved our steaks too. Not too salty, perfectly done and seasoned. And the asparagus? Listen I love asparagus and when I saw the tiny skinny little thing I was like oh no this can’t be good. But when I took a bite, the flavor just burst out of that scrawny little thing. I was so tempted to get a to go order of the pork belly and the asparagus but alas I refrained and I have regretted it ever since.

Excellent dining experience! Our server Chris B was attentive and helpful with suggestions. The atmosphere is clean, inviting and spacious. And the food… delicious. I enjoyed my first time eating duck. Highly recommended. Extensive drink menu as well. This was a great choice.

The bread…omg, seriously I’d go back just for the bread. The steak was nice, service was above average. Really great staff here! Dessert was just okay. Cheeseboard had room for improvement. Did I mention the bread!?

This is the best service and food I've had in a long time. We made a reservation for a Friday night and the hostess and restaurant manager were on their game. We had to wait about 2 min when we got in and they seated us. Our waitress, Emily, was fantastic and so genuinely friendly. She made our experience great. The food was top notch - I had the duck, husband had the ribeye and it was by far the best food we've had in a long time. The pimento cheese grits should be illegal! Great beer selection and the Monte Carlo cocktail was also very tasty. Will definitely make this a regular place for us!

Have a health condition and are unable to wear a face mask. They did not let me dine in due to facemask. This is 100 percent liberalism. Please eat elsewhere and stop this madness

I went here with a group of people a few months ago. The food was decent, but the service was slow. Out of respect, I didn't want to start eating my soup until the others members of the group received their soup or salad. Soup (Roasted Pumpkin Bisque) was good, but lukewarm by the time I got to eat it. The Pork Belly Wraps are amazing. You receive 3, I could eat 15, but you know "fancy food" sometimes translates to small portions. I attached a picture of the these for review. My main entree was the Cauliflower steak (see picture) it is HUGE! with potatoes and pimento cheese grits (yum). We got our dessert to go because it seemed like forever to clear the entree plates. I would come back with my significant other, but would not recommend this for a large group of people. Also, parking is difficult at times. They do have valet available though.

Rates well on all scales! Service, decor, ambience, menu, and best of all, the food itself. Just stunningly flavorful and well presented. I can recommend the “Duck fat fries with peach ketchup”, an experience in themselves. Well worth the visit!

When you need a spot to go out with friends to celebrate a big occasion like a promotion this is spot is a good option. The service was Marvels, to the point that even Ross from friends would have been impressed. The sirloin special was so expertly cooked to a medium rare that it felt like you were looking at a beautiful piece of high grade tuna. Seasonal veggies were a great compliment, only bested by the company. If they have the coffee ice cream, I highly recommend.

The perfect spot for a casually upscale meal. Indoor and outdoor seating both with great atmosphere. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Excellent drink menu and wonderful service. Highly recommend!

Delicious, fresh, and greatest tasting food in Harrisonburg. We had an amazing waitress who answered all of our questions. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection, and the Ratatouille was absolutely divine. The wine list was wonderful. It's definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Virginia.

Local Chop & Grill House has exceeded my expectations. Everything from the appetizer to the entrée then to the dessert was delicious. I had crispy brussels sprouts with cauliflower for an appetizer and it was full of flavor. Then for entrée, I had the grilled NY strip with a side of mac and cheese and pimento cheese grits. My partner had grilled Ribeye with a side of asparagus and mashed potatoes. It's not an exaggeration when I say everything tasted heavenly! For dessert, I had the Spiced Peach which came with oat crumble and house made vanilla ice cream topped with chooped up mint. Again, that was also delicious. Parking is extremely hard to find so you might have to park a block or two away from the restaurant, that was the only downside of the restaurant.

Service of four stars, because we had a reservation, but had to wait for them to clear and set a table. Atmosphere was five stars due to our waiter, Brandon. He did a good job with relaying the specials and by describing a local menu item. He checked in when appropriate and made sure we were satisfied. They also had enough staff to have a busser, who was attentive in refilling our waters and clearing plates in a timely manner. Food was four stars, because of the wait time; it took an hour to receive our food. The food was delicious. Photo of duck with asparagus is attached.

Service was incredible, and the waiter was happy to assist our group with a gluten intolerance and recognized a birthday. Most places never read the notes on the OpenTable reservation, so it really stood out that they did. Food was exceptional and very reasonably priced. I would happily return.

My husband and I came her once for our anniversary a few years ago and we enjoyed the atmosphere and food so we decided to have our rehearsal dinner here the night before the wedding and it was great. I made a reservation about 6 months ahead of time and was provided with all of the information and prices about the reservation. My guest count changed slightly but they were very flexible. The food was delicious, and the service was quick. They were all very friendly and professional. Would recommend Local Chop and Grill House.

We went here for our anniversary dinner! Probably one of the best meals we have ever eaten! I was a little disappointed we were seated at a table downstairs by the main entrance where we couldn’t see out a window. It was very dim, sort of like a cave. We will definitely go back because the food and service were phenomenal but I will request a table upstairs next time.

I really did enjoy my experience at this restaurant. The bar is super cool and casual, while the restaurant is more upscale, but I think it works magnificently. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, gave wonderful recommendations. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Would definitely go again.

We were regulars for a few years but were disappointed with our last visit. It was my birthday and my husband wanted it to be special. Normally they do something like surprise with a desert. The waiter wasn’t bothered at all with doing anything extra. It wasn’t like they were busy. I accidentally made reservations today for our anniversary but will be canceling after I reminded myself about our last experience.

My family of five made reservations for mid-evening easily. The best part was the high-quality and locally sourced ingredients. We were here as part of our vacation and I wish a similar place was open near home. Highly recommend having all 3 courses and the rainbow trout.

Came here to celebrate our father’s 70th birthday while on vacation nearby. The food and service (ask for Chris!) was top notch from start to finish. The feature of locally-sourced ingredients has become popular, but they did it without being pretentious. And the staff was both knowledgeable and helpful in navigating the menu. Definitely come here if you are looking to indulge.

My wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner, and Chop house delivers in such a big way. I really appreciate their attention to the smallest details as well as the big ones. Their environment is wonderful, not too loud, friendly, cozy, inviting, and just feels like a place you want to be. Their food... absolutely succulent. All four courses have something to offer your taste buds. I ordered the 21-day aged Ribeye as a main course, and it was perfect. Perfectly cooked, perfectly cut, and perfectly served. Our server was charismatic but also operated in the background as much as he could (which was great for our anniversary dinner). All in all 5 stars and if I could give it a 6th I would.

Absolutely delicious food and wonderful service. We came for a romantic dinner and our experience was immaculate. I loved the house-made focaccia and the sirloin was cooked to perfection. The waiter made helpful suggestions and was so personable. I feel terrible that I forgot his name. We were visiting from out of town but I will definitely return when I am back in the area.

It is hard to pinpoint the best part of this dining experience. The atmosphere is beautiful, we were on the second floor of a well decorated and preserved building. It was elegant and modern. The service was just perfect, friendly and responsive. Our cocktails were so delicious with a nice selection and the meal itself was the highlight of my trip. I had a very delicious, expertly cooked steak. The sides were so good, my only regret, if I have one, is I did not have room for dessert. I will make a point of traveling back to this restaurant.

I loved my dinner here! We had a wonderful time and our server was kind and helpful explaining the menu. They had an awesome selection of local beers and cider. I had one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time and they had a cool choice of sauces to go with the entree choices. I’ll definitely go back the next time I’m in Harrisonburg!

Sad to provide this low rating. Pro comments are the ambiance is lovely and the staff pleasant. Cons are the long wait for food after which my husband received the incorrect cut of meat from what he ordered, my salmon was overcooked, thin and flat (end piece?). After waiting so long for our food, we just ate it, not wanting to wait for new food. The green beans were so-so and the accompanying sauce for the fries just disappointing. Salad ok. The bread was the best part of the meal....I think bread is only served on request. Perhaps we will try again one day, perhaps not.

The service was great and the food was v excellent! Great dining experience. We went with family and chose "outdoor" seating because of covid. Their outdoor is actually covered and has large glass sliding doors. But all staff were wearing masks, gloves to bring food and they asked patrons to wear masks when they left the table. Make reservations early and it's pricey, but worth it.

This restaurant was perfect for the occasion I was there for (my boyfriend's birthday). He loves steak and he couldn't get over how great his ribeye was....or the bread and chive butter combination! I ordered the roasted chicken and was told it took 45 minutes to cook and it was worth every second. It was so moist and seasoned perfectly and ironically enough the chimichurri sauce it came with paired well with my boyfriend's steak. Our waiter Ethan was fantastic and gave us perfectly detailed explanations of our drink choices. If you like strong cocktails this restaurant is for sure a win win haha. Additionally, we were spread out from surrounding parties and I could see all of the staff and kitchen staff properly masked! And the lighting and decor were perfect mood setters. I'll definitely return the next time in the area! Also the calamari and Little Gem Caesar were delicious

We are visiting Harrisonburg for New Years and came here for dinner. They were very accommodating. Made sure we had a table where we can sit together. We had Tim as our server. He was spectacular! We’re from DC and the service we received exceeds the five star restaurants we’ve eaten at in the past. Thank you to the manger and Tim for a fantastic evening. Try the cream brûlée. It’s to die for.

Such a warm, welcoming environment. The staff were all SO amazing and kind. Shoutout to our waiter, Ethan, he did awesome. Another staff member took pictures for us, I didn’t catch her name, but she was a sweetheart. The food is definitely worth the price, I got the sirloin steak and it was delicious. The music is also really good. Overall, I had an amazing experience and LOVE chop house. Thank you for making my anniversary special.

Great place! We were in town for just a couple of nights and wanted a special occasion place and we weren’t disappointed! We really enjoyed our meal! Got a wings appetizer, they were so very good, and for main dishes got filet entrees, they were cooked perfectly, with 1 side, that is how they come, but you can have add ons, such as mushrooms, which I got for myself and they were delicious, or blue cheese butter, which my husband said was divine. There are also shrimp or scallops add ons in case that is more of your taste. There was also a choice of several sides. They don’t have asparagus anymore unfortunately, as some pictures show, but they do have excellent fries, very good Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, grits, a touch soupy however, but still good and green beans with tomatoes, which were not bad. Finished off with delicious dessert, panna cotta, which was amazing and cheesecake, which wasn’t traditional, but still good, would love to try other choices, hopefully another time. And the Spanish wine we ordered to go with the meal was delicious! Do Recommend this steakhouse, but not an everyday place, it is $$$, but worth it

Food & Service was great. We got the Filet and Bison Burger and would certainly get again. The only thing I wouldn't suggest is sitting on the corner patio table on a hot night. We sat there originally and it was very still so we requested to move inside and the staff was very accommodating.
