The pros: the beach is fantastic, we went in late September and the water was perfect and very little seaweed. The rooms were nice and spacious. The pool is absolutely fantastic, we spent most of our time in the infinity pool. You will have plenty of poolside chairs to choose from. The beds in the room were very comfy, and the AC worked very well. The service around the entire hotel was fantastic, the people here really were top notch. The cons; Food and Drink at the hotel are on the expensive side for the quality that you get. The poolside drinks all tasted watered down. If you venture out for food near the hotel, everything is extremely overpriced. We went to Fred's multiple nights as that was the closest to affordable in the area. The elevators, yes this sounds weird but the elevators would frequently not let us on our floor. Several times we would have to get off on a close floor, then take the stairs. Not an issue except we had a baby in a stroller with us which made this a bit more difficult. Advice: if you are coming to relax and not break the bank, wait until early 2024 when the Marriott next door reopens from their renovation. They will be all inclusive and you still get all of the benefits from the beach and location. Food in the area is $25+ per person for pasta, $50+ for steak, $30+ for most Mexican dishes.

To say this is a 5 star resort is a stretch. Is it very nice - yes. Is the staff attentive and friendly -yes. Does the hotel have good amenities - yes. But 5 star is a different level than this one. In fact, having stayed next door last time at the Marriott I can't find a big difference at all other than the price. So with the higher price comes higher expectations and they just don't do it. As a lifetime titanium member I have stayed at many hotels and just not feeling anything extraordinary about this one. In addition we paid for the upgrade to club 91 and I having a hard time understanding what we paid for and to how it is a good value. The written description online calls for 5 meal experiences and they barely have 3. Breakfast is great, as well as, lunch is pretty good. Dinner is total disappointment. And the other two meals don't exist. The afternoon tea seems to be displaced by some 30m activity like margarita making or wine tasting. The evening 8-10 fruit cheese and pastries also doesn't exist. The pastries are the same tired ones from dinner and maybe lunch. So 60% of what was advertised. To make matters worse we had two rooms booked on the premium floor and non available so they moved us down a few floor to a normal room. Small things too that bother - the fitness equipment is run down and old - not well maintained. You can see dust on some machines. The same cup of water was sitting for three days in the window sill etc. What always makes stays in Mexico great are the people and no doubt they have great people. Just tie it together to make the entire experience special. I asked to speak to a GM and have yet to hear anything - so they don't seem to care if you have any problems too.

Stayed for a week with the club 91 access which was definitely a nice option. Didn’t spend much time at the hotel during the day but the breakfast and dinners at the club were great. The sunsets that we caught were amazing. Late night relaxing on the beach and in the hot tubs were serene. I checked out their tour guide office out of curiosity and I would definitely suggest using an online service like trip advisor etc. instead as the options on the hotel were limited. But, the overall service was supreme.

My husband and I have stayed here twice and each time the JW Marriott has been an excellent experience. I highly recommend this hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Service is quick at the pool, hotel bar, all three restaurants, and room service is fast. We really enjoyed the food at each restaurant as well. Cleanliness is a 10/10 throughout the resort. Staff were very polite about making sure all guests were wearing masks when they needed to be worn. This hotel is most certainly worth the money and we will continue coming back to the JW!

The JW Cancun is situated in a nice spot easily walkable to very nice restaurants off property. The grounds and hotel themselves are very beautiful and well kept up. Though there on a popular long weekend, it never seemed crowded and we were always able to find lounge chairs, a table at the bar, etc. We didn't actually eat at the restaurants for dinner, but had the breakfast buffet, beach bar for lunch, gift shop pizza, drinks at the lobby bar, and ordered room service one night. I would say everything was GOOD, maybe not quite what I was expecting. The only real negatives for me were 1) Our room was right outside the elevators which seemed quiet at first but we quickly learned they ding every time the doors open, and we could hear that from inside our room. Not relaxing at all in the evening or as the entire floor went down for breakfast throughout the morning. Our room also was a deluxe ocean view but more than half our view was of the Marriott next door, so that didn't seem right.

This hotel although had rooms refurbishment done clearly is in need of a facelift in the common areas. I hadn’t stayed here since they opened the property. The property has a nice beach but location exposes it to very large waves which wouldn’t be ideal for those with younger children. This is also not an all inclusive property which I found to be a negative but okay for those traveling with larger groups. It’s about a 7-10 minute ride to the nightlife area. They have a club level floor, but if you are not Marriott elite you’ll need to fork over another $260 a night for access for 3-4 people. Club level food was average to below average in my personal opinion, but the service was good which was the only redeeming quality so it was a nice to have. But after adding the club option to the price of the room I could’ve just stayed at an all inclusive property instead. The lounge chairs by the pool were probably the best part of the property with the large cushions. But the pools looked dated and the drinks average and way overpriced. Also the room wasn’t clean and the tub had a yellow stain to it which was a bit nasty that you would think it would be cleaner with Covid. Elevator was severely outdated and not well kept for the price paid. While this JW was once beautiful when it first opened, it unfortunately has completely lost its luster since its heyday.

Overall: excellent hotel and amenities, phenomenal service, would likely come back if I visited Cancun again. Pros: - service was really good: issues were promptly followed up on, someone was available to answer questions at all times, housekeeping did an incredible job! - adults only pool with a swim up bar -ocean views from most rooms and balcony on all rooms and easy ocean access from the resort - abundance of beach chairs that are all ocean-facing and all have cushions. We also loved the umbrellas here, they were not cloth umbrellas and so didn't flap in the wind, and had attached tables that were useful for setting down drinks, etc. - lobby bar has an excellent selection of margaritas Cons: - restaurants were just okay, and had a lack of good vegetarian options. Also we wished there was more authentic Mexican food! - our door on the balcony wouldn't lock, and it was not fixed despite asking a couple times -there are only two pools that you can actually swim in, the other pools are a scuba pool or just decorative -not the hotels fault, but: the Marriott is connected to this resort, so if you are choosing the JW for a more adult vibe, know that there will be plenty of kids around.

As an Ambassador, this hotel has the best service around. We have stayed 4 times here in different years and each time the service is impeccable. Each staff member around the hotel takes great pride in what they do, great attitudes and it shows. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable and easy access to the hotel amenities and the Marriott Cancun next door. Absolutely my favorite hotel on the strip. I will definitely be back again. Thank you all for a wonderful experience....again. Kudos to all and management, please award them all with something. Even just a thank you from the Marriott family to themselves.

We stayed at JW Marriott for 5 nights and 4 days. We shopped in their gift shop. Ate in their restaurants and enjoyed their amenities. The staff was always so happy, friendly, and service oriented. Our hotel room was in excellent condition and beautiful!!! When we ate dinner it was always great food and accompanied by candles and entertainment. The maids did a great job cleaning our room early every day and came for a turn down service. The gift shop was open late and had really good ice cream/ sherbet. The staff out doors was so amazing! We loved our stay with JW Marriott so much and have no desire to stay anywhere else. You can tell the employees love their jobs and are so happy to be working and serving there. One employee told us he works in paradise. Thank you JW Marriott for everything! We love you all! Love Sandy and Hugh Meadows

My wife and I recently stayed at the JW Marriott Cancun and were very pleased with the overall experience. This was our first time in Cancun and we did a lot of research leading up to the trip. We were torn between the Ritz Carlton and the JW and believe we made the right decision. There was a good energy at the pool but still very relaxing and spacious, there were several food options between the JW and neighboring Marriott property, and the service was excellent across all areas. I can't think of anything where the JW fell short of our expectations. We did walk down to Harry's one night for a steak dinner and highly recommend that venue, as well. We will definitely be visiting the JW again in the future.

This hotel was amazing. The property is super clean. The rooms are clean and updated. The bed was super comfortable. The food at Club 91 was good. A lot of the same things everyday, but it was good. It was nice not to worry about breakfast. Evening cocktails were decent. The first day here everyone was so nice! As the days went by the mood of the people changed. I felt like I was treated differently because I spoke Spanish and was not an American and I was a woman. That’s for sure the Latin culture on how they treat women. And this is the only reason I’m not giving them a 5 start. The 4 start is because the property was great and clean. There was a lot of seaweed but they tried to clean in the morning as much as possible. Most of their restaurants were close.

Recently stayed at the JW Marriott Cancun with my family and I was more than pleased with the facilities, customer service attention at the hotel. Everything was clean. The food was amazing, and the attention to detail like for example having an eagle to scare away seagulls and other pest birds. Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay more amable. I’d like to praise specifically the staff and chefs at Club 91. Will definitely make this an annual vacation and hope to come back sooner.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars because this resort is EXCELLENT!! I have a gluten allergy and every restaurant, room service and food service by the pool accommodated my gluten allergy. All of the different food was delicious and I never had any reaction. Everyone that works here is friendly, helpful and goes out of their way to make your vacation AWESOME! From keeping your water bottles chilled in iced filled containers by the pool to restaurant and activity recommendations. Our room was comfortable and the view of the ocean amazing! I would highly recommend the JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa to everyone (couples, families, groups and even wedding - we saw a beautiful couple get wed)!

This hotel was truly perfect in everything. I recommend that you choose the meal-inclusive option. This place offers meals and drinks that are different from the cheaper all-inclusives. For your information, I was very satisfied with the cocktail. Looking at the Caribbean Sea in the morning and evening helped me forget all my worries. I also felt rewarded for my hard work. Although it was a short period of time, we received the best treatment during our stay and the whole family was happy. Thank you Marriott Hotel.

Pool is great, nothing else. Cleanness in the room should be improved. Staffs at the lobby were not really helpful. Marriott bellman did a much better job than JW. Stayed at both properties for two nights. I would agree the value ($60) between these two properties. However, don’t set your expectation high, this property is not comparable with Ritz or Waldorf Astoria, just a better Marriott with worse services.

Stayed 5 nights. I had an ocean view on the 12th floor with access to club 91. Room was excellent, housekeeping was outstanding. The pool and service was top notch. Very small beach area though due to erosion. The spa facilities were outstanding with massage being a perfect 10. Club 91 is a good deal. It saves you money if you are diligent about using it for all meals plus drinks later on at night. The staff there are most genuinely friendly people. I've traveled to Cancun for over 24 years for the most part on a yearly basis. Best treatment hands down at JW by all staff. I would stay there in a heartbeat. Booked package through Costco and I felt it was a good deal. The price doubles in the summer and it doesn't become reasonable. First two weeks of Nov is the best time to go. Cheap, perfect temperature and low humidity.

Rooms: The rooms are refined with new American oak wood finish, frosted glass bathroom with great ambient lighting options, TV was large and plenty of storage space with a safe. The common areas looked to have new carpet and wood finishing to match the rooms, definitely 5* room quality Hotel: Good but limited restaurant choices, fairly high end but prices not overly extortionate. Lack of trash cans was frustrating Location: Excellent location on the hotel zone strip, 3 minute walk to the bus stops and 10-16 minutes drive to the top of Cancun hotel zone for clubs and bars Service: pool, hotel, bellboy, concierge and restaurant staff were excellent and fluent in English, maid service was great except for turning our AC down too cold after cleaning Pool: very large pool area with adults only areas, water is far too cold and the jacuzzi is small and Luke warm with only a few weak jets that seem to work, no turbo mode available. Don’t be fooled by the photos most of the pools are decorative and not accessible. There’s only 2 main pools

So this hotel is amazing. Views, beach and rooms. Service was horrible. I booked a double bed lounge room. I had to pay extra for both of my children. One adult price and one child. This is an extra 225 a night. Our nightly rate for a room was over 900. On the Marriott website, the room details say you can get a roll away in the room so my younger ones could sleep separate. When I called down to get the bed; I was told this isn't the US. I couldn't believe it. Then, upon going to the lounge after each shift change we were asked our room number and then they would go check and see if we paid for extra people. So much for the personal service you are to receive at that level. I am also a Platinum member so loyal to Marriott. I have never been treated like this at a Marriott. I will give it another try because of the location, but I will contact Marriott while I am there if I am treated this way again.

Excellent service, beautiful grounds, incredible food, amazing beach, and very friendly staff. Recent stay with a large group from TEK and you could tell we were truly appreciated as guests. The resort and nearby area felt extremely safe. Plenty of stuff do to on site where we didn't need to venture outside of the hotel zone. One of the cleanest beaches I have ever been on. Definitely recommend a visit to the SPA (one of the best massages ever) and the cooking class (if offered) was a lot of fun and made an insane amount of food (go hungry). Will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Cancun.

I really enjoyed my stay at the JW Marriott in Cancun. The hotel is beautiful and the unique scent when you first walk into the lobby is lovely, and you can buy it in the spa. The rooms are spacious and they all have great views of either the ocean or the bay. The Italian restaurant on property Gustino’s was amazing! They had a lady playing the violin during dinner and she was excellent! The beach is pristine and the ocean is absolutely gorgeous. They have a huge pool that is split into sections so it doesn’t feel crowded. Friendly staff, comfy bed and lots of shops and restaurants on property.

We have stayed here twice, and I have zero complaints! Everyone is so welcoming, everyone!!!! The food out at the beach walk restaurant is really good! Alvaro the waiter is fantastic! Our room attendant Eduardo treated us like KINGS! He made the room up perfectly every day, helped us out with a bad coffee maker and made sure we had everything we needed each day, to the point we came in from a day at the beach with a beautiful rose petal arrangement. Totally above and beyond! Such a beautiful hotel and experience!

Room - plenty of space in the room. The Ocean View Room is misleading since it only has 30 to 45 degrees view of the ocean. Hence,It deserves a three stars rating. Hotel interior is a bit out dated and needs renovation. Service - You get what you expect at a 5 stars hotel. Staff works hard to keep everybody happy. Location - JW has the best beach in hotel zone. The ocean looks unbelievably blue. There are three restaurants on the premises. They all have quality food and are reasonably priced.

This is easily one of the top 3 hotels in Cancun! From check-in to late check out this hotel nails it on every level. Staff is wonderfully helpful, inviting and nice. The hotel is well maintained clean. The rooms (we had two) were very well organized and accomodating (we needed a crib and the couch also doubled as an extra bed). The food at the restaurants tasted great and was presented well. The pools are fun - especially with kids and the beach is very nice and private. On our second night we even got to watch a wedding reception from our balcony before bed. Overall it was a great experience and we will be booking here on out next trip to Cancun.

I just stayed at the JW Marriott and my experience was great. I took a red eye flight and arrived at 9am and was able to check in my room right away which was awsome so I could sleep. I would highly suggest booking the breakfast package ahead of time if you get a better rate. The hotel charges $26 per person daily on sight. The beach is beautiful and they have umbrellas that are complimentary which is nice. The cabana cost $170 per day which I thought was a little high since it was only 2 of us. Maybe if you are with 4 people it may be worth it. The food on the beach is top quality and cost around $15 per plate. The beach is suitable for older kids and adults because it's does have a higher tide. Kids can go in the beach but will need a adult supervision to be safe.. They have an indoor pool and jacuzzi which I enjoyed because it rained one day. They provide onsight COVID test for $29 per person and I would suggest registering 48hrs in advance for an appointment. The process once at the appointment runs about 45mins. Overall we loved our stay at the hotel. The rooms are beautiful with tubs and ocean views. They have nightly entertainment at the hotel bar which was a good touch. We look forward to staying again!!!

Construction was unexpected. Gustino Italian restaurant did not have any of the items on menu that we wanted for our Thanksgiving dinner. It would be nice to have known when we made the booking earlier in the day. We ended up eating in our room because everywhere else was fully booked

  • 2/5 G H. 4 months ago on Google
We are a group of women in our early 20s-30s currently at the hotel. Please be warned that the hotel is a family hotel with more children than adults and is currently under construction. We have an “ocean view” room that is a view of the construction zone scheduled to be completed spring 2024. The service at the pool is not great and there is no music so just kids screaming all day. I actually just got splashed for the 5th time while writing this. We requested room/door decoration for the birthday girl and they forgot to do it. Just go next door or go an all inclusive. Trust me. We wish we saw this type of review earlier. What a waste of vacation days. We are exhausted.

Make sure to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any place. This web site will compare hundreds of hotel sites and normally will have prices much cheaper than others! You're welcome :)! This resort is one of the highest rated in this area. I've been staying here for years. If you decide to stay here you will love it I'm sure! This place is fabulous. Staff is extremely friendly. The cabana/restaurant ON the beach is great. Great way to have a morning cup of coffee with sand in your toes and waves crashing a few yards away. Hotel bar makes delicious cocktails and the bar food is really good too!

The experience of staying here was very nice. Everyone from the reservations team to the serving staff throughout the grounds (pools & beach) were centered on providing excellent and friendly service. Our room (suite) was very clean, spacious, and provided an unobstructed view of the beautiful ocean. I would definitely stay here again !

This place is the best rated in the area. I have been staying here for years. If you decide to stay here you won't be disappointed. Very comfortable and clean. Close beach access. Just a little far away from downtown but an easy cab or bus ride. The spa was very nice. Received an amazing massage from Juan and Cynthia who worked wonders on my back. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Definitely recommend if you’re going to be in Cancun.

This is our fourth trip to the JW Marriott in Cancun. We couldn't have had a better stay. The whole staff were so friendly and helpful. We loved the food and drinks at all their restaurants and bars. They have made some nice upgrades and improvements since our last stay in 2018. So we will definitely be back.

I am writing this review while I am right here at the hotel till Tuesday. What an amazing property, room and most of all THE STAFF. Each and every person that I came across makes you feel at home and are so friendly and genuine. I can say this as I also have some family staying at another hotel three hotels away and - that one is just horrible. Makes me appreciate the JW even more. So I am really surprised that they have a rating of only 4.6. There is nothing here that I will complain about - Quality and luxury everywhere! Just a class apart place for sure. Only suggestion I will have for travelers who will be in one of the Ocean View (and not Ocean Front) rooms, try to get the north facing balconies. South facing ones have the sun shining all the time and can make it difficult to just sit and relax in the balcony.

How wonderful!!! To start the staff was amazing and truly impressed us. We had a reservation at the Ritz which was closed and sold, as Ritz guest at many of their properties I have a good method of comparison. The team at this JW met and exceed our expectations. The hotel itself was fresh and not tired as they can get over years in these locations, the pools, spa and even turf tennis courts are top notch. We had a great time and would highly recommend foe those that want a lower key place to stay. Thank you to the staff for a wonderful vacation!

I’ve stayed at a few JWs and this one is the nicest of them all. Service was great, it was clean and well maintained. Spa was huge, many pools to choose from, gorgeous views of the ocean, room was spacious and most rooms if not all must come with a view of the ocean or bay. Pool wait staff was attentive, in fact the staff was more friendly than I’ve experienced at any hotel or cruise ship. Ate at both on site restaurants, Italian for dinner which was excellent and then the brunch buffet which always also great (except for one bite of tuna I tried that was fishy). They are generous with perks such as unlimited free bottles of water for pickup at the front desk or delivered to your room. Two free drinks at the bar which were really good and we each received a free exfoliation which was of the hands but you also get a short back rub which was a nice treat.

The room was very comfortable and pretty quiet. The housekeeping staff were amazing. I'd put out the "clean room" sign, go to breakfast, and come back and the room was already cleaned. Everyone I encountered there was kind and hospitable. The rain shower was luxurious, as was the bathtub. This was one of my best hotel experiences ever. My terrible Spanish was not a problem as they all spoke English. That was incredible. Definitely many thanks to the staff for making my stay so comfortable.

My wife and I spent 3 nights here and it was absolutely perfect. The hospitality from the entire staff was incredible but the highlight for us was the service provided by an exceptional host in club 91. Mr. Ludin was so accommodating and went above and beyond to assist us throughout our stay. If you get the chance to experience his service you will understand how amazing this human is. Before we could even ask, he knew exactly what we needed. Best service we have experienced at a Marriott property. If given the option to purchase access to Club 91 it is sooo worth the cost! The food was amazing, drinks were great and lovely employees.

We had an incredible time at JW Marriott Cancun. Service was perfect. Everyone was incredibly nice and willing to help in any capacity. The rooms were clean and neat. The food at Sasi was terrific. Big shout out to Brenda who was our waitress. She was terrific. The staff made us a card for our baby on the way that just put a perfect service touch to our night. The security guard was extremely nice and helpful at the front gate. Pools were perfect and never to busy and service there was fantastic. Sea Turtles come and laid eggs on the beach at night. We HIGHLY recommend staying here. Everything is so close as well. A perfect stay!

I was here for a week with my wife. The place is really beautiful and the service is phenomenal. Beach and pools are really amazing, and the place offers a few good solid restaurants with excellent food. Unfortunately, there was construction during my entire stay, throughout the entire day. You hear drilling all day long, whether by the pools or even in the room. Additionally, I was very disappointed that there was no washing machines available for use. They offer laundry service for a ridiculously overpriced amount, and there’s no other option but to use them. Overall it was great, and we had an amazing vacation.

The hotel is stunning and the service is exceptional but like every hotel there are some pros and cons. Pros- I don't know about all rooms but our room had an amazing view of the pool and the ocean, close location to restaurants, rooms are very clean and spacious, large pool and easy beach access. Cons-Food is ridiculously expensive, we have small kids so room service is super helpful after long days and the room service food was terrible and very expensive, no microwave, the refrigerator was too tiny to put anything in besides a few drinks, the bed felt like I was sleeping on the floor, the pool water was hot, no activities for kids, no shows, the beach was full of seaweed and the sand was nasty. We went to Mexico for the beach and it's beautiful at a distance but nasty up close. This may have been a better experience for adults but not a place for kids. We won't be going back.
