The
entire
hotel
has
been
designed
with
daylight,
making
you
feel
like
you're
in
a
midcentury-designed
library
at
a
college.
In
short,
the
ambiance
is
far
from
cozy.
The
rooms
are
poorly
designed
and
lack
tasteful
decor.
the
lighting
is
monotonous,
and
we
had
to
switch
to
another
room
because
the
air
conditioning
wasn't
working,
leaving
us
roasted
like
a
chicken
with
a
slight
fever
on
the
first
night.
All
the
wet
areas
are
covered
with
"carefully
selected
tiles"
that
increase
the
slipperiness
twofold.
Throughout
the
day,
you
find
yourself
doing
artistic
ice
skating
in
flip
flops.
Some
employees
are
given
mops,
and
they
spend
their
day
trying
to
dry
the
water
left
by
people
coming
from
the
pool
or
the
bathroom.
The
staff
is
extremely
polite,
helpful,
and
friendly,
but
I
believe
this
is
mostly
due
to
the
inherent
nature
of
hardworking
Mexican
people,
rather
than
any
training
or
guidance
provided
by
the
hotel.
The
food
is
designed
in
a
Vegas-style
manner,
and
there
are
also
à
la
carte
restaurants
available.
It
can
be
said
that
the
quality
of
the
food
is
quite
good
for
a
vacation
package
like
this.
However,
some
employees
don't
speak
English
at
all,
and
it
would
be
beneficial
to
either
teach
them
basic-level
English
or
keep
them
in
the
background.
While
enjoying
some
romantic
moments
with
my
spouse
by
the
pool,
abiding
by
general
moral
standards,
we
were
warned
by
one
of
the
employees
through
a
hand
gesture
(a
chopping
motion
across
the
neck).
It
is
quite
humiliating
to
be
reprimanded
in
the
presence
of
your
spouse,
with
whom
you
are
allowed
and
expected
to
be
intimate
while
on
vacation.
Unfortunately,
fueled
by
alcohol,
we
had
a
disagreement.
Later,
it
turned
out
that
the
employee
was
trying
to
convey
that
the
pool
service
had
ended.
This
can
be
seen
as
a
misinterpretation
of
gestures
between
different
cultures.
However,
the
person
assigned
to
this
task
should
have
verbally
communicated
that
the
pool
was
closing.
The
expression
on
the
young
person's
face
was
particularly
misleading.
Ultimately,
with
the
contribution
of
my
spouse
to
the
situation,
the
hotel
staff
realized
the
misunderstandings
in
the
atmosphere,
and
the
situation
was
resolved
amicably.
The
presence
of
bodyguards
around
us,
although
tension
did
not
escalate
to
physicality,
prevented
potentially
more
serious
consequences.
The
fault,
naturally,
lies
partly
with
me
due
to
the
influence
of
alcohol.
However,
it
is
also
a
self-criticism,
that
the
hotel
management
failed
to
handle
the
situation
well
and
did
not
provide
their
employees
with
the
opportunity
to
improve
their
communication
skills.
Throughout
the
first
three
days
of
our
stay,
the
positive
interactions
we
had
with
the
staff,
combined
with
my
respect
for
their
efforts,
led
me
to
leave
generous
tips
that
often
exceeded
my
budget.
This
also
resulted
in
some
of
the
employees
coming
to
support
us
during
the
incident,
which
I
believe
allowed
the
insensitive
manager
to
come
to
his
senses.
I
don't
think
I
will
come
to
this
hotel
again.
If
I
had
the
chance,
I
would
pay
a
little
extra
and
choose
a
more
cozy
place.
All-inclusive
vacations
like
this
one
were
a
wrong
choice
from
the
beginning,
including
my
own
preference.
