Plan 1:30h to walk up to the cable car station and another 1:30h to explore when you are up. Add another hour going down and you have spent 4 amazing hours without spending any money. Hike is super easy and safe. Keep in mind that it can be quite cold and windy up there. We went early November and temperatures where around 0 degree celcius

Amazing place. A few recommendations when hiking at around 2,500m - a jumper/trousers are useful, it can get cold. High socks and tight shoes can help reduce the amount of stones in your shoe. You can enter the park for free. Many tours offer 4x4 transport, but you don't need it.

A lot of parking. Pay cash only. A lot of free walking area to explore Etna by yourself . It's COLD up there. Go prepared. Next time I will plane a whole day visit, and will carry proper shoes and food to spend a whole day exploring and walking in the volcano .

As a nature lover it was a must hike! Unfortunately on the "the top" - 2500m where the cableway arrives its really tourism. There's nearly one way to the "platform" for tourists at 2750m. It's not allowed to go higher, since June 2021. We planned a home to Torre del Filosofo at 2900m and at about 2800 some geological professional told us it's too dangerous for tourists and we had to go back. The worst thing was we had to hike a long time next to the busses (it's possible to go up by cableway and then drive bus a bus to 2750). So it was not that nature feeling we expected. Never the less its worth a visit! Some ways where not closed and we could finished our hike away from the busses. If you want to go up by cableway - round-trip 30,- per person and one way 24,- per person. During our trip (Sep 2021) there was nearly no waiting time.

Impressive Park with good infrastructure. You can hike around on your own Up to a certain hight or go with a guide and/or group. If you need local transport there is only one AST bus from Catania at 8:15 AM / return 4:30 PM. Ticket must be bought at Ticket Office near Catania Centrale and in high season in advance. We had a cloudy and foggy day but still a nice trip! Be prepared for all seasons๐Ÿงฃ๐Ÿ‘•๐Ÿงขโ˜‚๏ธ๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ

The most magnificent vulcanic mountain I've ever been. You can feel first hand the power of unleashed nature, how Mother earth works and gives birth to lava flows, new forms of life support. The whole island is from lava, but here the panorama will take your breath for real. Beware of local guids, most are polite, but some are kind of bully when trespassing some signs.

Amazing place, definitely a unique experience. You can be a witness of the true force of nature. We booked a guided tour with GO Etna (best tour I ever had) and explored it for half a day, hearing Etna errupt every hour. If you are in Catania (not that interesting city), you need to spend a day here and this will be the highlight of your trip.

A must do when visiting Catania and Sicily! In the January months it is truly magical to have the snow on the Mediterranean. A guide is recommended as there is a lot of great knowledge and fun facts about the local area - such as the lava tunnels, towns that have an earthquake every week, and local flora that is unique to Etna! Some really fantastic views during January, but if you do go in the winter, make sure to bring some sunglasses and wrap up warm as it is very bright, and cold! Lots of amenities such as toilets, a cable car, a restaurant with shops at reasonable prices are present on the north side of Etna.

Absolutely worth a visit! There's a couple craters near the carpark which you can visit for free. Ample parking. Some nice restaurants and cafes. The cable cars are worth going on and there is a cafe and gift shop at the top.

A definite "must-do" when you are in Sicilia! But definitely not an insider - so prepare for lots of people up there! There are some (guided) tours on other areas than the famous northern park with the cable car. If you are fit you might wanna check them out as well. But for a touristic half-day-trip: do it! The flora is amazing, the view is astonishing and the moon-like surface absolutely unique.

Even if you are in Sicily for one short weekend, you must definitely drive there, at least to the foot of Mount Etna. I was in January, winter, strong wind, rapidly changing weather, clouds covering you alternately with strong sun. take a UV protection filter. Donโ€™t buy trip with travel office, from Catania there are busses 2ways for a few โ‚ฌ. You should think of shoes that can get damaged - the crust of lava is very hard and rough. I had to throw my Decathlon mountain boots in the trash at the airport because I looked like a vagabondi. Non siamo vagabondi.

Amazing park and all villages around... You go up there by cablecar and if you want summit and weather is good and volcano is in sleep mode you take local guide and go up by foot... We were in one cave that was created in one big eruption... ... All recommendations for visit and take some nice pictures and videos ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Beautiful place, at the bottom of the volcano there is a hotel, a cafeteria, and many giftshops. The parkings were large and secured by some very nice fellows, who you will have to pay whatever you want. Then with the guides we took the cable car and went up to 2500m. Then our tour began, we climbed up to 3000m. We did this during spring time so there was some snow and it was pretty cold but that didn't stop us. At the top we admired the beautiful view and even ate lunch.

Ofcorse if one is in Sicilia one HAS to visit ETNA, however if you want to have the perfect experience you have to take a guided tour. There is much more than the craters and the cable carry, such as caves, the river testing ground, snow caves...

Breathtaking ! The highest volcano mountain in Europe. When you getting closer you slowly understand the unbelievable beauty of this place. Itโ€™s unlike other mountains that I saw. The volcano and the eruptions over the years cause the soil, the plants and the landscape to be different. Looks like mars.. Its so special. The land in the area is very fertile and there are thousands of dunams of pistachio crops. Donโ€™t miss this mountain!

A Stunning place and view at the right weather. The second biggest volcano in Europe. If your travelling into Sicily, it a must tick off on your list! The cooler temperature was actually lovely in this time of year Octoberโ€ฆ Plenty of restaurants to satisfy your hunger and thirst plus a post card for the family too.

Letโ€™s start by saying the place has a great Ora about it but after 20minutes itโ€™s all the same the suns blazing down on you, the footing is hard work like walking on sand at 30โ€ข at the top the views are spectacular, and no doubt if fit and healthy and love a challenge this is a great place , we booked with get your tour which were really friendly but the pace is relentless and hard on the calves

Extraordinary! it was like being on another planet. Nature always surprises us. Our tour was incredible, we walked and climbed for hours! And it was worth it. The guides were very friendly, they took care of us, with patience and respect, our guides were super professionals who speak several languages. We learned a lot about the volcano, the history and everything that makes it unique! I loved the tour. I love italy and all the people, culture and nature of sicily especially! Recommended!!!

The place where most excursions/tours start to explore Mount Etna. Beautiful views, plenty of restaurants, parking, souvenir shops and toilets etc. A "must" to visit when you're in Sicily!
