The Mexican food here was amazing. Seemed a bit like a locals restaurant which was great to see. Prices are good too although it is cash only. I would definitely recommend going here if you are looking for authentic Mexican food away from the tourist areas.

Absolutely delicious. We came by way of Cancun food tours. It's a family run restaurant & it's true to its Mayan roots. Full palm roof & the family lives next door.We tasted what we call enchiladas...it was filled with hard boiled egg & it was so tasty. I myself was surprised by how good it was. Then we had traditionally prepared Cochinita pibil(slow roasted pork) it was mouth watering delicious & full of flavor. The horchata was fresh & tasted so good. Definitely recommend this local longtime family run restaurant to eat at if in Cancun.

I came here following a Cancun street food tour. I had the taco and rice water. The taco is soooo yummy, best taco that I ever had. Unfortunately it’s a tour, I did not get a chance to try other things they have.

The food is good but lacks strong flavors. The tamale (4/5) was the best thing I had here. The cochinata pibil was tender but lacked strong flavor (3.5/5) but the tortillas were delicious. The papadzules (3/5) was good but again not too much flavor. Service was super nice tho

Lots of local Mayan dishes. Sopa de lima, pollo pibil and the cochinta were the highlights. Lomita and tamales were ok. The queso relleno wasn't great. Cash only and you really have to know some Spanish to order.

Place was great until the very last second as we were leaving. Had great local food with amazing flavors. My personal favorite was the panchunos (pollo/chicken). The tamales were great as well, super flavorful. The feel there was very reminiscent of a typical grandmas kitchen. We left very happy and satisfied until we saw the cockroaches (all sizes) right by our table. We tried to convince ourselves that they came from the outside since the door was open right on the street. But other than that, great food, flavor, staff, value for price.

Small restaurant but they serve great food. They have fresh guava juice which is a must-try. Grilled banana on one of the egg dishes we ordered was amazing taste. For breakfast/brunch, the divorced eggs was the best among all we ordered. Service was very fast too.

Absolute gem off the tourist path. The food here is not only among the best we tried in Mexico but, it’s local, fairly priced and served in very generous portions. Although the area did look a bit sketchy, we always felt safe and had no problem driving our own car, parking at night and eating (we are Canadian). If you are willing to step off the beaten path with an open mind and ready to put the Spanish you have learned into practice, make sure you hit Lonchería el Pocito! We spent a total of $420 Mexican pesos for two dishes and two drinks. Amazing bargain!

Simple restaurant with a simple menu! Their dishes taste homemade and very good. Loved trying all of their different tamales. Def recommend for lunch if you're already in the area. Kind of far from hotel area and is in a not walking-friendly route. So make sure you have Uber app for a pick-up!

Lonchería El Pocito in Cancun set the bar high as the first stop on our taco and beer tour, quickly becoming our favorite taco spot. Specializing in local specialties, this hidden gem offered an authentic experience that resonated with the locals. The prices were incredibly reasonable, making it a budget-friendly delight. The atmosphere, though charmingly hole-in-the-wall, exuded a certain kind of magic that added to the overall experience. If you’re in Cancun and seeking genuine, delicious tacos with a local touch, Lonchería El Pocito is a must-visit. It’s the epitome of a hidden culinary treasure.

Recommended by a local and we were happy with the restaurant. A little out of the way but worth it. Well go back again. The young waitress spoke English quite well.

Stopped here on a food tour and loved the food and drinks. Amazing local cuisine. Definitely stop here for a meal - it's fantastic. Wish I had taken more pics of the food - it didn't last very long enough...

Love Mexican food so had to try flavors from different regions. This is a local spot serving up Yucatecan specialities. Don’t expect anything fancy or A/C; the place is very simple and decorated like a hut inside. Ingredients are fresh and the flavors work so well! We ordered the cochinita, papadzules, queso relleno… so delicious!

What a great restaurant. Went here on a taco tour. The leaf roof is unique and interesting. The staff was accommodating of a person in our group that dietary restrictions. They went out of their way to prepare a unique dish. The pork dish the rest of us had was wonderful.

Delicious. Went for lunch, had the poc chuq and supa de lima. Both were amazing and it’s worth the trip if you are in town.

Authentic mexican day to day food, extremely cheap and quite tasty. Don't expect a luxurious restaurant as that is not its goal. We were very happy with the meal we got and surprised at how cheap it is. Must take some tamales to go. We ate them as breakfast and they were great!

My favorite spot to eat in Cancun. First and last meal on my holiday. Also my introduction to comida Yucateca. Friendly staff- make sure you’ve brushed up on your meal time Spanish, but you can get away with it if you’re saavy. Try to make it in for breakfast too- they’re motolenos are outstanding. Bring pesos!

Delicious foods featuring unique dishes from the Yucatán peninsula. The service was excellent as well, and the agua fresca de guanabana was spectacular. The lime soup had a great citrus zing, the sauces made with care, and the cochinita pibil was juicy.

Really good food! I had enchiladas with chicken and they were the best I’ve ever tasted. I’ve had my fair share of enchiladas so I can confidently share that these were amazing. The service was pretty good and the restaurant was clean. They took my temp before entering and gave me hand sanitizer. Wanted to try their empanadas but they had a limited daily menu. Overall loved the food!

😠 This is the first time here and I ordered an omelette with veggies and cheese. When I seen it first I was kind of irritated how they just put the veggies in the omelette but I must admit it was very good. As you know already I like it simple, fresh, and good. The dish came with chips and an awesome...
