Nick is a really a nice guy who respects your tastes/needs. This is not at the detriment of having a backbone in high pressure situations though. We approached Rich Harvey to assist us in looking for a property suitable for dual living. We needed level access, privacy and independence for my elderly parents, downsizing after 50 years in the same home. We also needed to amply accommodate our own family with two fast growing primary-age children. We had limited budget and time constraints as well as family medical challenges to contend with. It was a tricky brief even without the housing market taking off like a rocket in the midst! In coming to this situation, we lacked experience as buyers but carried plenty of responsibility with the commitment to support my parents through this transition. We engaged them in March 2021 through Buyers Buyers (Pete Wargents new venture) as they have a partnership with them. This enabled us to access them at a lower price then they would normally charge. Stewart Fraser was assigned to us as we were looking to buy in the west of Sydney. The first thing that Stewart told us that he was surprised that Property Buyer agreed to this arrangement (lower price) as they normally charge a lot more. From then on I think he must have decided that he was not going to devote enough time for us. The few deals we got from him did not meet our brief and weren't off market as they always say they get. It would be weeks before we would hear back from Stewart. The communication was poor and didn't make us feel confident. We felt a lot of time was wasted as the market had started to move very fast. Interestingly Stewart also runs his own buyers agency apart from working for Rich. Clearly, there is a conflict of interest there. For all the marketing and self promotion they do, the level of service clearly falls short. If you intend to engage them, I would suggest getting them to commit to communicating regularly and keeping to your brief. Otherwise you will end up wasting weeks and months looking at properties that don't meet your requirements. We wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Better to work with independent buyer's agent or a smaller agency that gives more personal service. But ensure you maintain control. We decided to cancel the engagement after months of inactivity and fair amount of disappointment. Rich seems knowledgeable but it doesn't translate into his employees service levels. I would suggest them to regroup and assess where they are falling short and work on improving those areas. EDIT: Rich reached out to me given the poor review. In his words he said it will impact how potential clients perceive his company. I mentioned to him that this review isn't criticising him specifically but more about how Stewart Fraser treated us post realizing that we had been assigned to him at a lower price point (11k vs 15k which they normally charge). But it is clear that Stewart wasn't fully across the arrangement between Property Buyers (Rich) and Buyers Buyer (Pete). It is a reflection on poor processes and comms within the company between the owner and staff. Basically, we were not given the same amount of time and service by the agent despite the market conditions. I do not agree with the fact that Stewart wasn't running his own side hustle whilst also working for Rich as mentioned in the response from Rich. I found that out while searching online at the time we engaged them and it was mentioned on his social media page very publicly. In my discussion with Rich I mentioned that I am trying to be fair in my assessment and don't want to be influenced to remove my review. It is only fair to potential customers of Property Buyers so that they can make an informed decision. But appreciate the fact that Rich has accepted to improve his company processes and to invest in staff training etc. For this I am bumping up the rating by one star.
