Where turquoise water of the Gulf meets the Atlantic ocean. This is an amazing place, the history, the rock formations, the walking trails make it an amazing place to visit. While it may not be one of the 7 wonders of the world, it is definitely on the list. For a few dollars, you can walk next to the roaring ocean, through the tunnels in the rock, or along the edge of the cliff. Take the time and visit this park, you won't be disappointed.

Must see if you are on Isla Mujeres! Go about an hour or so before sunset! You will still have plenty of time to see the site, plus capture the sunset! (Everyone says go at sunrise, which I'm sure is cool also, but no one mentions the sunsets here). Be sure to walk down all the cool paths that line the rocky shore... this is the best part. Walk down to the bottom path on the east side for amazing sunset views and also views of Cancun. (You can see both from top, but sunset is much better from lower path). Waves crashing on the rocky points are gorgeous! Cost about $2/pp...

The southernmost tip of the island and the end of the Quintana Roo peninsula. There is a small ruin in honor of the goddess Ixchel and a walkway that takes you to the waterside where the waves crash. This is not a beach, and you cannot enter the water here, unfortunately, as it is quite dangerous and the waves crash hard. If you're lucky enough to be here early, this is the first part of Cancun that sees the sunrise. There are also spectacular photo ops and the Cancun skyline is visible from here.

If you visit Isla Mujeres, you got to visit this place. I think it’s the most gorgeous coastal of the entire island. Be sure to bring good walking shoes, hat and water.

The only Mayan ruins left on the island. The views are amazing! It's well worth the 60 peso entry fee. Make sure to follow the path down around the ocean to watch the surf break.

A beautiful place to see the sunrise. To go all the way to the end costs $2 American or $40 pesos. Totally worth it. The view is not only spectacular but so is all the rock and reef around it.

Best tourist attraction for the price. The new statues they added are super nice and if you have data service QR codes give descriptions of each one. Best views of the tip and rock formations from here as well.

The views are amazing. It is well worth the 100 pesos to walk along the paths on the side of the cliffs. Also when I visited in the AM I was lucky enough to spot some sea turtles swimming along the coast.

Visited this place during our day trip to Isla Mujeres. It has an entrance fee if you wanna go in and see the sculptures. The sculptures are colorful. Most importantly, this place offers beautiful scenic views all around. We went around 11 AM and it was hot and humid. Best time would be probably earlier in the morning.

Beautiful views - love it! You should probably go a bit before sunset to exprience it better. It's not that big but if you appreciate good view it will take about 30-60 min. To enter the park it will cost you 3$ or 60 pesos, bathrooms are ugly, will cost you 5 pesos. There is a resturant you can go there.

We come here everytime we come to Isla - a must visit along with the whale sharks. Theoretically the eastern most point of Mexico with an invite to watch the sunrise before anyone else. We passed. We did enjoy the Hurricane Earl waves (which wasn't really a hurricane). Walk the paths down to the water for some amazing views.

coastal view of the ocean. pretty but nothing special. lots of tourists here. you have to pay for admission to walk farther out to the edge of the cliffs but we didn’t think it was worth it so we didn’t stay long or went in. small area. but good for a walk. pay to use bathroom but well-kept. it’s near the waterpark with very pretty turquoise waters.

Rent a golf cart for the day and explore Isla Mujeres. This is at the southern end of the island. Great little place for drinks and/or lunch. Then head out to the ruins and down on the rocky beach. Absolutely beautiful!

Early morning before 10am is a really peaceful time to visit. Take your time and enjoy the tranquility of the waves crashing upon the rocks below the ruins. Instagram moments are abundant in a small area. Just breathe taking in all the wonders of this southern point of the island.

Punta Sur is the only place on the island I enjoyed. The North is where everything is but it’s crowded and every 15 minutes a boat full of people show up. The island doesn’t really have a vibe. It’s just people driving around on golf carts looking for something to do. The heavily armed marines add an interesting twist to the ferry ride.

Great fun place to visit while on Isla Mujeres. You'll definitely need to rent one of the carts or take a taxi to get here, because it's easily a ~20min ride one way. You'll probably spend 10-20min+ here, depending on whether you enter the southern point (that is paid by person). However, there's more than enough to see and explore if you omit that paid portion. Washrooms are paid as well.

Great thing to add to the Isla Itinerary. It costs about a few dollar per person but it's a great little hike to get some beautiful views of the ocean and good photo opportunities. We stumbled upon this accidentally and it was a great way to spend about 2 hours. Note that there is a lot of walking/stair climbing (and no shade) so have some hats and water when you visit! Also, there is parking at the entrance for your golf cart. Would definitely recommend.

The drastic difference between South and North Isla is amazing. On the South End of the Island Punta Sur is Beautiful and Rugged. It is the very first place in all of Mexico the Sun Kisses first thing each Morning. The rocky cliffs are a stark contrast to flat beachy North end. You get the best of both worlds so close together. The Stunning views, the sculptures and the walkway down to the water felt Magical.

It charges you $ 3 to enter but zero information, and we saw people who did not know that you can go down the cliff and go a part near where the waves break, and they would return later later. So, this happens because you enter and they don't tell you any information about the place. Luckily we came here early before the heat got us! Loved all the food trucks and plenty of restaurants lined up for food and drinks. It’s much cheaper to pay in pesos than USD here. Think it’s $3 USD per person or you can pay $1.50 in USD if you have it in pesos. We climbed down the cliff and it was a little scary as there wasn’t railing everywhere and some parts were slippery do to the ocean water hitting it. So if you have smalls ones, be careful! The scenery is gorgeous and it’s perfect for picture taking! I wouldn’t say this is multiple hours of fun. I would say 1-2 hours is max here as it wasn’t that big. But a fun low cost thing to do and worth the pesos!

Don't miss this!! Wonderful little hike, right on the water in places!! The ruins are not too impressive but the ocean waves make up for that. We were blessed to be here in 2020 when all the tropical storms and hurricanes where in the area, so the surf was up much more than I had ever seen it before. That was cool to see!!

This place is absolutely beautiful and serene. We arrived on a day we had the whole place to ourselves. The entrance is cheap and you can stay as long as you please. Yummy ice cream and snacks available for purchase before the entrance. Follow the trails for a slow relaxing stroll around the cliff.

Not much left of the ruins, between the wind, rain and time, but a very beautiful spot to visit on the Southern tip of Isla Mujeres. Only 30 pesos to enter.

It was a very awesome experience with a beautiful view! You could hike the whole thing in about 45 minutes with pictures. Price to enter was usd $3 or 300 pesos. Totally worth it. A cab from the ferry round trip will run you $5 usd.

  • 4/5 Corinna H. 3 years ago on Google
There's not much to the ruins but the surrounding landscape and iguanas are well worth it. The cost is 30 pesos each or $3 USD, so pay in pesos because it is half the cost (30 pesos=$1.5 USD approx). There's a walk that goes below the cliffs, the entrance is at the southernmost point of the cliffs. I wish there was a plaque talking about the ruins nearby.

Always worth a visit. It is only a 30 peso entry fee A lot of improvements to the park have been made over the last couple of years. The park was nice on my last visit in 2019, but it is even better now (in 2022), and will be even better once the improvements are complete in 2024. The entrance area is getting a major update and the trails are being paved. New statues are being added. However beware that some of the walkways next to the ocean are washed out and hard to pass. This time we came at sunset and it was a treat!

From there, there is a magnificent view on the punta sur. One can take a walk to it (around 10 minutes). On sunny days the sun particularly heats there because there are no trees. At the “entrance” of this path, there is a restaurant and the possibility to buy some souvenirs

  • 5/5 Tim D. 2 years ago on Google
I loved it here. Not necessarily for the temple ruins – though it's easy to see why the Mayans built a holy place here. The location is a beautiful turbulent meeting of open and rocky coast, with paths that take you right from cliff top almost down to the water.

  • 4/5 Keith W. 2 years ago on Google
An enjoyable walk, almost to the very southern tip of Isla Mujeres, but you have to pay to walk the final 500m to the point - seemed to be indicative of the islanders - fleece tourists and any/every opportunity...

The view was AMAZING! I have a knee injury so I couldn't walk everything. But worth a visit for the view. It's a small location, but they have vendors selling tourist stuff and food. Also, it caught me by surprise, but you will have to pay to use the bathroom. They will give you one large square of toilet paper; and ask you to put the toilet paper in the open trashcan, you cannot flush it. The ladies restroom was fairly clean. I'll attach pictures of the view.

Located at the south end of the Isla Mujeres with many beautiful statues in the park and nice winding trail along the side of the cliff and water front of the ocean with huge seabirds gliding gracefully overhead and foot long Iguanas resting quietly along the trail and the side wall of the cliffs. The water here is so clear with many shades of the beautiful green colors that you won’t find from the coast of the Pacific Ocean in the Southern California area. Well worth the 30 peso entrance fee. You will also enjoy the golf cart driving along the coast back to the north side of the sandy beach.

  • 5/5 Jen B. 1 year ago on Google
A beautiful site to see. We were staying in Cancun, took a ferry & rented a golf cart just for this spot. Think it's $2 to pass the gate which goes for a good cause I'm sure. Can walk up, down & all around. Before paying to get towards the cliff there is a nice restaurant that we enjoyed apps and a beverage. Some had to pay to use the bathroom, but others didn't not sure what that was about. Spent about 2 hours with having an app and walking around. Worth the journey!

Where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Gulf of Mexico's turquoise sea. This location is wonderful; its history, rock formations, and walking paths all add to its appeal as a tourist destination. You can take a stroll next to the raging water, via rock tunnels, or along the cliff's edge. You won't regret taking the time to see this beautiful park. Instagram: food_and_travel0

One of my absolutely most favorite places I've visited in Mexico. It is the most eastern part of all Mexico and the first place that gets touched by sunlight every morning. It was fascinating to be walking along the coast line and looking down from the cliffs. This park is also very popular for the amount of iguanas that live here freely. Some of them are very small and some were much larger than we even expected. You're under direct sunlight the entire time so make sure you're prepared for that. We rented a golf cart in the city to drive here which I think is the most fun way to travel. The entrance fee is only about $2. There are public bathrooms you can use for a little fee as well.

Punta Sur is a natural beauty and historically significant. Being able to look west and see the Caribbean Sea and look west and see Cancun and the calmer Cancun bay gave me a good feeling of the history of the tiny island, Isla Mujeres. The crumbling pyramid solidified the feeling. I've been coming to the island for 20 years and there's been a lot of growth but Punta Sur is still a wide open space. I like the new statues representing Mayan life. I was a little disappointed that the gift shop and ice cream store were closed when I was there last week. And I couldn't tell if the restaurant was still open or if I was just too early. Either way, Punta Sur is worth the visit. If you're planning to walk the trails, wear good shoes. Reminder that you are responsible for your own safety and to follow the rules. Please don't take a " souvenir" rock; the pyramid has been degraded by such action. Look towards Cancun and you can see a bunch of boats clustered over the underwater museum which is also a good excursion.

  • 4/5 Christopher W. 1 year ago on Google
The area itself is nice. Nice blue waters, great views, and a few iguanas about. But didn't bother paying the 100 pesos to enter the very end bit/'sculpture garden'. Didn't look worth it to me for a few statues and not much of a different view. Instead I paid half that for some overpriced water, and just sat in the shade enjoying the breeze and view.

  • 5/5 Carlos Martin F. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea. There is the easternmost point of Mexico! " Cliff of the Dawn". The fence at the bottom of the cliff is missing and the ground is slippery so you can fall onto the reef if you're not extremely careful. I don't recommend going to this part. And it's a shame not to be able to complete the ride.

There's not much to see there. It's nice, amazing views, but not worth doing a chartered trip to there. You have to pay to use the restrooms at that location. Isla Mujeres overall was beautiful, used a chartered boat tour to go to the island, and stayed on the island for a few hours with a guided tour to the location of this review. My personal opinion, pay for the ferry and go at your leisure, the guided tour barely left time to really explore the island, shops, and restaurants, and enjoy what seemed like the perfect beach. Upside to the tour (if you got the full package), food was included at a specific location on the island.

Beautiful place to stop and learn more about the history of Isla Mujeres. There are some shops for purchasing souvenirs, ice cream or fresh coconut water. Most of the point is available to explore with great views of the water. If you want to explore the furthermore tip of Punta Sur, you pay a small fee ($2 or so) to then venture on a paved walkway with access to more architecture.
