We
were
booked
in
suite
614,
at
the
exorbitant
rate
of
$700/night,
no
food
included.
The
decor
hasn’t
been
updated
since
the
70s,
when
this
place
was
built.
My
kids
found
it
creepy
and
thought
it
was
haunted.
The
musty
downstairs
room
had
a
loud
humidifier
going
all
night,
which
helped
a
bit
to
drown
out
the
discotheque.
This
family
room,
on
the
ground
floor,
shared
a
wall
with
a
hotel
that
had
a
bass
pounding,
screaming
dance
party,
so
loud
it
felt
like
it
was
in
the
room
with
us
until
1am.
Somehow
my
kids
slept
through
it.
Once
that
ended,
the
noisy
AC,
at
the
recommended
level
to
keep
out
the
moisture,
kept
going
on
and
off
all
night,
waking
me
and
my
husband.
We
emerged
from
an
awful
night’s
sleep
feeling
worse
than
we’d
gone
in.
I
then
got
the
run
around
from
the
concierge,
who,
despite
offering
to
move
my
family
at
12:30am,
claimed
they
couldn’t
move
us
in
the
morning
until
the
manager
Rosa
arrived.
Rosa
was
late,
and
didn’t
call
when
she
arrived
as
I
was
promised.
Meanwhile
we
were
in
limbo
-
not
sure
whether
to
pack
and
clean
our
glasses
(see
below)
or
if
we
could
go
out
to
enjoy
what
was
left
of
our
day.
She
refused
to
compensate
us
for
the
poor
night’s
sleep,
claiming
the
hotel
had
no
responsibility
for
putting
us
in
a
loud
room.
If
you’re
concerned
about
valuables
in
your
room,
you
may
not
appreciate
their
meal
system.
You
give
your
waiter
your
room
key
at
the
start
of
the
meal
(as
a
form
of
collateral?),
and
only
get
it
back
at
the
end.
A
disgruntled
employee
could
easily
take
advantage
of
this
system.
The
towels
aren’t
offered
freely,
as
they
are
in
lesser
priced
resorts.
You
have
to
find
a
hidden
room
where
you
present
your
room
key,
and
then
return
them
to
that
hidden
room
when
you’re
done.
The
kitchenette
also
assumes
the
worst
of
guests,
with
a
full
inventory
of
glasses,
cutlery,
etc,
and
instructions
to
count
them
when
you
arrive,
less
you
be
charged
for
someone
else’s
sad
theft.
And
if
you
leave
an
unwashed
dish
in
the
sink
at
checkout,
you’ll
be
charged
a
$75
fee.
This
place
has
luxury
prices,
yet
treats
its
guests
like
potential
criminals.
