I want this review to be as helpful as possible to those who read reviews prior to booking. If you’re looking for a 5-star hotel, this isn’t one. Very outdated aesthetic if you ask me. Beds weren’t great they were small, pillows were not comfortable. There aren’t much activities for kids to do, aside from the two pools. The food is okay but not anything I’d describe as amazing. Hence, my husband got diarrhea and my son got food poisoning. We stayed at this hotel with other family members making us a total of about 20 guests. Unfortunately most of them got robbed from their rooms. Watches, money, clothes, merch, etc. One of our family members is pregnant and their AC was not working. They never fixed it or even bothered moving them to another room! The doors don’t close on their own, so you have to make sure you pull it hard. That’s a safety issue in and of itself. It was the lack of service and what seemed to be discrimination against Mexican Americans that truly pushed me over the edge. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone nor will I ever stay at a Riu branch hotel, thanks to this one. The same feedback goes for the Riu Call Center, worst service and lack of ability to make things right. I’ll close by saying this, they don’t care. They really don’t care what you think or express. So I don’t expect to hear from them regarding this review. This is more of a “be warned” review.

I'll be honest, some of the reviews made me nervous but we had such a great experience here. The staff was INCREDIBLE, they were kind and patient and it truly felt like they wanted to help us have a good time. The bartenders were super friendly and accommodating. Our room was clean and had a great view of the ocean. The food was the only thing that could use improvement but it was still good, the steak house and Mexican restaurant were awesome! We also got massages at the spa there and the whole staff inside the spa were amazing. The beach is also great, it's large and clean and has plenty of space, especially comparing to some of the beaches around us. Overall, we'd definitely stay here again!

Very good resort with a lot of activities to do. The ocean was warm, the pool were moderately warm but could’ve been a bit warmer. Food was honestly a 8/10 but don’t get me wrong it was good. The RIO party was insane!! favorite part of my stay!! honestly a really good hotel and the staff is awesome especially a girl i met “fernanda” she’s responsible for entertainment!

Overall - this is an average place to stay. The staff is excellent, the rooms are nice, the food is okay. It was almost all buffet, I prefer a la carte menus. The buffet food was often looking kind of dry. Location is awesome. Some of my group had a difficult time sleeping, saying the beds were too hard. I didn't have that issue. Location is absolutely spectacular, beach is awesome, there was lots of space and always chairs available.

With its stunning beachfront location, good service, and amenities, this hotel is a true gem. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, offering breathtaking ocean views. The variety of restaurants serve delicious cuisine, catering to all tastes. The pools are nice but slightly. Rowed as they are small for the amount of guests, but the immaculate beachfront makes up for it. The entertainment team does a good job and ensures there’s never a dull moment. It’s an ideal choice for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation, must try the Kulinarium restaurant, ask for Alex, he does an amazing job.

The best thing about this hotel is its beautiful, quiet beach with palm trees and a wonderful customer service all day long. I loved the beach and it's tranquility. We were there at the end of October so no crowds around but also the kids activities were at the swimming pool so we could enjoy the beach for adults only aka quiet time. The water is crystal clear and very warm. It was amazing just laying down there. I loved the food in the buffet but I didn't like the restaurants for dinner. The food there was not the best. Anyways no food poisoning here like with some people who commented below. I think they just went crazy with eating and drinking and any diarrhea is on them! Not really the hotel's fault... The rooms were cozy but not the most modest ones. Room and bed was just okay for me but overall the stay was a great experience. I mean... you gotta go there for the outdoors, not the indoors, right? :)

My wife and I stayed at the Riu Caribe from 1/27 - 2/1. No kids on this trip but it was my birthday during the visit. First I have to talk about the included shuttle. We waited 2 hours for the shuttle to go to the hotel. It was very miserable. For the way home, the hotel did not schedule the shuttle for us and we had to pay for our own cab to the airport. This was after they promised to shuttle us, it was included in the price we paid. The food was slightly below average. We ate at the steakhouse which was good, but the cooks don't know how to cook steak. We asked for medium done and got blue rare. We didn't eat it all. The buffet was borderline gross and understocked. The drinks were good until the end of the trip, we literally watched a bar tender fill up five half full liquor bottles with water. I'll attach a video of her doing one to this review. The beach is beautiful. Lots of trees to escape the sun and plenty of seats. The pools were good too. Tons of stuff to do on the beach. Dancing, yoga, volleyball and we saw a bubble party in one of the smaller pools. On my birthday the housekeeper put balloons all over my room, a happy birthday note and a small bottle of tequila. That was nice. I really liked her, she cleaned our room every day and was very friendly. She didn't speak much English but she did lecture me on drinking water when I asked for extra beer. Not the response I was looking for but I appreciate she cared enough to suggest something more healthy. They only filled the fridge every other day. Speaking of the room, the balcony could barely hold two people. It was a small triangle with a really weird 2 inch step that tripped us every time we walked in. Room 688. Seriously small, we had to shift the chairs around to go out there and then again to come back in. This is the second Riu resort we've been to and we will for sure not be going back. I feel like at least partial refund is in order because I didn't get the alcohol I paid for (it was half water) the food I paid for (cooked and stocked improperly) nor the shuttle I paid for (cab to the airport was $50).

During my stay I encountered a blend of positive aspects and areas needing improvement. The highlight was undoubtedly the impeccable cleanliness of the rooms, deserving a 5 out of 5 rating. The daily meticulous cleaning routines were evident and commendable. However, a significant disappointment was our room assignment. Despite paying extra for a beach view, our initial room had its view obstructed by another building of the hotel. When we requested a room change, the hotel offered a potential switch the next day. However, this would require us to check out at noon and wait until 3 PM to check for availability, which was inconvenient and led us to decline the change. This was a letdown, especially considering the additional payment for a premium view. The hotel's dining options presented a mixed bag. The open buffet, available from Monday to Friday, lacked variety, offering the same dishes daily. The quality was acceptable, but the food generally lacked flavor. Surprisingly, the steaks in the buffet outshone those in the hotel's steakhouse restaurant. Wait times at the restaurants were notably long, with a 20 to 30-minute wait for food service. This was in stark contrast to the buffet, where food was readily available. The beach and pool areas were well-maintained, with a particularly nice pool area, including a section for children. However, the children's pool would benefit from more entertainment features, such as a slide. Staff interactions revealed that tipping influenced the level of service received. Those who tipped were noticeably given better treatment compared to those who didn't. In summary, the hotel excels in maintaining cleanliness and offers appealing beach and pool facilities. However, it falls short in providing a diverse culinary experience, efficient restaurant service, and equitable treatment of guests regardless of tipping. Additionally, the issue with the room view, especially after paying a premium, was a significant disappointment. These areas, if addressed, could greatly enhance the overall guest experience.

we had gotten the party package, well don't waste your money because everything basically shuts down at 6 pm. all the outside bars close, pools are open, but you would have to go inside to get a drink. There were no good activities planned at this resort either. staff was very friendly, but the food was not great, and they skimp on the drinks by watering down shots and buying the cheapest mixers. all in all, I was not real impressed with any of it.

We spent our holiday week with Riu Caribe. We loved our time there and were devastated to leave. The hotel grounds were very nice, the staff was extremely kind and helpful, and there was always something to do. My kids loved the kids club and they always had fun activities including night entertainment. I liked the food a lot. I am not a picky eater and found a great variety of items in the main restaurant and the smaller ones. Obviously not every item is perfect but overall we had no complaints. Loved the Asian and Mexican restaurants in particular. My kids loved the buffets as well! The bartenders were always smiling and eager to please. Had no issue with the pours or anything else. Thanks, we hope to come back soon!!!

Absolutely amazing stay here. The weather was excellent and the location of the hotel is great. It is positioned right on a white sand beach with clear sea and only a 5minute bus journey (50p) into the main town to reach supermarkets and market stalls. The hotel staff work incredibly hard, especially the entertainment team. There is always activities going on in the hotel which suit people of all ages. The staff are extremely attentive and are constantly offering drinks and way to make your staff comfy. The rooms are huge and are fully stocked with all inclusive drinks. There's an amazing selection of food at all meal times. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Don't be fooled by first impressions when you first enter. It may look underwhelming in comparison to some other mega hotels in the area, however, the service, entertainment staff and pool and beach are phenomenal. The main buffet restaurant caters to all tastes and the staff make every effort to keep guests entertained. I had a great time in the pool with all the games and the foam party was amazing. Definitely will be back. The beach itself is clean and there's plenty of chairs to get your tan on or rest after taking a dip in the ocean.

Thought I should post a review to help. Hotel is next to the beach and if you don't want the expense of a taxi you can catch a bus outside either to the strip or the old town. Service is excellent staff are friendly helpful and incredibly hard working can't thank them enough for making our holiday so enjoyable. The only down side would be the behaviour of a few of the other guests but in general a good mix of singles, families and different age groups. Food and drink is really all inclusive and there is a wide choice so you can overindulgence or eat very healthy your choice.

This Hotel was renovated. Everything looked new. The infrastructure is very good and beautiful. First night in our room we found sand inside our bed sheets, perhaps they didn't change the sheets. It was disgusting. Overall food and service are really great. The only thing that messed it up was that in the last days 90% of my 24-person group got sick, we got stomach infections or food poisoning. This was terrible and very frightening. Apart from that as I said, the all-inclusive works really great. I was happy there until the sickness hit us .

For starters Bliss (Front Desk - Attendant) was so amazing, sweet and beautiful! She was extremely helpful. She never hesitated to help. I hate that she was off on my last day. I’d love to have tipped her and thanked her in person. The amenities were great, and the views were OUTSTANDING. The only reason why I didn’t give 5 stars was truly some of the food. Some of it was AMAZING and then there was some I literally had to spit out immediately lol. Beyond that it was beautiful, clean and worthwhile. I’d come again.

This hotel is an awesome hotel for someone on a budget. The room is not all that could use some work. Our room was never cleaned properly. The floor was always dirty, the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The buffet was ok. The steak house and the Mexican restaurant wasn't anything to brag about. The Asian restaurant was pretty good. The pizza was edible. The entertainment was good and pretty fun.

Had an absolutely wonderful time with my girlfriend and family. The hotel was renovated beautifully. Beach is absolutely beautiful and wonderful with smaller waves compared to some other locations. Rooms were fantastic and well done although we ended up having the change rooms after the first day due the AC not working. This was handled well by the staff and the view from both rooms were fantastic. I believe that the larger rooms and the end rooms might struggle with the AC not being powerful enough as my family member had a smaller room and it was a lot colder. Drinks were excellent and food was good for the most part. Some nights were better than others. I did not particularly like the a la carte restaurants. All in all, there is definitely something good to choose from everyday and you will definitely not go hungry. Drinks were good for the most part but could be inconsistent sometimes. Still was fantastic. The pools are very nice and have an infinity edge that looks over to the beach and ocean. Very nice touch and I definitely enjoyed spending time in the afternoon with my girlfriend looking over the beach as the sun sets. Entertainment is pretty good. The Riu party addition right beside the hotel is fantastic and happens 4 times a week (2 at night and 2 during the day). This might be the best party hotel with this addition. I went to Riu party concept back in 2019 at Riu Republica in Dominican Republic and that was great. Well this one is even better and has a better location that overlooks the beach. Really fun. Only thing I noticed is during Riu party days the daily entertainment events didn't occur while the party was going on. This should be addressed and these activities should continue. Overall, service is fantastic and the hotel was beautifully renovated. It is a small but nice and fun hotel and the grounds are kept clean. Would recommend going to this hotel.

The location and beach are nice. Customer service is average. The room is terrible for a 5 stars hotel. Mold on the mirror in the bathroom. Shower floor is old and dirty. 1 bed is slope to 1 side. We told the front desk when we checked in about the bed and no-one came to check on it. I don't think its worth the price for this low standard room. I hope it will be renovated before giving this room to anyone.

Hotel Riu Caribe Google review summary 4.4 7,366 reviews 5 ★ 4 ★ 3 ★ 2 ★ 1 ★ Reviews on other travel sites Reviews Search reviews Eric Jordan 4/5 3 minutes ago on Google I stayed here for 4 days August 27 thru August 31. The resort was completely renovated. First off the good. The whole experience was great, the staff are amazing, the rooms a great (except see the bad part). The food was in the buffet was a 4 out of 10, the food in the restaurants I would say was 7 out of 10. The staff in all the eating area are great. They have many bar areas so it's always easy to get your beverage if choice. If you a smoker you will have a had time finding somewhere to smoke. The entertainment staff do a great job of motivating everyone to get up and have fun. The WiFi works great but you can only have a limited number of devices connected. The Party pool was not open during my stay so I can address it. The 3 other pools are Infinity style and are nice. The pool areas seem to have plenty of chairs and shade. The bad. Really the only issues I had. I upgrade to a room with a small private pool at a significant cost. The pool was basically not usable due to being dirty 100% if the time. The filter system just can't remove the stuff that blows in from the beach. They clean it everyday but doesn't seem to last long. There is always a dirt film on the surface. The pool also acts like a moat preventing you from accessing the beach right outside your door. You have to walk all the way around to get to it. These rooms are also at the end of the property up and down steps along the way. The main hub of the hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the room. The room it's self is great and comfortable. I could not recommend paying extra for the private pool rooms. I felt safe the whole time I was there.

Upon arrival the check in was quick and easy. Very polite staff and was in our room within about 5 minutes of arriving at the hotel. Room was spacious, great view of the sea and pools. Room was cleaned and beds were made whenever we left the green tag on the door. We stayed for 10 nights, the 3 restaurants all served brilliant different themed food and the buffet option was great. Such a big selection and variation right across the 10 nights we stayed. All the staff at the hotel were so polite and couldn't do enough for you, very attentive and professional. The riu parties are a great bonus with this hotel and are hosted 4 times a week. Would highly recommend this hotel to anybody coming to Cancun.

After reading some of the reviews I was a little worried I’m not gonna lie however, after spending a few days enjoying our holiday i was actually frustrated at the people who had wrote bad reviews. This is not the most spectacular hotel I’ve stayed in no. But I didn’t come on holiday to sit In my hotel room. The beach is beautiful and the staff work hard to keep it that way. Entertainment is fun in the day and night, not the best on earth but your in Cancun go out and explore if that’s what your after. There was a huge variety of food and if people have struggled to find anything they like they are probably the type of person to only like chips even at the best of times. The pool and pool area is sparkly clean- the hotel and facilities are spacious. Found staff helpful and friends and found no issues with them. I’m not sure the fan (air con) in our room worked bit I didn’t dwell on it or spend more then 2min trying to work it out so I could also have just been having a blonde moment. Again nothing that would actually ruin your whole holiday. Overall happy with the hotel and everything that comes with 😊

Angel Lopez was the main reason our stay was perfect. He went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. He listened to our needs and made the effort to make them possible. He always greeted us with a smile and treated us with respect and honesty about any questions. The hotel itself was absolutely awesome. The staff is friendly and they work hard to make you feel comfortable and welcome. The entertainment was always upbeat and a pleasure. The food was amazing. Everyone always has there own opinions, but we found selection and quality throughout. The resort is clean and beautifully situated. The bartenders, all of which I cannot remember names, were ways upbeat and happy to serve you. The people visiting this resort were also just the best time. Nothing but good things to say. We will be returning not soon enough.

My review is actually a 4.5 bc I do believe only 5 star hotels should get 5 star ratings. With that said, this hotel is REALLY nice for not being a true 5 star. I booked directly with the hotel so I got the airport transfer for a nominal fee. They were easy to find once I left cancun airport and I was the second stop so that was great. It's very important to book the return transfer super early (like the day you arrive) and make sure to follow the directions the agent gives you so you don't miss the return transfer. I checked in online thinking I would just show my passport as id and get my wristband but there was still a process in signing receipts and the reception person explaining everything to me. This was no issue because there was no line when I walked up. My room was ready within 45 mins of checking in which was great because it was an hour before actual check in time. I was upgraded to an ocean front room which was amazing. It was on the 7th floor and basically right in the middle of the hotel. The room was very clean and modern and the rest of the hotel followed suit. I don't know what the hotel looked like before the renovation, however, they did an amazing job on the after. As for the food, I did not eat at any of the specialty restaurants because I tend to be a picky eater but I was very pleased with the buffet for all of my meals. With the exception of breakfast, each day had different selections so I always found something to eat and many of the dishes were very good. I'm not a big drinker but the drinks I did have were fine. The pools were great and laid out well with plenty of chairs, same with the beach. No one was fighting over chairs at 7 am because there are many. Finally the staff is great and everyone was always willing to assist and with a smile. My only con is the resort (along with many in Mexico) uses scented toilet paper which is crazy lol Overall takeaway is this is a great 4 star hotel with good food, a modern feel and great prices so I will definitely be back.

We had a great time at this hotel! We were very impressed with the remodel as the rooms are very comfortable, clean and stylish, common areas were amazing - loved the pool bar. The food was wonderful and the service was great as well, from the bartenders to the housekeeping staff - we were really impressed and would definitely return!

My boyfriend and I hotel Stay was awesome!! The hotel is nice and clean the staff was amazing . Alex front desk , Israel from the pool bar , Alejandro the waiter were incredible . They were fun and made our stay a very comfortable one. Only complaint I have is the beds could be softer but it wasn't a huge deal. Definitely a trip to remember!

My friend and I had an amazing time at this hotel. 5/5 for: -professional and friendly staff, efficient service. Very clean and well-taken care of facilities. - great entertainment - delicious food, and variety of choices are impressive - cocktails are amazing! Shout out to Vicente at the lobby bar!! He makes the best chocolate 🍸! - entertainment program is another strong point in RIU’s favour. You guys are doing a great job👏 Definitely recommend to everyone, and especially if you travel solo, you will always find to do something fun 🤩. I know I’m coming back and bringing my friends and family 😁

Great hotel. Plenty of options for dining and food 24 hours a day. What makes this hotel so good is the staff and not just the bar staff. They are all so friendly and smiling all the time. I loved the sports bar and the bar staff in there made it feel like it was my local. Vicente, Israel and Regino to name a few were just brilliant. Such hard workers, none stop working whether serving drinks or keep the bar clean and tidy. The lovely cleaning lady who looked after our room (779) always put a smile on my face. Lastly, it was my birthday during my visit and I went back to my room on the day to find my bed covered in balloons, a bottle of tequila and a lovely note wishing me a happy birthday. Thanks for a memorable holiday

If you are European and used to travelling in Europe, then this is by no means a 5 star hotel. Maybe this is considered 5 star in Mexico. The rooms being the most disappointing aspect. I believe it is being refurbished soon though so might improve. The location and the staff are great, but the rooms, food and general facilities would make this a 3 star hotel anywhere in Europe. Don't get me wrong, we have had a great time but if you're expecting a 5 star hotel then this isn't one. The location is great, the hotel is clean and well kept, the staff are all great, the entertainment is good.

Everybody that worked at this resort was amazing. I went with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday, and they surprised me with declaring and putting balloons in my hotel room for me. The food is okay, but I don’t care for the food. The environment is very friendly and entertaining. They always have cool shows going on and activities. You’re also next to a lot of things. The most we would have to drive is 5 minutes. Definitely recommend staying here for your next stay in Cancun.

Things that would help 1) 24/7 access to pools. It shutting down all night was disappointing. 2) would love to see a hot tub 3) if the elevators dinged - missed them a lot because they didn't announce their arrival. Food was average, nothing authentic and nothing exciting. Felt overall most things were bland. Drinks were weak - asking for more alcohol was like pulling teeth. Would much rather have 2-3 strong ones than get filled up one 7 weak, sugary ones. Hotel transfer wasn't great - waited a while to get from airport to hotel. Transfer back was scheduled late and then didn't show in time so we ubered Service was great - very friendly. Highly recommend bug spray, absolutely covered in big bites. Very little information on how to access the extras such as free scuba trial, snorkeling gear, etc Too many kids that were not well controlled, will probably look into adults only next trip Having scuba caribe was a huge advantage. Room was cleaned well each day and the towel animals gave us a smile. But the rooms were definitely not something I would consider 5 star. Also, only a shampoo/shower gel combo was offered, and I wish I knew that before

I LOVED this resort.. Everything was incredible. The location, the service, amenities, etc. Everyone was so welcoming. One of the concierge’s who helped me, Cesar, was so helpful and friendly. I also had a great salmon dinner at the steak house outside by the pool. My waiter, Alex, provided excellent service and we had great conversation. The buffet was also pretty impressive! I’m not the biggest fan of buffets, but I found myself stopping by at least once a day. The tacos and the tostadas they provided at the buffet were excellent. I had the opportunity of having my first solo vacation at the Riu Caribe in Cancun. And even though I was all alone, I had the best time! Met lots of cool people at the hotel, and was always able to find something to get myself into. This place was a 10/10 stay. I will definitely be back!

I got back yesterday from my vacation and I’m still over the moon! I can’t say anything bad about the hotel at all! The food, the staff, the room, the service.. everything was amazing!! Mexico has been on my bucketlist for years and now that I’ve finally been there I already wanna go back and definitely to riu caribe! I went With my boyfriend but it’s also a Great hotel Option for family’s or kids. I’m going again next year!

The hotel is newly remodeled. So everything looks nice and new. Food is so so. Service is good, but they have rules and more rules. Like, you can't take this cup to that restaurant or that area. Also, the hotel advertises that you can go next door to Riu Palace, but they didn't let us in. The plumbing in the hotel has a bit of an odd smell overalll. Location is off the hotel zone but facing Isla. We were about a 10min cab ride to the port where you can catch the ferryoverall. Not sure if I would return.

Staff super nice 👌 Enrique from the lobby bar made sure we felt special from the moment we checked in. He was kind, welcoming and friendly. Beautiful location. Very disappointing that the restaurants weren't all open at this location, or it was hard to get in for meals. The buffet was the only option. Packed/crowded. Service was not the best. English for the workers was not well understood. Food was often over cooked at buffet. Options were always burnt or platters were empty. Ice cream every night was barely frozen so soft, hard to place on a cone. Turned to soup in bowl. Spots bar never replenished their food supply and the staff had no answers. There should be signs in the sports bar indicating how much the pool/air hockey costs. Housekeeping was very nice. Rooms were comfortable, but not updated. Warm and cozy rooms/hallways.

Don't really write reviews- but considering I'd looked at the reviews for this hotel and nearly booked an alternative - so glad I didn't. I read the beds were uncomfortable and hard - ours certainly weren't. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff always helpful. So much to do at this hotel - water polo/volleyball/tennis/beach football/gym were some of the things we tried. The hotel sits right on a beautiful stretch of sand - seaweed smell - no not here - no seaweed to really speak off. Food - plenty of variety. All in all would highly recommend this hotel

Everything about this hotel was great! The place was amazing, the rooms were very cleaned, all the bathrooms through out the hotel were spotless!! Hotel on a beach and bathrooms had no sand, that's how kept up they were. I have yo give a shout out to the entertainment team, they made our stay perfect and so much fun!!! Joel and Ana you guys were the best and deserve super recognition for all that you do. I'm already planning our stay for next year!!! Highly recommend this place in a heart beat!!

Stayed for 7 days with my friends. The hotel was clean and modern. The entertainment was great and you can tell they put a lot of effort into it. I wish they had more parties that went later into the night like the Neon party. The food was good but it’s something they could improve upon (limited selection and some stuff tasted off). We loved the sports bar because of the bartender Frankie who works there. He runs the bar like a spaceship and was so fun to hangout with and talk to. We would come back just for him! We would also like to give a shout out to Daniella at the reception who was really welcoming and helpful. The beach front is very nice and there wasn’t a long line to get drinks anywhere which was great.
