The Greenwich Pensioner

Hotel

👍👍 The Greenwich Pensioner, what can I say? A pub updated and turned with a more eating feel rather than a boozer. However, all the better for that. This is a place that says "we are going to make this work!" What a team resides here! Love it. Not a real ale pub but for us keg aficionados all is good!...

Wonderful people and good pies by the look of it. X to everyone here!

This is a true gem of a restaurant. Beautifully remodeled while honoring the rich tradition of the location, it is a perfect atmosphere of warmth, style, and attentive, friendly service. The food is outstanding in every way. Creatively constructed of the freshest ingredients, flavors artfully blended, and prices that are very reasonable for the quality of the food. The flatbread starter was as delicious as it was beautiful. Our steaks were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The accompanying sauce and chips were spot on. This is a must visit!

We brought a group of 12 from the International Wine and Food Society. The chef Gemma did an excellent job and did very well to serve such a large group from a very small kitchen. We had a lobster cocktail to start, then a hazelnut-crusted lamb chop, which was excellent, and poached pears in Marsala wine to follow. Finally, some divine home-made chocolates with coffee. The service was friendly and we were very well looked after.

Went for a Sunday roast, they did a lovely children's portion for my niece which was delicious and the baked camembert was yummy! Sat in the beer garden in the back which was really nice, will definitely be back

Newly reopened under a new owner. The neighborhood is an odd mix of poor and gentrification. It was easy to get to via public transit. We enjoyed meeting Persephone and her staff. The decor is perfect. Will be back and might book a room upstairs!

Great afternoon at the Greenwich pensioner. Ayush was incredible at his job and made us feel very welcome! The roast was delicious (gave us a free mini roast to try!) and they had a great selection of drinks. Would recommend this place to anyone

The pub must have changed hands recently. I really dislike negative reviews but I have to share. The people were nice, but it was easily the most disappointing sunday roast I’ve ever had. Specifically, the beef was mediocre, yorkshires shop bought, potatoes part-cooked and the gravy was brown water. Nobody asked (even when paying) if the food was okay, which made us think maybe they knew when bringing it out!

Stayed with a friend for two days and it was a lovely experience. The lady with long dark hair and glasses was very polite and sweet which made it better! I hope she sees this!

Absolutely lovely pub, Ayush (hope I spelt that right!) was a phenomenal host and made us feel welcome our first visit! I think we have found our new local!

We turned up for a few beers on Saturday at around 8.30pm. There was nobody in there except two barmen and they had the lights off with a projector showing Johnny English. The staff were nice enough, but the pub lacked any atmosphere whatsoever. We finished our flat lagers and got out of there.
