This resort is a timeshare property. I think this something people should know prior to booking here. I read several reviews and didn’t see this mentioned also this property caters to a certain demographic 70 years plus and Caucasians. There was also a lot of kids on this resort. To sum it up a snooze fest. Upon arrival to the resort if you are not a timeshare member you are not allowed to check in through the main lobby as soon as you get there you are introduced to a concierge that immediately starts talking about the timeshare presentation. This was my birthday trip and I was not trying to spend my time being harassed into purchasing a timeshare. The guest were literally looking at us as if we didn’t belong it was a very uncomfortable experience. The next day I tried to checkout due to all of this and was then told I didn’t pay for all my guest they just did us a favor. I’m a very fluent traveler and I normally stay at 5 star resorts. I paid more here than any resort this definitely was not a 5 star resort. If you decide to stay here just be prepared to get harassed and pushed into a timeshare presentation even when asking security a question they asked us about the timeshare. The one thing we did enjoy was the restaurants especially Captain Cove. I’m in my mid forties so I was not expecting much but some entertainment would have been nice.

This is a Magnificent resort you should visit Once in your lifetime. When I saw the view from my Suit balcony, The sea beach view was Amazing 🤩. I was so glad that I booked this hotel resort. Once you come here, you will feel like you are in a paradise. The staff was friendly and helpful. The all inclusive restaurant and bars were amazing as well. We had so much fun in this place. We also loved the infinite pool overlooking the Beach. Specially the Christmas decorations which gave this hotel a wonderful atmosphere. We would definitely comeback to this place. We would recommend anyone to come visit this place at least once. This place has such a beautiful white sands beach with tortoise color ocean water which we have never seen before. We would definitely give this place a 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

I travel to Cancun at least 8 times per year and have stayed at different high end all inclusive resorts and I have to say, The Royal Sands is on my top 2 favorite list. It’s super clean, has excellent service, and food/drinks are incomparable to other all inclusive resorts. The best part is the fast and very friendly food service on the beach! You can relax beachfront with food & drinks without having to lift a finger! Our family of 25 enjoy Thanksgiving week there and it’s always an amazing experience. Truly a vacation gem! 1,000% recommend!

We stayed here for 6 nights and we had a blast. We will definitely be going again. The entire resort is clean and you even see them cleaning periodically throughout the day. The food was delicious, make sure you try the restaurant outside of the resort. Everyone was super friendly and spoke English well. The bartenders were quick to refill your glass. With how busy this place was everyone was very attentive.

Excellent resort. Super clean, spacious and lots of options to keep you entertained. Beach is very zen and relaxing and the pools are plenty big enough with an organized lounger system. Food choices were great, only there a few nights so didn’t get to check it all out. Would like to go back and spend more time here. Definitely better than other resorts that are far more expensive.

The Royal Sands is a fantastic resort for your Cancun getaway. From fantastic and punctual room service as well as spacious and beautiful rooms to the large pools and very close beach access, this hotel exceeded all of my expectations! However, some of the rooms were lacking accessible outlets (outlets that were not behind a heavy piece of furniture) and the front desk would not answer the phone sometimes. Beside this, I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely return! I definitely recommend this place to my family and friends.

AMAZING staff on all ends. The service/waitstaff is phenomenal! The hospitality of the front desk, car services, house cleaning is awesome as well. The food and drinks are on point! I continue to be a huge fan of Royal Sands. They continue to build a better resort and I feel like family every year for go. The resort itself is clean and well maintained and managed.

I do recommend staying here. The staff is great. Helpful courteous bilingual. And the shops restaurants bar and market are reasonably priced. No gouging. Suggestions for improvement.... the concierge personnel were great but we didn't know we were supposed to have one assigned to us until 5 days into our stay. We lost out on some significant discounts figuring things out for ourselves. And, the poolside seating is an issue. Guests will stake out lounges early and claim it all day. There is supposed to be a process by which this shouldn't happen but it's not working. In a 9 day stay we were able to find poolside seating only twice. Still...it was a good stay. And if you can stay up late you have a good chance a turtle will dig a hole and lay eggs right in front of you on the beach.

We travel to Cancun at least 2-3 times per year. We’ve stayed at several different resorts in the hotel zone and this was by far the lowest quality in some ways. The staff does the bare minimum and if you ask them for ANYTHING extra beyond their normal duties they act annoyed. Everywhere else we have stayed you can tell the staff loves their job and just want you to have the best experience possible. Our first night at dinner we waited almost 45 minutes just to have our drink order taken. There are lots of elderly couples who own suites as “time shares” and you could tell the staff prioritized them. Our waiter visited one such couples table 4 times before tending to us even once even though we sat down first. The mixed drinks are also very weak so make sure you order an extra shot on the side if you want to even be able to tell that you’re drinking. Now, there was some good. We liked our suite a lot. We brought our 3 year old daughter with us and it was nice that the suite had pull out Murphy beds in the living room and a door that could be closed to the master bedroom so we could have privacy when we slept. Both the living room and master bed have their own entrance to the large ocean view balcony as well. The food was very good quality for the price point and the pool area had a great section for kids so you could relax and catch some sun and just watch them play.. I could go on and on with more pros and cons but considering other places we have stayed at for the same money I do not think we would stay here again. Definitely over rated online.

Just spent Labor Day weekend there. Rooms were great- we got two of the two bedroom suites. Very clean and nice. All the restaurants were reservation only- upsetting because we asked if we had to make reservations and they said no… so we were only able to eat at the buffet restaurant (all inclusive package). Another down side was there was no music in the main pool. They said it wasn’t working… yet on our last day they were playing music. Overall it was good- have been to better places- it could be worse but it was cool for what we needed.

Great 4-star hotel. Everything was top notch although some precautions: 1) be careful with the food. A dish had such little chopped pieces of bacon that they were unrecognizable. It would be best if they could label everything as meat or meat free 2) the concierge will be there for you only at the beginning and then if you sign up for a timeshare. Otherwise they won't be available or take too long to respond. 3) if you need the floor cleaned, pls do let the cleaners know. We noticed that while everything was done, the floor wasn't cleaned everyday. It was okay with us but probably not with everyone. 4) sometimes the servers at the beach would take very long to either come take your order or come back with your order. Other than that, quiet, family-friendly clean resort with mostly all facilities. Don't expect any wild parties. They had comfortable loungers set up facing the beach with a good shaded umbrella. Not something that was available at all other resorts. Food was good, people were good and friendly, service was sometimes a bit slow but not too bad. Outside areas were clean and well maintained. Good location, close to almost everything. Good sunset and sunrise views. They said they offer shuttles to their other properties but we didn't have a chance to take them. Overall, I liked it.

Loved the resort. The room was nice and clean. We had all inclusive and the guys running drinks were amazing. our only opportunity for improvement was the veranda got crowded and the wait time got high.

pros: AMAZING staff, so attentive & nice. great beach area, kept your room + bathroom super clean, great places to eat. cons: rock hard bed, you have to give them your room key and it takes an extra 20-30 minutes after you’re done eating to get the “check” back with your key. hot tub is the same temp as the pool so not really a hot tub. the rooms are pretty tiny with an even tinier bathroom, but it does have a closet. pool isn’t the cleanest at the bottom but still good!

We visited this hotel on Sunday, because it is one of the three Royal Resorts in the Cancun area. Food: We decided to grab a light lunch after a few hours in the sun. The food came out very fast and hot. Of course I had to add my own salt and pepper, but overall everything we ordered was delicious. Customer Service: Our waiter at the restaurant was very patient, friendly, and helpful. He was very attentive and kept coming back to our table and checking to see see if we needed anything. We really enjoyed everything we ordered, and there was no issues with paying our bill even though we were staying at another Royal Resorts hotel. Staff: Everyone from the shuttle bus driver, front desk, pool towels, and the restaurant was very professional. It's very apparent that their staff really goes above and beyond to ensure that everyone's  experiences are excellent. Beach & pools: This resort is alot more lively and there seemed to be more younger guests than older. So there seemed to be more pool events going on, as well as it was much more crowded than the other two resorts. The beach is an easy and short walk from the pools, if you desire to swim in the ocean or just walk the beach. The sand was soft but we noticed that there was more sharp shells, so I'd recommend wearing flip flops on the beach. TIPS: There is a free resort shuttle that runs between the three hotels, so their guests can ride comfortable in an air conditioned bus.

It was my second year at this resort, they maintain the property very well and we feel very safe. Police patrol beach regularly and just expanded their beach patrol fleet. We were saddened to hear that many of the activities employees were no longer with the hotel from the prior year. Andrea was still there which was great, she has a very positive and fun attitude. However, we felt the energy level has dropped with the other new employees. La Veranda Buffet was excellent. Pool was excellent. Beach was great. Hotel staff is excellent and Thomas Moore employees are top notch! Currency exchange rate isn't great Dishwasher in room was broken. Hot tubs are cold, second year in a row. Sisal restaurant has gone down hill, food portions were lacking and prices went up.

Definitely would recommend this place. I normally don’t leave a review unless I am 🤩 completely wowed. Special attention to cleanliness, friendly staff, organized, fun, safe and excellent food. Once we told them about a special diet they ordered in special ingredients as a part of the all inclusive. Security and life guards on the beach 🏖 kids club was great, many food options. The spa experience was amazing with special promotions. Special Hot tub, steam room and Sauna in Spa.

So far it’s been the worst resort I’ve stayed at. First night I noticed the bartenders putting just little drips into the drinks. Then the next day we called our own taxi then the hotel tried to provide us with one although we already had one, we declined then they said we had to give them $40 for wasting their time when we told them we didn’t want them. So we handed them a $50 and they said they'd give us a ride but when we gave them the $50 they said no ride and pocked the cash. So I went to complain to the manager and they said they will review the cameras the next so we can get our money back but made it seem like we were the problem. This is a review after 2 days, we still got 8 more to go.

Second time here, all around the best resort we’ve been to. We tried another chain and ran right back to the Royals. It’s not the newest but their management is top notch so our experience has always been positive. Food is good and quality, we love that you can visit the other resorts in the hotel brand (they provide a shuttle). Restaurants are great with a huge variety to suit many dietary needs and restrictions, we’re pescatarians on vacation. The beach service is awesome, don’t be frugal with the tips friends. People work very hard and deserve to be recognized. The mock-tails were fresh and very tasty.

We love coming here. This is our second visit and we couldn't be more pleased. The staff is very kind and accommodating and the views are spectacular. Just wish they were able to get rid of the seaweed on the beach and then it would have been a 10 star review.

I took a vacation with some friends and my best friends family and this place really sticks out. The room service, the restaurants, the staff, right by the ocean, the rooms are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I’ve never gone on a big vacation like this and this one Will definitely be in the books and I plan on coming back year after year. It’s close to a bus stop, the malls, flea market, restaurants, it’s amazing and i feel so safe at this hotel. Not to mention they have people watching over us making sure we’re safe. Hearing the ocean as you fall asleep, great place to tan, all the pool bars and service. Absolutely love it here.

Lovely place to stay... The views of the beach from the beachfront condos were amazing. Felt like I was living in a Corona commercial...brilliant! With several massive pools and hot tubs available, there was plenty of aquatic activities for everybody. Can't forget to mention the beach and the Ocean as the backyard. Plenty of The upkeep and cleanliness of the entire venue was impressive. The rooms were nice and clean, with plenty of amenities. Actually our "room" was basically a one bedroom apartment with a kitchen and a bathroom. Just about everything you could think off was available; Refrigerator, Coffee Maker, Stove, Utensils, Dishes, Dishwasher etc. We even had two Murphy beds in the spacious living room! Brilliant! Interaction with the staff was always pleasant and helpful...no complaints.

We just arrived home from a 6 days vacation at Royal Sands. We have been in Mexico many times in different Resorts and comparing this one with the others, w can't give this one 5 starts. The location is beautiful we had a gorgeous view of the ocean. The room was very cleaned. We had an all inclusive but we ended up spending much more money eating out, since the food was terrible. Drinks were good, but breakfast and dinner had no taste, no salt, no pepper, just tasteless. Most of the guests were members owners of a time share. Most of them older folks who are retired and come to the Resort every year.

The Royal Sands in Cancun is absolutely amazing! The beautiful beach, luxurious accommodations, and top-notch service made my stay unforgettable. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the resort had so many amenities to enjoy. I highly recommend the Royal Sands for a truly incredible vacation experience!

We had an absolutely amazing stay and it was very short lived. We only stayed 3 nights but it was well worth it. The people who own timeshare rent out there units here. For the most part, the rooms are well appointed and the property is beautifully maintained. The pools are relaxing with plenty of sun loungers - even beachside.

I've stayed at several All inclusives in the Cancun area and this was the best. The entire staff are very friendly, helpful and efficient. The crowd is a mixed bag with chill, cool people, families couples and some kids. It's a good resort layout with no waterslides or nonsense that makes everything easily walkable with a nice beach area and everything you need. The restaurants were impressive if you make the reservation early, gourmet quality. If not, the breakfast and buffet are just ok, with cruise ship style food that is run of the mill. The bars open at 11a when most resorts open first thing in the morning for mimosas or bloody marry. The only downside was the hassle of writing up a bill for every drink and food order, even tho its all included. There should be a better system with wristband that records your room number auto instead of having to wait for a check to be signed. The downtime could be easily avoided when the buffet is busy and you just want to grab a plate and exit. All in all would recommend. Also to note, they don't play annoying party music constantly and you get a sense of relaxation and a slower pace.More

If you speak Spanish natively, do NOT do it here. They will treat you much differently once you do. I wasn’t sure if we were just thinking too much after a few instances of horrendous service, but we asked around and tried speaking English only at the end of the trip. This resulted in significantly better treatment. We were all inclusive and tipped well in USD at every meal. On one night, the waiter asked if we made a mistake and told us to write USD big at the end of it so they didn’t try to give him it in pesos. On the first night, a guest asked my wife, who was standing behind him at the salad bar if she could refill and fetch him something. We didn’t let it set the mood for the rest of the trip, however, despite our best efforts, the service that followed was the same level of disappointment. The all-inclusive seems to be a good deal, but the service is very slow and it’ll have you seeking food and drinks elsewhere for convenience.

I have stayed here multiple times and the service is amazing. I love the pools the food and customer service. My only negative perspective is the transportation issue. The TAXI or hotel transportation is crazy expensive. If your coming for the first time do your best to have this service already coordinated. From the time you leave the airport you will be bombarded with people trying to get you to buy their services including transportation. Sadly prices are all over the board so buyer beware. Worst case scenario I would open up the Uber app and see what rates are going for from the airport to the hotel. Otherwise ENJOY CANCUN!

Such an amazing place. Staff is beyond friendly, food was amazing, drinks were great too! All around an amazing experience. We got married down here and Fernanda did such an amazing job organizing everything. Looks so pretty for my bride and I. The food we had on the beach was delicious too! Our waiter Diego was right there ready to serve us throughout the entire dinner. All around the best experience we could have ever asked for! Not to mention while we were at our ceremony, they came up and left this amazing heart rose pedal design on our bed. Again, they go over and beyond expectations.

The staff was all so friendly and helpful, offering their services any chance they could! Everything was neat and organized, and the property is absolutely gorgeous and relaxing! I loved the different activities they had available, from beach volleyball to water aerobics, their spa is top of the line, and they have several delicious restaurants on the property! We also had dinner at another resort, which they provided transportation to as well! My family and I were very well taken care of at the Royal Sands Resort & Spa!

The people at the resort were all very nice and kind. The resort it’s self is very nice and well kept. Mario at the La veranda is an excellent server. Luiz and Pedro (who worked at the pool areas) are the best bar tenders you could ask for. Will hopefully make a trip back to this resort again. Only one small complaint…..the beds could be a little softer.

My family and I stayed here for 8 days and we like it. Rooms are good, no shower though, just a bathtub... Beach area is clean and large, compearing to other hotels. Their buffet was open most of the time and the food is good. They moved us to another room on Saturday morning and that was a little distracting. On the first day they called me to remind about $50 credit and told me that I can use it for tips or anything else, so we did use them, but they did not apply the credit when we check out. Good place to go, but next time I would try something else.

  • 4/5 Tam L. 2 years ago on Google
Wish the bars by the beach open longer than 7pm or 8pm. Which forces us out of the resort to enjoy a night of drinking. Also know that this is more of a family oriented resort so probably not a good place to celebrate bachelor party. Overall place is clean and food was good.

  • 5/5 Patricia S. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful place. roomy and peaceful, very clean, service is great! The beach is beautiful, the buffet restaurant, Veranda, has delicious options at all times. If you're staying close to the main lobby give yourself time to get to your room because the elevator is slow/ busy.

Nice place if you like swimming and tanning. Not a lot to do otherwise on the resort. Everything closes early. Buffet food is decent but not a large variety. Buffet themed nights don’t allow for those with other tastes to enjoy the buffet . The buffet isn’t open all day; they close it.

We just got home last night after staying there for 2 weeks. We loved everything about this hotel. Kids enjoyed the kids club. Employees are super nice and friendly. Pool bar is awesome. Beach view is the best. We will be back, royal sands.

The hotel is fairly nice, albeit it’s over 20 years old and can stand to be updated a bit. The staff was excellent and super accommodating. With all that said, there is very little entertainment. They have a bar with karaoke on certain days that closes at 11:00, that’s the extent of the nightly entertainment. They do not have shows or interactive activities like other resorts I’ve been to. If you’ve never stayed at an all inclusive, you’ll be impressed. They also don’t offer a huge variety of food. They have 1 buffet and 2 restaurants on site. They do offer additional restaurants at their sister resort that you have to make reservations for. The buffet is really small and the food is subpar. I did love the kiddie pool. It’s about 2ft and great at keeping younger kids entertained. The resort was relatively small, which I enjoyed. The rooms were clean and comfortable. They all have ocean views which is a plus. The beach was beautiful but full of seaweed (it’s just that time of year). Overall not a bad experience, but a little lackluster.

I was only here for a week but the service was absolutely amazing. The front desk made sure our welcome felt warm and professional. After my mom and I got situated we were helped by what I think wasn’t one of the bosses. He talked to us about the resort in great detail and made sure we knew to ask him about reservations, he would respond within minutes and help us with reserving tables. I wasn’t able to catch one of his seminars but from what other people on the trip told me and my mom, it was done beautifully and professionally. The rooms were always kept clean, sometimes it got cold with the AC so I went to grab an extra blanket which was then folded underneath by the staff which I found very sweet. It was little things like that I noticed that made me not want to leave. The chef’s cooked everything to perfection in every restaurant. I have never eaten more food in my entire life then I did on this trip. The local buffet waiting staff always made sure everything was perfect. Everyone was so welcoming. Felipe was amazing, he always had me and my mom smiling and would engage in small conversations with me. I’m a waitress myself so I know what it’s like to work in busy environments, I was beyond impressed with everything and everyone. The host’s were beautiful, very professional and always on their feet making sure everyone is satisfied and happy. The boss in the buffet was always resolving any issues and I really liked his style. I wish I had gotten more names, but all in all, every morning I was always excited for breakfast because every server was on point and perfect. The crapes were amazing. I recommend Hacienda Sisal for a dinner reservation. The beach was beyond beautiful. Moises if you get him when it comes to running food and drinks he goes above and beyond. My mom and I told him, he’s the reason we will be back to this resort. He always brought us drinks when he noticed them empty, and when we would order food he was always on top of it. Not only does he go above and beyond but I had some amazing conversations with him and if and when we do come back, I’ll be looking forward to a familiar face. Everyone who worked on the beach always made sure to keep everything cleaned all the time. All I kept thinking to myself was “wow they really never stop working.” If you’re looking at resorts to stay during your trip to Cancun, choose this one. I promise you won’t be disappointed. When it came to getting towels for the beach and pool, Manuel was absolutely awesome. He was so nice and helped me learn some Spanish. When my mom would ask for towels for the next day, he would give them so she didn’t have to wake up super early which I thought was very sweet. Everything about this resort is everything you could possibly dream of during a stay. The money you will spend is worth every penny. The resort alone is beautiful and huge, and there are cameras for security outside. If you took the time to read this, then I want to say thank you, and I hope this review helps :)

Our first visit to Cancun was amazing. We stayed at The Royal Sands Resort and Spa. It was spectacular! The staff was very friendly and hard working. The facilities were very clean. I did not see one bug. I can't say enough about the resort. The views were amazing. The food was fabulous. We felt safe and very relaxed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will go back again.

Stayed here in Dec 2022 for 8 days with family, great experience. We had a 2 bedroom suite which was great for us as a large family. The rooms are a bit dated but honestly the resort, staff and location make up for it. All the staff we interacted with were fantastic, Pavel was our concierge and did not push the time-share aspect. Reynalda Cab would service our room and was amazing. There were enough food options on site, having a different theme night for dinner was great. We did not have any issues booking reservations at their restaurants some which are off site, it was nice to get off the resort. We went to Captain's Cove, Trattoria at their sister resort and the food was great. The do have surcharge prices for certain items at their restaurants and that is fair. We enjoyed the choices that were included in our all-inclusive rate. Would definitely recommend staying here as it is family family and not too big that you cannot get around easy with kids.

Where do I even start? Our stay was absolutely wonderful! Everything from the room to the impeccable service to the overall vibe was just perfect! The food was amazing too! Especially loved that we got drink and food service right on the beach. Each and every single person working on this resort had an upbeat attitude and a smile on their face. We will definitely be back! A special shout out to Raul at the gift shop for the great conversations and perfect service as well as a shout out to all of the servers we came into contact with. THANK YOU!!! Much Love xoxo

Where to start. I can’t wait to go back. From the moment you step foot on the resort you are greeted with smiles around every corner, from every employee on site. Never felt more welcome in my life. Every employee speaks English and well enough to where there was little to no confusion on what we needed. We traveled with our 5 and 11 year old boys and the only time the smiles left their faces was when it was time to leave. There are so many excursions and tours you can book right at the resort through Thomas Moore and it only takes minutes to do. We went to chichen itza and what an amazing experience. Every meal was great and you’ll have the best service. Know going in that there are only a few restaurants on site but they have frequent shuttles to several other restaurants at their other resorts in the area. If you’re worried about feeling safe stop. This was our first time taking our kids out of the country and we were slightly nervous at first because of things you might hear. We never for a second felt we were in any danger or at risk. Don’t go looking for trouble and it won’t find you. Make reservations for dinner a few days out as soon as you can. If you’re an early riser claim your spot by the pool or ocean because many others due and the prime spots are gone at 6:30-7. They’ll give you flags to stick in the chairs. But there’s really not a bad spot because you’re in Cancun. They are constantly cleaning but yet never in your way. The only cons were the mattress was too firm for my liking, the hot tub could have been hotter, and time went by too fast. I would give our stay a 98.5/100. Booking our next stay soon.

I enjoyed my stay..I enjoyed the food. Everything was great. Location Location Location..I can't say it enough it is in great spot. Close to restaurants and shopping mall. You can ride the bus for lass than an American dollar to go anywhere you want. Lots of English speaking natives..I love that. Although to me I find Can Cun to be more expensive than any other place I have been.

Spent 5 days with my family. Nice place, but limited night activities to keep guess entertained. Good customer service. Clean and secure environment. Access to public transportation is easy. The food is good. Could be more improvements to serve a variety of continental dishes.

Beach is beautiful, suites are spacious and staff is quite friendly. However, having been to Cancun 10+ times Royal Sands ranks at the bottom. The mix of all-inclusive and pay-as-you-go is a burden for the all-inclusive stayers. They collect room number, take your key (!) and provide a $0 bill after each service. Not only is it annoying and cumbersome, it offers a huge security problem to leave your card and room number (unsecured) at the bar. The rainy days here leave much to be desired. There’s not a covered spot to enjoy drinks outside, unless you’re in the pool. We were given the choice of our room and/or a dark, indoor bar. Speaking of bar… big cups, which is great! But the drinks are laughably weak and the all-inclusive liquor is on par with rubbing alcohol. If you want Don Julio, you have to pay more. We were turned away from the kids club multiple times due to them being at capacity. There were only ten kids in there! Staff is kind and gracious, but not overly accommodating.
