I had a terrible experience that I want to share with everyone. This hotel and the staff are not that friendly and hospitable to their guests. After staying there for 7 days, I was told by my travel agency that my stay at the hotel has been extended for 2 more days (after my flight got cancelled) and they sent me all documents and confirmation about that. But the hotel reception said they do not have that information. A guy named Alessandro (I guess) was the supervisor on site for my stay. He was very rude and not helpful at all. When I tried to explain the situation, he kept interrupting me by saying leave or pay, and he was not listening to me at all. He threatened to call the police if I did not leave the room, while it was 11 PM and I had two kids sleeping in the room and I had already shown him the docs and evidence as proof of extension to my room. When we were talking in the hotel lobby he had 3 security guards around to frighten me. At the end, we agreed that I pay $200 as a security deposit so that they can follow up with the travel agency about the confirmation of my extension the next day. Second night, he kept calling our room and said you have to leave otherwise I will call the police as we do not have any information regarding your extension. When I went to the reception and paid 2 nights in full, he refused to give the security deposit back to us. And when I asked for the reason and asked to talk to the manager or the owner rep, he called the police. Having the police over was not very helpful because the police were speaking Spanish with the guy and the hotel staff and they clearly said we can't help you. My wife and I decided to walk away as we thought we may end up in a worse situation. This was the most terrible experience of my life which totally ruined our vacation. A vacation that was supposed to be fun not a nightmare. Avoid them!!!

Overall, a poorer experience. The food at the restaurants was pretty good, but you have to make reservations for dinner and you can only have one reservation at a time, we were only able to eat dinner 1/4 nights with a reservation because the rest of the time they were booked even though I checked far in advance. Our room ran out of hot water while we were showering and the water stopped completely twice. The “5 star hotel” advertising is not true at all, and if you’re expecting a nice hotel this is not the one. We got it on a discount from a family timeshare so that made it worth it but otherwise I would not pay hundreds of dollars a night to stay here. Also it is a pretty large hotel but I only ever saw 1 person working the front desk, often with a big line. If you have hundreds of rooms in the hotel you need more than one desk worker. Pros: food decent, drinks decent, beach beautiful and quiet, maids did great job cleaning rooms Cons: rooms are old, lacking modern features, elevators always broken, staff tries to take your money for things, one person working desk Take your money elsewhere!

Upon arrival the front desk lady (arlette) was very rude. Not only to me but I heard her be rude to a few people while checking in and I also witnessed her arguing with her coworker while I was still standing there. She told me her checkouts were more important so I needed to move to the side while filling paper work out. Then at 3 pm our two rooms that we booked 5 months in advanced for my family of six were not ready and couldn’t even be on the same floor even though we are two adults and four children. We asked for infant cribs about 6 times before they were delivered every time being told they were on their way. Room service was 1.5 hours or more wait time and they always forgot stuff. Reservations for dinner options have to be booked days in advanced and at the other hotel. They won’t even serve you outdoors without a mask. The gift shop worked told me she didn’t have any change and I couldn’t pay with my card because she was ready to close and go home even though it was TWO hours before their closing time. Over all the service was awful! But wait staff was pretty nice and housekeeping was good.

If I could give more stars I would! Our stay in late September/early October was incredible! The hotel is very clean, safe and beautiful. The entire staff was brilliant from the second we stepped onto the property to the moment we left. We arrived early and the front desk were able to get us into our room and at the end of our trip we had a late flight and were able to check out, leave our bags in a secure area and continue to use the hotel facilities until it was closer to our flight time (this was much appreciated so we did not have to spend an additional 6 hours at the airport). Our party of 5 had such an amazing time and there are so many staff members who made our experience even more grand then we ever thought possible! We kept a list of names of all the staff who really went above and beyond for us and we laugh about our memories with them regularly! The food was incredible at every restaurant and pool side, the service from the pool bar staff was exceptional, and the beach front was the best out of all the neighboring hotels we could walk to. The design of the hotel looks like it belongs on a beach in Mexico, it has character and stands out from all the other hotels which we really enjoyed. We had an amazing time and I can definitely see another trip back! It was a perfect location for my husband and I to travel from England to meet with my sister, brother-in-law and best friend who traveled from the US. We enjoyed the mini golf course and kayaking in the lagoon right across the street from the hotel which is included with your stay. You will not be disappointed staying here! Thank you to everyone who made our holiday one of the bests! Looking forward to our next visit.

The part of the hotel we were put in had a broken elevator (so could only use stairs), no internet and no working electric outlets. Outlets were so old that the electric plugs just fell out. The buffet was not very good. Some staff was nice. Management was horrible. Simply ignored all problems. Do not choose this hotel. We have stayed at much nicer places in Cancun. I spike to front desk and explained all. He just smiled. The hotel wing we were in is old garbage. What are you sorry about?

Positive- We got upgraded to a suite which was nice, with stunning views of the sea. Negatives- We have stayed in plenty of 5* hotels and this is 3* at best. Which is fine if that’s what is advertised, unfair of booking.com and the hotel to say it’s 5*. Food and service is bad. We only stayed for 36 hours but ate out! Should have done more research before booking. Plenty more actual 5* hotels around the area at similar prices.

This was my husband and my first trip to Cancun and this resort made all the difference. Firstly, the food is FANTASTIC. Secondly, the hotel staff was amazing. And thirdly, the ocean views were incredible. Everything was clean, and the staff was absolutely dedicated to creating an amazing experience for everyone. When we come back, this is exactly where we will stay. Thank you GR Caribe for the most amazing time. I just can’t express how wonderful and honored we felt to be here.

The beach was amazing, the staff was friendly and kind, and the hotel was very clean. We enjoyed our stay here, and don't feel like we missed out on anything. Our children enjoyed the kids club and the buffets, and they were THRILLED to be able to order room service! Getting to access the Royal Solaris next door was great, and we walked back and forth regularly, utilizing both locations regularly. The GR Caribe is a quieter location, from what we could tell, and it was nice to have options. The food choices were tasty and it was easy to get food when we were hungry. That being said, I would say it's in need of some updates. I read reviews saying the walls were thin and kind of wrote them off, but in fact, we could hear the conversations of our neighbors word for word. I loved that we could hear the ocean, but soundproofing would be great. The rooms didn't have very many outlets, and offering only double beds was not ideal. It was difficult to figure out dinner reservations, so we just stuck to the buffets, which were tasty and our picky kids enjoyed them. But I wish there was an online way to set things up and see an entertainment schedule, which I've had at other hotels. Overall, a good stay for the price, would stay again.

Stayed here 6 nights. Absolutely had a great time. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because dinner reservations are needed all the time. It is especially hard to make reservations when you have to walk to the next resort to make them. Going up 2 flights of stairs and then returning back. It was a hassle. Other than that, service was phenomenal. Also, please fix the elevators, there are no sensors so they close very fast and you have to push the doors very hard to get them to reset. This was scary because we had a toddler with us.

We were given a room with an ocean view on the first floor and we didn't even ask for it!! The room was spacious and well appointed. All the staff was really nice and catered to all our needs. The 4 or 5 restaurants spread across the Caribe and Solaris properties (you have access to both) were great!!! They had a theater with entertaining dance or musical shows that changed nightly. There's a Disney themed night at the theater and a few play areas for kids so the resort is very family friendly but is also great for couples. The beach front was amazing with warm, clear, turquoise waters... but the most memorable thing was the nightly visits by nesting sea turtles!!! Just remember to give them space and no flash photography or lights if you want to shoot a little video. We will definitely come back and recommend this all inclusive resort to all!!

For such a beautiful resort it's a shame the the elevators are such an on going problem. The fact that you ignore all the reviews about the problem and don't fix it is such a shame. The staff is wonderful the food is great and it is such a relaxing environment. I know you are going to write a detailed report and send it to the right department. I am sure nothing will be done about it. Probably our last trip here just because of the elevators.

We had a fantastic time at the GR Caribe by Solaris. Beautiful beach, very comfortable temperatures with good AC in rooms and common areas, great vibes around the pools, amazing drinks, food was hit or miss but we found some great options (reservation restaurants, Italian buffet night and of course street tacos near by) but what made this stay so great was the staff - they were all absolutely amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Staff always cleaning and keeping the place looking good. Only downside was it was a bit far from hotel zone where most activities, food and shopping are bur bus system made it very easy to get around.

I would not recommend staying here. First our room was very musty/moldy smelling. Second they try to push a sales pitch on you to join and become a VIP. When we turned them down they kept offering us more "complimentary" gifts to attended. Every time they saw us in the lobby they would push this. We were there 5 days. The food at the resort wasn't that great. We ate mostly at the sister resort next door. Our reservation for the Italian restaurant git canceled because they booked a private party last minute. They never rebooked us as promised. The food repeats itself. One night at the buffet there was a cockroach on the wall. When this was pointed out to the employee she just laughed. Drinks are small and watered down. We ate out a couple nights to just get a decent meal. I've stayed in budget friendly Resorts before, but I recommend to avoid this place and pay the extra

Very clean!!! Lots of help around, you can see workers doing extra and beyong wiping behind chairs, scrubbing fountains and walls. Just wow! Our room was cleaned everyday as well. Food is excellent! Lots of restaurants and entertainment! The shore is cleaned everyday from seaweeds. I am impressed and will definitely come back!

The staff is friendly and accommodating. Over all the food is good. The only issue I had was that on the menu when it listed beef tenderloin, it ended being flank steak. Those are 2 totally different meats which everyone knows that. When people order beef tenderloin they expect a tender, and juicy piece of meat. Its kind of being untruthful. On the bright side their cream soups are great and alot of their chicken dishes are delicious.

Will not be back. Stayed for a full week. Hotel is falling apart. Out of 6 elevators in the hotel, only 1 was working. There was a ton of maintenance going on at all hours and there were lots of roped off areas. The hotel is mostly open with no windows, so don’t count on AC anywhere except your room. The open windows also make the hotel very dangerous when it is raining. All floors are a tile that becomes extremely slippery when wet. You can only book one reservation, and when that reservation is over you cannot book another one. The map we found on the website does not tell you floors so it can be hard to find what you are looking for. They only had one, maybe two, staff members serving drinks in the pool/beach area. The drinks are all small sizes. All blended drinks had chunks of ice in them. Arrange your own transportation because they will charge double. Good things were: Staff was always polite and friendly. Food was good, especially the breakfast at the cafe. Room service was quick and arrived on or before the estimated time. Nightly lobby entertainers were talented. Rooms look exactly as pictured and have waterfall shower heads.

This was my first time staying at an all inclusive and sadly it didn’t meet expectations. We chose this hotel for the kids area but the food at the buffet is bland, there’s no soundproofing in the rooms and construction was happening throughout the day, only one receptionist at the desk meaning there are long lines and it’s difficult to get information, bartenders and servers are a mixed bag with some being excellent and others completely ignoring you… I’m writing this halfway through a weeklong stay and wish I would have booked less time. If you decide to stay here… good luck!

I just got back from a 7 day vacation at this resort, and while it was not a bad resort, I would have to say it is comes in towards the bottom of the roughly dozen all inclusives that I have stayed at. The resort in general was a little dated, half of the elevators never worked and the working ones would open randomly on floors without anyone, and the soda machine at the pool side buffet was out of service. By the pools there was little shade coverage to avoid the harsh sunshine, and the staff got annoyed if the umbrellas were moved, and people claimed the best seats with their towels at the beginning of the day and practically never sat in them. On a good note it is incredibly close to the airport, the staff is generally friendly and the beach is fabulous. In general, this was not a bad resort, but for the money I believe that there ate better options if you are willing to go out a little farther.

Hotel premises were dirty, pool had a lot of broken tiles. Room was supposed to be ocean front, checking is at 3:00 PM but room was not ready on time, when we finally got it…it was dark, humid with a little window no balcony and on top of that my wife sat on the bed for 2 minutes and ended up with bites all over her body from a unknown insect. Food was not good at all, we didn’t stay not even one night out of the three we prepaid! It costed us over $2000 to find another hotel for that same day! I will never ever stay there! I want a refund for what I paid since it was not cheap! But They have not done anything about it. My review is minus a thousand starts

Arrived at the hotel with my family of 6. Realized that my booking was the right day but wrong year. Asked for rooms anyway and the guy insisted that they were fully booked and could not help me. We had just came from a water park and were very cold and uncomfortable. He stood by and watched me sit for an hour trying to find another hotel. Went on travel app found 3 rooms available at the same hotel for the same night!! Booked them and when I showed him the reservation he didn't say anything. No apology or reason.... Nothing. He just checked me in and walked away. Rooms were dirty. The food was terrible and service was non existent. $3400 for 2 rooms 2 nights. I will Never return and NEVER recommend this dump. Save your 💰 money there are alot better places than this.

Honestly was expecting so much from this hotel!!!! After staying here for a week I can say I am going to cancel my associates membership because of the horrible decline in the quality of service and food. For everything being all inclusive with nice restaurants as well as buffets. We had our family of 9 stay and eat here and two of us got food poisoning. After complaining they did give us stuff for compensation but after when we checked out they charged us for all these”free things they offered for exchange of the bad services.” All in all will not come here again

GR Caribe is on a downward trend. This was my 4th stay over the last 3 years. Maintenance and food quality are deteriorating. On my last stay, in our elevator bank, one did not work at all and the other needed manual assistance for the doors to close properly. This meant several walks down from the 6th floor if the elevator was stuck on another floor. The pools are still nice and the beaches were clean, although red flagged. This seems a problem in many places, but not nearly enough staff. On Sunday at 11 am checkout, only one person was at the desk to handle both early arrivals and departures. When we arrived, the bell person was not around and we carried our luggage up the front stairs (no ramp or elevator). Inside the room was fine, although the minibar was very sparsely stocked. 3 sodas, 3 beers, some water and no liquor. This will probably be my last stay.

Nice beachfront hotel with large room. The food here is average at best, they do have different menu theme daily though. The lobby, restaurants, enclosed hotel areas were pretty warm, they seem to not like to keep the places cool for the guests. The pool is pretty small so it gets crowded. You'll have to go to the Royal Solaris hotel for the bigger pool and buffet venue. The beach is very nice, sandy and no rocks or trash. The pool is clean and doesn't smell like chlorine.

My husband and I took our first trip to Cancun with some friends Nov4-11 2023. Absolutely the most amazing vacation ever! Very friendly staff, delicious food, Huge comfortable room. The shows were great! Hated to see our week end. Thanks for an awesome time.

Herlinda was an amazing chef that works there. She cooks sushi like an authentic Japanese chef. Another great person there was Antonio. Antonio cleaned with such precision that your rooms would be left spotless. I would most definitely recommend this resort

This resort is not it at all. Sure some staff members are great and nice. But tell me why I made a reservation with a staff member for a massage at 4:15, I get there at 4:08, and the lady says my reservation was at 4? What? But then she continued and said we can’t accept you anymore until a later time because we took other clients. Okay suppose my appointment was at 4 pm, why is it they don’t have a Grace period? Or better yet, maybe they need to send a confirmation of the time they told me I had and not change it when I get there. Absolutely annoyed. Food is not that great. Drinks aren’t that great either. Better off going somewhere more professional and worth your money.

My family and I have been going here for more than 10 years. We've always enjoyed our stay each time we went here. However, this place has its pros and cons. PROS: Beautiful architecture and atmosphere, nice pool and beach area, access to Royal Solaris. Bogavante is a very good restaurant and it is one of my favorites because it's right by the beach and the food is amazing CONS: Service is still decent but not as good as before, some parts of the building need renovations. Certain food and drink quality isn’t as good such as the food served in the buffet and the desserts. My mom ordered a coffee and it took them a whole hour just to make it. On the first few nights I got a room on the first floor. It was something else unlike the other rooms I’ve had in the past. Bathroom door opens and closes weird, bad lighting, unable to open the window and get the ocean breeze, and annoying clicking sound whenever the fan is on. However I moved to a different room on the fourth floor and it was a lot better than the room I had before.

Here is an honest review from a couple who traveled many parts of the world and stayed at the best resorts of the world. If you really want to go have a wonderful vacation on the beach, GR Caribe is the place. I made our reservations a couple of months before the trip date, then I started reading other travelers' reviews, I got so concerned and confused, from 10/10 to 2/10, the reviews were so misleading. I thought about not going, then decided: What the heck, we already paid for the stay and the airlines, so we went from Sept 3-9, 2023, and what a pleasant surprise. We got a beautiful ocean view room which was steps away from the beach, it was quite and very clean. The service from the bellman to the waiters to the cleaning staff were so helpful, friendly and well groomed. We had a lot of choices of food from poolside grills to 5 star restaurants to casual dining, you will always find great food from Sushi and Pizza, to salads, hamburgers, and tacos by the pools, to great dining experiences in the evening. The management did not skimp on anything: There was plenty of delicious foods from 6:30 a.m to 11:00 p.m, and if you were still hungry in the middle of the night, you could order room service from 11:00 a.m until the next morning. Yes, you can act unhappy and miserable and complain about a door not closing nicely or a food item which was not to your taste but when you go on vacation, even at the Rita or other 5 star resorts, you would have to overlook minor things and don't let them bother you. We loved the architecture at GR Caribe, it is unique, and best of all, you can use all the amenities at the sister resort a few steps away. We highly recommend GR Caribe and can't wait to go back. Special thanks to Marisola, Armando, and Estephano (and everyone else, of course).

The place deserves 5 stars even if only for the food and the outstanding Chef Luciano. Thank you so much and we're definitely coming back. There were also a lot of other perks like the each morning shows for kids at the breakfast area, the almost every night very nice shows in the theatre next door, the exquisite restaurants, and the very location. The hotel is not fancy, but it has long standing traditions and we will definitely be back.

Enjoyed our stay at GR Caribe by Solaris. The rooms are fine with comfortable beds and pillows. Towels are good and toiletries are provided in the bathroom. Rooms are cleaned daily. Pool is on the small side compared to Royal Solaris next door but its a more relaxed atmosphere. We used both pools depending on the vibe we wanted. Buffet selection for evening meals is good with freshly made food all evening. Bookable restaurant food is also good at all three restaurants but service could be quicker. We also had wrong meals brought to the table twice one evening. Royal Solaris next door is a much larger hotel you share facilities with, but we liked the size of GR Caribe. The rep will try and upgrade you to VIP membership to give you reduced room rates which could be useful for some guests if they plan on returning to the resort or group hotels but it was not for us.

We were a party of 9 for a total of 3 rooms each, staying this past week (Sept. 4-8) . Check in took longer than I expected but in the end we were checked in and given our rooms, rooms were clean and sanitized. This is not our first stay at this hotel and we enjoyed it before with no issues. Staff is friendly, service by them was great, amenities as expected. Our issue and I believe the most important when traveling anywhere, came when one of our rooms was BROKEN into on our second night. One of our rooms was located on the first floor right off the beach and someone pried open the window (not just to our room but the room next door too) and rummaged through all of the luggage and bags plus the drawers were opened. One of our main concerns were the passports, which luckily, were left on the dresser. That was our error as we should have left them in the safe but we ever imagined something like that occurring, lesson learned. Now we are aware that something like this is not something the hotel can prevent 100 percent however, their response was what ultimately ensured that we don't recommend or return to this hotel again. It was unnerving and worrisome to have something like this happen at what is suppose to be a safe hotel, especially with kids traveling with us. Yes, security came, a manager came and another room on a higher floor was issued but that was really it. We reported the missing item and when the manager received approval to issue reimbursement, she requested another form filled out and signed stating we received reimbursement for the stolen item and made us sign 3 times because the signature did not "match" to the passport in hand, which clearly also had a picture. The whole process was messy and took time out of our vacation, a huge inconvenience. We asked if maybe we could be issued a complementary night to make up for the shock, process, and inconvenience and they said no because they had reimbursed us for the stolen item (value under $150). We are going back to Cancun in December and will NOT be staying here, despite the fact that we loved the staff, especially the dinner staff from their buffet restaurant.

We had an amazing time at the Caribe. The service was excellent and everyone was so nice and generous. You can't leave a buffet or restaurant and not be full. All of the adults get juiced up and have lots of fun. From my experience the workers are awesome. There was one worker who was beyond excellent, his name was Alfredo and he took great care of me and my family. He gave me a hug when I gave him a tip. He was more grateful and took better care of us than anyone. He works at the cafe and he deserves a larger paycheck. I hope everyone can experience people like Alfredo.
